This section may contain major spoilers for the new movie Walpurgisnacht: Rising!
Please refrain from reading if you are not yet familiar with all the latest media released.

Not to be confused with regular, non-magical mobile phones used in the series.

Phones are a recurring theme and device used in Walpurgisnacht: Rising, even tying into the sound of ringing bells, related with Marguerite's story, where the Magical Girls in her convent would put their Cores into bells. The overall motif of the ringing sound in the movie seems to be comparable to asking for help in some form.

Cycles' Phone

Cycles' Phone[unofficial tl.] (円環の電話 Enkan no Denwa)[1] is a type of phone in Walpurgisnacht: Rising. The phone is described in the production material as Skadi Phone (スカディ電話) with the description "Someone is seeking help. The ringing insists. There is still someone you haven't saved."[unofficial tl.] (誰かが助けを求めている。ベルは急かす。おまえがまだ救っていない者がいる。).[2] It resembles the one in the Lighthouse from Magia Exedra.[observed]

The phone in the Lighthouse

An unnamed phone in the Lighthouse in Magia Exedra. It is connected to other versions of Name from parallel worlds.[3] As a gameplay mechanic, it allows the players to form Unions with other players, thus enabling a form of co-op play.[4]

Speculation

The theories below have not been proven yet.

Please keep in mind that they are fanmade theories, and not official material.

  • It is possible that "Skadi Phone" refers to the entity that makes up the Law of Cycles with the absence of Madoka herself. In Norse mythology, Skadi is a fierce giantess and goddess who rules over many aspects, including winter and bowhunting. The name (from Old Norse Skaði) means "harm," or "shadow," and it is also considered a potential root for the name of Scandinavia itself. The Norse theming also ties into Kriemhild Gretchen's name.
    • According to her most well-known myth, when the gods killed her father, Skadi marched to Asgard in full armor to demand retribution. To appease her, the gods offered her a husband from among them, and she accidentally picked the sea god Njord instead of the beautiful god Baldr, whom she really wanted. Their marriage ultimately failed and they split up, with Skadi returning to her snowy home of Thrymheim. Later texts state she then married Odin and bore him many children.

Lizard Phone

Lizard Phone (トカゲさん電話 Tokage-san Denwa)[5][6] is a type of phone in Walpurgisnacht: Rising. It is part of Lizard Phone's Rumor, and appears to normal girls in Mitakihara.[observed] According to the rumor, the Lizard will grant any wish in exchange for the girl accepting the karmic destify of destroying curses,[7] although nobody has ever heard of wishes being granted.[8]

Devil's Phone

Devil's Phone[unofficial tl.] (悪魔の電話 Akuma no Denwa)[9] is a type of phone in Walpurgisnacht: Rising. It is a phone in Homura's Hideout where Homura used for her Lizard Phone's Rumor.[observed]

Stagecraft's Phone

Stagecraft's Phone[unofficial tl.] (舞台装置の電話 Butai-sōchi no Denwa)[10] is a type of phone in Walpurgisnacht: Rising. It is a phone that Wasu summoned in Kaname Residence on her encounter with Madoka Kaname.[observed]
