Would fictional works that also exist IRL be fair-game to add to the article? Many characters mentioned reading works by Kenji Miyazawa, for instance, and Mifuyu namedrops “Five Women Who Loved Love” by Ihara Saikaku in her homescreen quotes. EPF (talk) 09:45, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

I think I'd prefer it to focus on the fictional works that are fictional (there are several more that I need to dig up info on at some point), but… maybe we could have a section listing references to real-world works? Decagon Ball

Decagon Ball is a recurring element, so I think it deserves its own section, however, I'm not exactly sure how to format it. I've found quite a bit of info on it, but simply putting it down as a bullet list of near-unrelated elements feels a bit bland, and it's not like a lot of that info feels super important... Here's what I found:

• It's a TV series that runs weekly (IroYachi MSS, ep1)
• Known characters include Apprentice Myoto (弟子のミョウトウ, Deshi no Myoutou) and Master Kushinsai (クウシンサイ先生, Kuushinsai-sensei) (Main Story Arc 1, though it's hard to pinpoint where exactly I got it from; the doc I'm using doesn't really separate the chapters); Master Richie (ハゲ仙人, Hage Sennin (?)) (Mitama's MSS), Lord Choy (クウシンサイ様, Kuushinsai-sama) (Ala Carte Valentine 1st, Iroha's segment. I suspect him and Master Kushinsai might be the same character, they just didn't localize/romanize them consistently in NA)
• The series' merch includes a line of collectible stickers (revealed in the same MS segment as those 2 characters; also reinforced in Mitama's MSS) and keychains (Iroha's MSS, episode 2), and chocolate with a toy inside (Ala Carte Valentine 1st, Iroha's segment); supposedly cards (Felicia's training event)
• The series had a real-life event that Felicia attended (Iroha's MSS, episode 2)
• A ten-pointed crystal of sorts is relevant to the plot somehow (Iroha's MSS, episode 2)
• Quotes from the series include "Ya can't get stronger if ya don't eat meat!" (肉を食べなきゃ、 強くなれねぇ!!) and "The path to victory is found precisely in our deepest despair!" (絶望の中にこそ、 勝機がある!!) (IroYachi MSS, ep1)
• The series had a cinema movie that released somewhere around Christmas time (Mikazuki Christmas event, I think)
• Whatever the hell this exchange from Rumor Tsuruno's training is:

ツルノ: わたしは生まれ変わった！ 無敵のツルノBLUE３だよっ！

Tsuruno: I've been reborn! Now I'm the Invincible Blue Tsuruno Mark III!

フェリシア: おおぉー！ デカゴンボールだったら

Felicia: Whoa! If this were a Decagon Ball episode...

フェリシア: スーパーツルノちゃん２号の ５倍強い拳聖モードだぞ！

Felicia: ...your punches would be 5 times more powerful than your Super Tsuruno Mark II!

• And probably some other things that weren't revealed on NA (I'm only scanning NA stories). I think early arc 2 had some stamp campaign or something...?

Aru-chan's spelling

Are we sure this page's spelling is any more proper than any other? I don't think I've seen any indication of either being more or less correct - I checked her event intros, her character promo videos, anything that could have had a romanized spelling. Nothing. I think it's better if we follow what Magia Union Translations set as their conventions and go with Aru-chan as the name. AL-chan also has the minus of being similar to Ai-chan. Maybe I should expand on that a bit. It's similar to my argument for "Liz" over "Riz", actually, though I believe the details here make a slightly stronger case than they do for "Liz" over "Riz".

• Based on the info mentioned on this page, it is a clipping of "alraune". Neither "aru" nor "ar" could possibly be clippings of "alraune" (similar to how "Riz" cannot be a clipping of "Elizabeth").
  • (There is a small caveat here that makes the Al and Liz cases differ: Liz and her friends are all European, while Kagome and Al are Japanese. If "alraune" is spelled in kana, I think it would probably come out like アルラウネ or アルラウン, and アル is definitely a valid clipping of both those spellings. So, a case for "aru" does exist.)
  • (Note that the "Liz" case is also complicated by the original author writing out "Riz" in Roman characters on one page. From my point of view, I can only see that as an error on the author's part, but it does lend some small weight to the "Riz" school. However, there's no equivalent argument for "aru", as I'm not aware of any original Japanese source that spells it out in Roman characters.)
• You could probably clip "alraune" to "alra", but that doesn't fit the アル kana and also isn't really pronounceable.
• Thus, the only possible clipping of "alraune" that works is "al".

This argument is made possible by the lack of an official Japanese source that spells it out in Roman letters. If such a source surfaces, it probably takes precedence (unless there's some reason to discount it, like an announcement saying it was an error), and in that case I'd be happy to undo these changes and accept "aru" as the primary name.

I don't think the MUT choice is really relevant here – obviously, we need the wiki to recognize the "aru" spelling because of them, but I don't think we need to accept their choice as "canon". Filenames also aren't really canon. I'm pretty sure you can find obvious typos in other filenames as well.
