Edit War Redux: Nagisa
Would User:Skittylover228 and User:Sevv please pause your edit wars for a moment and have a civilized discussion in the talk page first? I think there're sound reasons both for and against including Momoe Nagisa as part of the main cast, but you two are being unproductive by constantly reverting each other. Talk it out. - Prima 22:41, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- I should've thought of this sooner, whoops. Anyways, my reasoning is that Nagisa shouldn't be considered a part of the main cast, as she has too little screen time, development, and is too flat/one-dimensional of a character presently. We know next to nothing about her, and the material on her so far outside of Rebellion comes from secondary sources like the production notes (of which there is very little on Nagisa from what I have seen), I think a couple of spin-offs from Kirara Magica (whose canon statuses are very debatable), reading between the lines (which can vary wildly and would be more appropriately considered speculation), and headcanons (same situation). Hitomi and Kyosuke have more screentime and material than Nagisa does, and they're considered secondary characters and not part of the main cast. The only real difference between them and Nagisa is that Nagisa is a magical girl, which, while it gives her more potential and reason to be up in the same spot as the main cast, does not automatically justify it as there is just too little substance to her thus far. Icons
I think we should avoid using Magia Record or Magia Exedra material for the icons as much as possible. It's fine for edge cases like witches that are only implied to exist (eg Albertine or Suleika), but as much as possible we should use material from the anime itself. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 23:11, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- I'll expand on this a little bit more:
- I think the main characters and supporting characters are all fine, except for Amy. The current icon isn't bad, but I think it'd be better to cut out a shot of Amy from the opening sequence.
- It looks like all the core witches are using Exedra material, so they should all be replaced. The Portable witches are fine (they were never in anything other than Portable anyway), and the Shaft witch is similarly fine.
- I think Asiphae's icon should ideally use her manga version, thought it is unfortunate that there's no colour version of that (as far as I know).
- Paola's icon should probably be based on one of the two Concept Art pieces in her gallery.
- Kriemhild Fausut's icon and the wraith icon should be based on her appearance in the Wraith Arc manga.
- The nightmare icons should probably be cut from the Rebellion anime.
- I think that would be preferred over using exclusively Exedra material for the monsters. Especially if there are some cases where Exedra actually modified the design – those should prioritize using original anime material even more than the others. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 23:19, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Why would we get ourselves stuck to the first appearance of a character? Opening Amy doesn't even have a face visible, and she's lowres as hell compared to the Reco/Exedra sprites. Fausut, Asiphae are greyscale. The concept art design of Paola ended up unused, her design adjusted in Magia Record and Exedra. MagiReco Nightmares are virtually identical to Rebellion ones. The only thing that bothers me is Gisela and Fausut having a round icon when everyone else is having a square one. Each and every one of those is perfectly identifiable to the OG anime versions. - I just want to note that it's not about the "first appearance". Rather, I think that the character page for "work X" should use material from "work X", for any given X. So, using anime material on the Exedra characters page would be just as bad as using Exedra material on this page. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 01:05, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- Im also against using Manga appearanes for Asiphae and Fausut, they just don't represent the character as well as the full color icons do. These are the icons that show up on Characters, so while I agree with using icons specific to the media, I dont think we should choose icons that have less just to stick to this (Also Uhrmann would have to use her manga appearance too by that logic). About the Gisela icon, I just havent changed it yet because of the witch kiss being in the icon when I tried to crop File:Guidebook 0050.jpg. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 15:44, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- I don't mind making a few exceptions. What I listed is what I think would be the ideal situation, but I'm not opposed to choosing non-anime/manga material for a few. I do think the aim should be to mostly use anime material for the icons though. Also, as I mentioned, Exedra actually changed the design for some things, so in those cases we definitely shouldn't use Exedra material for the icon here. (I'm not sure if it applies to any of the original-anime witches though. Certainly it applies to Koito, but that's on a different page.) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 19:22, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Exedra gives Latria a makeover, but I used the Exedra icon for her on Oriko Magica Characters, should I change it to a manga Icon? - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 19:35, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- I'd say it's probably better to use a manga icon, yes. Bonus points if you can find a good colour shot (even for manga character lists, I think it's nice if we can have colour icons when possible). ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 01:05, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
