Naming of individual Nightmares

It seems the wiki has kind of a mess in regards of Yaginokonoyume and Kumanokonoyume's name: we sometimes just transliterate it as "Yagi/Kuma no Kono Yume", sometimes as "Yagi/Kuma no Ko no Yume" (with capitalization varying as well!), sometimes we translate it completely as "Little Goat/Bear's Dream" (Nightmare), or "The dream of a young goat" Runes:Rebellion, or "Dream of the Goat Child" (Devil Homura in Magia Record). I think we should come to a consensus how to spell both the romanization and English name, if we even want to use an English name (unsure if we ever got an official version of it). As for the Japanese spelling, I think it's almost always pure hiragana as やぎのこのゆめ and くまのこのゆめ, but File:Summons_nightmare_art.jpg, admittedly a collab artwork, goes with　ヤギの子の夢. Hmmm... Anyway, as for my take: we should probably romanize those as either Yagi/Kuma no Ko no Yume or Yagi/Kuma No Ko No Yume, with ko separated from no EPF (talk) 10:42, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

Personally I'd prefer to use the translated name, but if not I'd say go with "? no ko no yume". Also, on the topic of the translation, I think "Bear Cub's Dream" and "Goat Kid's Dream" might be the best option. (Since "ko" means "child", if I'm not mistaken, and a "child of a bear" is a bear cub while a "child of a goat" is a goat kid.) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 05:32, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

Archaic vs Latin

So Yaginoko no Yume (official nonrunic spelling used in Exedra's global version)'s name was spelled in Archaic runes in Rebellion (File:Rebellion_Runes_-_002009_-_YAGINOKONOYUME.jpg) but in Latin runes in MagiReco and Exedra. Kumanoko no Yume's name didn't appear in Rebellion. This would make Yaginoko no Yume likely the only creature with "inconsistent" runic spelling. What should we do about that? In my opinion, the Latin Runes did not exist until the Magia Record anime and then the devs used those runes for the Nightmares when they appear in MagiReco and Exedra, basically making Latin Runes a trait for the Nightmares. Therefore I think you can add this "inconsistent" thingy there. RaviaVee (talk) 12:18, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

If the latter media has it, and the earliest form does not, I think we can treat this as a retcon and defer to the latest version shown in this case. It also especially lines up with the Magical Girl's Prayer Event where Homura's name is spelled in Latin runes whereas the other Quintet members are written in classical runes. (The nightmares are her familiars, thus it works.) Worst case, add an annotation/note and stick it in trivia? HomuraDidNothingWrong (talk) 22:34, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
