While most of the true witches are named, their names are unorthodox as they are simple German words. Some of them are not grammatically correct; when this is the case, this is noted.

A witch fought by the Pleiades Saints in | A witch fought by the Pleiades Saints in Chapter 3. It captured Umika and Kaoru. The other five Saints tracked it down after discovering that its barrier moved around on the same schedule as the Asunaro Library's bookmobile. Kazumi killed it with a precision strike from outside the barrier after the other Saints signaled her.

Her familiars are bulbs, from the idea that Airi thought of herself as being planted in the hospital. Her aspect is Self Rejection, and her weak point is toxins in medicine. Yuuri Asuka | 'Arzt Kochen' is the witch form of Yuuri Asuka, and appears in Chapter 5. It resembles a giant hypodermic needle, similar to the weapon used by Yuuri as a magical girl. Giant forks come out of her body, which probably refers to either Yuuri's cooking talents or transforming into a witch during a cooking contest. The forks also contrast with the spoon amulet she carried, acting as a sort of evil counterpart; in fact, when the witch drops Yuuri's amulet, it possesses a dark fork in the handle in the opposite direction of the spoon (which then vanishes as the last part of Yuuri's witch form). It is defeated by the Pleiades Saints.

The witch form of Niko Kanna, it appears in Chapters 8 and 9. Its form is that of a shooting gallery dummy, with target circles spiraling outward from its forehead. The forehead has a large hole that extends to the back of the head, like a bullet hole. Its arms are giant blades that are used like scissors, and it has no lower body or legs. It repeatedly says 'cut'. This section may contain major spoilers for the Kazumi Magica manga!
Please refrain from reading if you haven't read the latest chapter yet.The witches of Kazumi Magica. They come in two varieties: witches that are the same as the ones that appear in the anime, and "pseudo-witches", which are imitation witches, as the name implies.
While most of the true witches are named, their names are unorthodox as they are simple German words. Some of them are not grammatically correct; when this is the case, this is noted.
'Prologue'
|
Minions
The witch's minion. Bookmark humans. |
A witch fought by the Pleiades Saints in Chapter 3. It captured Umika and Kaoru. The other five Saints tracked it down after discovering that its barrier moved around on the same schedule as the Asunaro Library's bookmobile. Kazumi killed it with a precision strike from outside the barrier after the other Saints signaled her.
Trivia and Speculation
- This witch was designed as a drawing found in children's picture books, according to Takashi Tensugi
- 'Prologue' may not be the witch's real name - the translation of the design notes refer to the Chapter 3 witch as "Callsign 'Prologue'", suggesting Prologue may be a design nickname

Prologue's Grief Seed
Nie Blühen Herzen
She has a wounded heart, so she’s in the shape of a heart with wounds. What looks like twin ponytails are actually leads to a defibrillator. This is the image Airi has of herself after she was revived from being weakened by sickness. Her sounds is “puchi puchi”, like the sound veins make when popping out of one’s forehead when angry. |
Minions
Her familiars are bulbs, probably from the thought of herself as sprouting roots and being planted in the hospital. |
The witch form of 'Yuuri' (Airi Anri). It in Chapter 5 and 6. The witch resembles a giant heart, which may have certain implications. The rings on Yuuri's weaponry also appear on the witch.
When Kazumi attempts to turn Yuuri back to a human, it causes Yuuri's body to rise out from the witch, while still being connected to it. She appears to have almost no sense of self left, continuously repeating the last spell she used on Kazumi. Notably, her speech bubbles use the runic language. It is defeated by the Pleiades Saints.
Trivia and Speculation
- Illustrator Takashi Tensugi describes the witch in volume 2's design notes. The witch is in the shape of a heart with wounds because it came from a wounded heart. The twin ponytails are actually parts of a defibrillator, made from the image Airi has of herself after her illness was cured. Her familiars are bulbs, from the idea that Airi thought of herself as being planted in the hospital. Her aspect is Self Rejection, and her weak point is toxins in medicine. The witch makes the sound 'Puchi Puchi', similar to the sound of veins popping out of an angry person's forehead
- Her name was provided by Masaki Hiramatsu, the writer of Kazumi Magica. It means, 'never blooming hearts' in German
- Technically, the correct German name would be 'Nie blühende Herzen'. It may have been intended as grammatically wrong by Masaki Hiramatsu
- The witch's thread-like torture of the trapped Pleiades somewhat resembles a description of the black rope hell of Buddhist Purgatory, a place for people who have killed and have stolen from another multiple times

Arzt Kochen
The witch forces anesthesia into any humans in her barrier. She then cuts our their injured parts and completely cooks them. However, there are no humans who can endure this surgery. There is nothing that she can save. Her weakness are things that have no need for her. The sound the witch makes is "Pusu pusu", which is like a syringe entering the skin or a fork piercing something. |
Minions
Forks are her familiars |
'Arzt Kochen' is the witch form of Yuuri Asuka, and appears in Chapter 5.
Trivia
- Her name was provided by Masaki Hiramatsu, the writer of Kazumi Magica. It means, 'doctor cooking' in German
- She also appeared in the Madoka Magica Online game under the name Dr. Cook, although her runes still display her original name. Curiously, her Online barrier resembles Hungrige Pumpe's barrier more than her own

Weiße Königin
The witch of bullets. Because she feels like she's always being blamed for something, when someone enters her barrier, she eliminates them immediately. Her minions, many small shooting-gallery targets, float around in the witch's barrier. |
Minions
|
The witch form of Niko Kanna, it appears in Chapters 8 and 9. Its form is that of a shooting gallery dummy, with target circles spiraling outward from its forehead. The forehead has a large hole that extends to the back of the head, like a bullet hole. Its arms are giant blades that are used like scissors, and it has no lower body or legs. It repeatedly says 'cut'. It is defeated by Mirai Wakaba. After the Pleides Saints kill the witch, another Niko arrives claiming the version of her that died was a 'spare' given in accordance to her wish
Trivia
- In Chapter 7 Niko is reading an article about a Japanese kid shooting people in California. In Chapter 10, it is revealed that when she was a kid she accidentally killed her friends with a gun and injured herself in the process.
- The Grief Seed for the witch does not have the same emblem as Niko's Soul Gem - Niko's Soul Gem is a hexagon, while the witch's Grief Seed is a diamond
- The witch is named in Volume 3's design notes. Its name means 'White Queen' in German. Oddly enough, colored pages from chapter 9 show that the Witch is actually purple.

Being ripped apart by Mirai Wakaba's La Bestia attack
Hungrige Pumpe
The witch of the ancient sea. |
A witch that attacked the Pleiades Saints before they became magical girls it appears in Chapter 11. Her witch kiss was placed on everyone since they all wanted to take their own lives. Kazumi met them for the first time while rescuing them from it. Kazumi forces them to fight with guns she gives them and tells them if they want to really die then they can by the witch. The girls work together to defeat the witch with Kazumi delivering the finishing blow and saving the girls in the process. It resembles a large eel-like creature with a bonnet-like jellyfish on its head.
Trivia and Speculation
- The witch initially appeared as a swarm of familiar-like creatures, which then fused together into a single being, much like Mirai Wakaba's La Bestia attack
- The eel-like part of the witch deflates and shrivels up when shot by the Pleiades. The jellyfish on top then re-inflates it like a balloon, possibly as part of a symbiotic relationship
- Her barrier resembles a beach, with several toriis standing in the water and coral
- It is vaguely reminiscent of the description of the second witch that appeared in Drama CD 3
- In Volume 3's design notes, the witch is described as reminiscent of colony-type lifeforms such as coral and jellyfish. It's unclear whether a bunch of familiars join together to form the witch, or if the witch breaks apart into familiar-like things. Because her body is a colony, she can be hurt if one part of her is killed, but she cannot be destroyed unless the entire colony is wiped out at once. Despite her appearance, she's pretty dangerous
- The witch is named in Volume 3's design notes. Its name roughly means 'Hungry Pump' in German
- With her cute appearance turning into a monstrous worm-like one, one could say that Hungrige Pumpe is the Kazumi Magica version of Charlotte

Ritterrüstung von Heulsuse
The outer shell is a beastmaster, but the main body is a timid rabbit. |
Minions
|
The witch form of Satomi Usagi appearing in Chapter 15. It is vaguely humanoid, with a whistle for a head and a circular cage for a dress. The witch has a smaller, rabbit-like form that hides inside of the outer shell's dress. Kazumi uses 'La Bestia' to turn the witches familiars against her and destroy the witch's outer shell. Once her true form is shown, Kazumi grabs the rabbit and slams it against the wall, killing it. Though it then transforms back to a dead and bloody Satomi making Kazumi realise she's killed her friend.
Trivia and Speculation
- The witch appears to be an animal tamer. Her barrier is decorated with cages and she uses a whip to attack
- The name means: 'knight equipment of crybaby', with the 'knight equipment' reflecting the outer shell, and the 'crybaby' reflecting the inner body of the witch. The word 'Ritterstüng' is wrongly spelled here; the correct form would be 'Ritter Ausrüstung'
- The rabbit-like form may be the witch's true form
- Her familiars are small cats with mouths on their foreheads. They are somewhat reminiscent of Jubey and Satomi's childhood pet Sare. Kazumi turns them against the witch with Mirai Wakaba's 'La Bestia' and uses them to blow up its outer shell

Plejaden von Asunaro
|
The witch form of Saki Asami appearing in Chapter 18. After hatching, it quickly kills Mirai Wakaba after she confesses her love and lets herself die and is incapacitated by Kanna Hijiri. It is killed by the other witches in the Freezer while trying to protect Kazumi.
Trivia and Speculation
- Her barrier contains several raised platforms. They are reminiscent of those found in The Freezer [link], and may be the same platforms after being drawn into the barrier. The barrier also contains a meadow, filled with butterflies and lily of the valley flowers
- The witch's body has a lily of the valley design winding around it, which is symbolic of Saki and her sister
- The witch's page in volume 4 says this: Witch Saki. The outline was 'she should look like the Nebra Sky Disk'. Her attribute is revealed in the next volume.

Trivia and Speculation
- Its barrier begins to overtake that of another nearby witch (Saki's) once the latter dies.
- The name means 'Two-headed angry wing'.
- Giant Soul Gems float around in its barrier, and several structures resemble buildings from the amusement park where the Soujus were captured by the Pleiades.
