Shinobu Oshino is a character from the Monogatari franchise, originally a light novel series by Nisio Isin. The series received an anime by Studio Shaft that was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, giving it a tangential connection to the Madoka Magica franchise.

The Monogatari series first crossed over with Madoka Magica as part of the "Madogatari" event. The crossover was limited to official merchandise and artwork.

In 2018, Shinobu was made into a playable character in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record, as part of a Madogatari event.

Summary

The Immortal magical girl. One of the 'what if' forms... of the heroines of the Monogatari series if they became magical girls. A legendary vampire, she became a magical girl by wishing "I wish to die", but the prey she hunts become nourishment for her and her life span extends instead. Her favorite food is donuts.

Doppel Description

The Doppel of immortality. Its form is an Oddity-slayer. The master of this emotion loathes her eternal life, and desires nothing but her own death. This Doppel is the direct manifestation of the legends told about its master as the iron-blooded, hot-blooded, cold-blooded vampire, the slayer of Oddities and the master of Oddities, “Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade”. In response to its master’s drive for death, this Doppel uses the demon sword “Kokorowatari” to obliterate any and all Oddities, yet the blade will never be pointed at its own master.

Side Story

Shinobu has no side story. The player is simply presented with battles and no story scenes inbetween.

Trivia

• When Shinobu uses her doppel, it does not show her witch's name in runes. Rather, it displays the white kanji "鬼", which is the kanji for 'demon' or 'ghost'. It may be referencing her being a vampire.
• Her doppel takes the form of her formal self, Kissshot Acerola-Orion Heartunderblade.
  • Interestingly, Her former self's name is also the name of her Magia.
