A-Q is a non-playable character in the 2025 mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra and is an Incubator. Compared to the normal Kyubey, A-Q has green instead of pink highlights and lacks the signature rings.

They are the keeper of the Lighthouse.

  • They share their VA, Ayana Taketatsu, with Alina Gray.

Speculation

The theories below have not been proven yet.
Please keep in mind that they are fanmade theories, and not official material.

• A-Q bears notable similarities to Alina Gray.
  • They share their VA, both are associated with the color green, and the first letter of their names, "A", matches.
  • In Lighthouse Memories - Episode 2, A-Q states that "[Name] finding [her] way [to the Lighthouse] is proof enough that [she's] a Magical Girl". This suggests A-Q might be or previously have been a Magical Girl as well.
  • In Lighthouse Memories - Episode 4, A-Q states the following:

    It was long ago, but there were times when I wasn't alone.
    Once there were three of us around, and another time it was just two of us. And there was the time I was part of a large group, I guess.
    But maybe the most memorable time was when we were a trio.
    When I think about it, I'm pretty different from who I was then.
    And now that there are three of us again, it feels a little nostalgic.
    Ha! It doesn't help that I'm in league with troublemakers now, just like back then.

    If "who I was then" refers to Alina, then the troublemaker trio would likely refer to the Magius, that Alina formed with Touka and Nemu, two would either refer to Alina and Mikoto or Alina and Karin, and the large group could be her vague ties to the Kamihama Magia Union during Alina's Atelier ~Factor of Despair~.
  • A-Q expresses fondness and nostalgia towards strawberry milk, a beverage Alina frequently took from Karin Misono, in Lighthouse Memories - Episode 5.
  • A-Q says they find the Puella Magi Diarium nostalgic in Lighthouse Memories - Episode 6. Alina appears as one of the entries in Puella Magi Diarium during Magia Record Arc 2 Main Story Chapter 12's credits.
    • Although in Magia Record Arc 2-Main Story Chapter 12-Episode 6-Story 2, Kagome states "Always and to the very end, Alina had been fickle and elusive. Though I'd wanted to speak with her the most, I never received that opportunity", Alina's record in the Puella Magi Diarium likely was written significantly later - other characters' entries mention they have entered university, suggesting a much larger passage of time between Kagome starting to sort through her data and the creation of Puella Magi Diarium.
  • A-Q used to have the ability to create Labyrinths, which they mention in Lighthouse Memories - Episode 7. This is also what Magia Archive lists as Alina's personal ability.
  • A-Q, similarly to Alina, has an interest in art. This can be seen in:
    • Post-DL Forced Tutorial 8, in which A-Q states "Few understand the beauty of Kioku... [...] See, it's a core encasing the buried emotions of a Magical Girl. Through it you can learn of the passions and hidden psyche that fueled her wish... They're irreplaceable works of art."
    • Camera Feature Tutorial, in which A-Q passionately proclaims that "Photography is an art that preserves life's moments!". Alina considers "life" to be one of the themes of her art.
    • The Lighthouse, where there are multiple canvases and easels strewn around (see here),
    • Lighthouse Memories - Episode 8, in which A-Q asks Name if the drawing she found was a piece of theirs.
    • Magia Exedra Quest Prologue, where Name admits to accidentally messing up one of A-Q's paintings (as Name calls them) or masterpieces (as A-Q calls them). They also mention that the destroyed painting "used pigments only obtainable from an irregular Witch".
  • A-Q is not the only inhabitant of the Lighthouse that bears similarities to a pre-existing Magia Record character, as Nighthawk appears to be connected to Kuroe and her Witch form, Ichizo.
  • In Magia Exedra Quest Prologue, A-Q says:

    That would be simply magnifico!
    実にマーベラスなことだね

    Notable is the word "magnifico"/"marvelous" (マーベラス, māberasu), as Alina has a unique tendency to use Italian phrases in her speech in the English version on the game, and an unusually large amount English loanwords written in katakana in the Japanese version of the game.
