The Doppel of vengeance.
Its form is a Komusō.
As she gazed at the hands with which she cut down her beloved friend, the master of this emotion closed her eyes, in order to continue viewing the memories that had become impossible to realize forevermore. This Doppel is a round jewel of fantasy that sprang forth from her obscured field of view. It is filled with clouds of memory that spill forth from its skin, and sweet, fragrant flowers of joy. Its core is a fruit that none must ever touch; those who approach it are viewed as mortal enemies by the dragon, which devours them and reduces them to filthy ink. If one were to lock eyes with the being that peers out from within the jewel, the Doppel’s hatred would strike through their brain, leaving them vexed by an unstable mind for some time.

Doppel Description

| **Unique to Chizuru** When I was little, I pulled this little box out from behind the fort. I thought it was dirty paper, so I tried to throw it away, and my dad yelled at me so hard. When my dad tried to throw it away after he found out what it meant, I yelled back at him. But I don't regret it, and I'm glad I did. | 小さい頃、 砦の奥から引っ張り出してきた小さな箱

Side Story

|
Chizuru and Saemon Banshu inspect weapons crafted by Kosho’s artisans, praising their quality. They discuss how the Taito Gang and Kosho craftsmen support each other, but Chizuru worries they aren’t doing enough to help the craftsmen. Suddenly, they receive news that the craftsmen were attacked, and their goods were stolen by the Kumai Clan, allies of Lord Sumiya. The stolen weapons were taken to Mizuna Castle, so Chizuru impulsively decides to investigate Suitoku Temple, where the weapons are rumored to be stored. Saemon agrees to wait near Mizuna Castle while Chizuru checks the temple. Chizuru finds the temple eerily empty, and she's ambushed by monks, poisoned, and captured by Gen’un, a monk who accuses her of theft. Chizuru is offered a contract by Kyubey to become a magical girl in exchange for a wish. She wishes for the strength to defeat Gen’un, and with her power as a Battle Shamaness, overwhelms him and breaking his weapon. She escapes, leaving the stolen weapons behind, and reunites with Saemon. They compensate the craftsmen with gold stolen from the Kumai Clan, ensuring their survival during the impending famine, but Saemon warns them to save the gold for the coming famine. Chizuru and Tsuyu discuss the lively atmosphere of the castle town, contrasting it with the darker days of the famine. They are approached by a woman who urgently asks them to watch her baby while she prepares medicine. While playing with the baby, Chizuru and Tsuyu engage in a friendly competition to make him laugh. However, when they both hide their faces, the baby is suddenly kidnapped. They realize the kidnapper is likely from the Taito Gang, so they track him down. The kidnapper turns out to be a former member of the Taito Gang, and, after a tense chase, Tsuyu uses a mochi skewer to disarm him and rescue the baby. They capture the kidnapper and return the baby to his mother. Tsuyu reveals she has been secretly training to improve her combat skills, inspired by Chizuru’s resourcefulness, as Tsuyu is still the older of the two. Chizuru and Tsuyu discuss how even natural elements like trees can be used as weapons, especially in their combat style. Tsuyu suggests using their Battle Shamaness powers to bend trees and launch allies into enemy territory, but Chizuru dismisses the idea as impractical. Later, Chizuru is warned by her clan to limit Tsuyu’s involvement in Taito Gang affairs to protect their secrets. Chizuru overhears her father, Saemon Banshu, discussing the possibility of arranging her marriage to a member of the Mizuna Clan to strengthen ties between the two groups. The idea shocks her, as she has never considered marriage and feels unprepared for such a responsibility. Tsuyu confides in Chizuru about her own struggles with her father’s expectations for her to prepare for marriage. She expresses frustration with the traditional training she is forced to undergo, such as tea ceremony and flower arrangement, which she finds unnecessary compared to her duties as a Battle Shamaness. Chizuru reveals her fear of being married off to someone she doesn’t know, worrying about the possibility of ending up with a terrible partner. Tsuyu comforts her, suggesting she confront her father about her concerns. Chizuru eventually does so, only to learn that her father was joking about the marriage arrangement, leaving her both relieved and embarrassed. Chizuru and Tsuyu agree to focus on their duties and enjoy their freedom rather than worrying about future obligations. |

- "-party(党, tō)" is a suffix of the Bushidan(武士団, Band of Warriors)'s name in Medival Japan(from the latter part of the Heian period to Muromachi period). The reason why is explained in Arc 2; Chizuru renounced all ties to her father after he betrayed and ambushed the West during a peace talk, resulting in the deaths of many people including Tsuyu’s father.
- Both her and Tsuyu Mizuna's doppel name starts with Ko- and ends with -tsu.
