Licensing in Germany

This article outlines the official licensing of Puella Magi Madoka Magica in Germany (including the German-speaking regions of Austria and Switzerland), covering anime distribution by Universum Anime and the German-language manga releases published by Carlsen Verlag.

DVD Release

On September 30, 2011, Universum Anime announced on its official Facebook page that it had licensed Puella Magi Madoka Magica for release in Germany. The series was released with a German dub and Japanese audio with subtitles across three DVD volumes with four episodes per disc. Volume 1 was released on March 30, 2012 with Volumes 2 & 3 following in April and May. A Blu-ray release is currently not planned.

Manga

The Puella Magi Madoka Magica manga series was released in Germany by Carlsen Verlag, which licensed and published the German-language editions of the franchise. Carlsen released the main three-volume manga adaptation of the anime, along with several spin-off titles in the Madoka Magica universe. The Carlsen editions were also distributed in other German-speaking regions, including Austria and Switzerland.
