Doppel Description
Oxford, Miyuri's doppel
The Doppel of stark candor. Its form is a shoe. The master of this emotion is dumbfounded by the countless legs sprouting out from her vicinity and pressing in on her. However, she doesn’t actually seem bothered by them, and is in fact staring blankly into space from a sheer overload of joy. Meanwhile, her Doppel has had no luck whatsoever in its search for a foot that will fit it, and has filled itself to the brim with nothing but dud legs to dispose of. But it still hasn’t given up on meeting its soulmate (sole-mate) one day, and thus tends to throw tantrums out of frustration. It vents its stress by leaping high into the heavens, then falling back to earth in a plummeting stomp. Apparently, it can relieve more stress the higher it flies.
Costume Stories
At the beach, all the Neo Magius girls are in their swimsuits, ready to have some fun, except for Mitsune, who would rather keep her hoodie on and hide in the shade. However, they all quickly notice that they’re missing someone. Hagumu suspects that Miyuri fainted somewhere from seeing all their bare legs. Himena suddenly gets a text from her, telling them to have fun without her, so they split up and search for her. Hidden in some trees, Miyuri keeps her eyes tightly shut, already pretty flustered. After San scolds her for running off, Miyuri proves Hagumu’s theory mostly correct. Since she found that she doesn’t get nervous while doing photography, she had silently kicked herself out of the group.
Despite her unusual condition, her friends prove to be respectful and supportive of her, as they have brought skirts and pants to cover up their legs. Still with her eyes closed, Miyuri cries happily, before returning to the beach with them.
A few days later, Miyuri surprises the group with a few albums that she made as a way of thanks. She gets excited when the girls compliment her, but the moment is short lived. On the last page of the album, Miyuri’s… thoughts, got the better of her, as all the images were different shots of legs, naturally making everyone uncomfortable…
Miyuri's innate magic is described as "Shortening of time experience", which makes her fall asleep and sleepwalk whenever she has a panic attack. While in this state Miyuri can do anything, even fight in "berserk mode" as she can easily defeat witches in this state, but this makes her a threat to anyone around her, as she is likely to attack her allies. Miyuri can only be controlled in this state by hearing San Kagura's voice, who guides her as a marionette.
Etymology
The characters of her last name mean "playing" (遊) and "hunt" (狩) respectively.
Trivia
Her nickname while in the Wings of Magius was "Secret Weapon".
Her Doppel is likely named after Oxfords, a type of shoe known for its low cut and popularity in outdoor activities.
Her Doppel could also be a reference to Monty Python's Flying Circus. Terry Jones and Michael Palin first met at Oxford University and were later joined by Graham Chapman, John Cleese and Eric Idle who formed a group called the Footlights. Also, a popular running gag in Flying Circus was the image of a giant foot that would crush the title logo at the end of the intro.
As seen in her chapter art, Miyuri has a phone case with an image of her Doppel on it.
