The following is a summary posted on 4chan's /pmmm/ general.
Chapter 1
- Himena Aika, Alexandra Kurusu, Shigure Miyabi, and Hagumu Azumi go to Takarazaki to recruit 'professor' San Kagura and Miyuri Yukari
- Sasha has her own errand in Takarazaki and leaves the three
- While waiting for San and Miyuri, Hagumu has her bag snatched
- As they corner the snatcher, Jun and Mitsune appear to help them
- After Mitsune takes a picture with Hagumu ('no face, please') to post online, the two peace out
- The three finally meet San and Miyuri
- There's a festival about to happen in Takarazaki, but there's also strange things afoot
- San tells the three that if they want her and Miyuri to join, they have to solve this mystery (and defeat the witch behind it) in 10 days
- OMAKE: There's a very short recollection scene of Girls n da Hood (Jun and Mitsune's first meeting) before you can fight the boss.
Chapter 2
- After a bit of internet sleuthing and brainstorming, Himenana asks Shigure and Hagumu to look for witches while Himenana consults her 'boyfriend'
- Shigure and Hagumu split up. While out on the hunt, Shigure fumes about Himenana's leadership
- She detects what she thought was a witch, and she call Hagumu
- It turns out to be nothing more than a familiar
- Shigure laments that she's a useless Magical Girl who can't even distinguish between witches and familiars
- It's because she's so useless that they keep getting pushed around, first by Juri-sama, now by Himenana
- She's convinced that as soon as Himenana achieves her goal, she'll discard them
- She asks Hagumu if she feels the same way
- Hagumu feels that they're being swept away by events, but since they need to muster determination to achieve their goals, they should just keep moving rather than stop
- They receive a call from Himenana calling them back
- Himenana shows them a map of where and when the incidents have happened
- Certain incidents occur most frequently from around sunset to nighttime
- And the place where they waited for San was a focal point of incidents
- Therefore, it's most likely that a witch is there
- Once at the place, they investigate the back alley
- A voice warns them that a scary witch lives there and they should turn back
- 'なーんてねw'
- As you may have guessed, it's Mitsune with Jun
- The Neo Magius trio announce that they intend to fight, and it would be faster if there's five of them
- SIDENOTE: Mitsune's dialogue in area 3 goes: 'It's the first time I'm fighting as part of a group of five!'
- In the barrier, Mitsune uses something that makes the witch behave abnormally
- She's using some form of sensory alteration
- After the fight, Jun comments that the Neo Magius trio look stronger than the two of them
- Conversing by telepathy, Hagumu and Shigure decide to ask them about the state of the city
- Before they could say so out loud, and without consulting them, Himena asks them first
- They realize that they were working towards the same goal
- Hagumu and Shigure decide telepathically to offer cooperation with them
- Before they could say so out loud, and without consulting them (again), Himenana asks for exactly the same thing
- Jun and Mitsune say okay. Himenana asks Mitsune for the pictures of all the troublemakers she's caught so far
- After looking at all the picture, Himenana decides to nix the cooperation
- Jun and Mitsune seems to take this in stride. Mitsune tells them they can contact her through her account
- The three leave. Shigure asks Himenana why she didn't cooperate with them
- Their team doesn't need them, and there's something about them that doesn't sit right with her
- After a moment of silence, Shigure mutters to Hagumu that she hates Himena
- OMAKE: Jun and Mitsune parting ways
Chapter 3
- Morning the next day, the background is the dagashi shop from Girlz n the Hood
- Shigure receives a call from San, asking her for updates
- Basically, they're progressing slowly but surely
- San apologizes for using them to solve what should be their city's problem (she seems to be part of the festival committee)
- The two don't mind, because San wouldn't have contacted them otherwise in the first place
- San asks the two about Himena
- Shigure immediately blurts out that she hates her
- She's using her brain to help, sure, but she's using the two as her lackeys without doing any heavy lifting herself
- San wonders if she should join an organization whose leader the two of them don't trust
- Anyway, San advises them to get to know more about that leader
- In case things don't go well between them and Himena, she'll cancel the test
- The call ends. They talk a bit, but then the owner of the shop tells them to stop loitering and buy something or get off her lawn
- Hagumu tells her that they stopped only because they had to answer a phone call
- The shop owner notices that Hagumu's wearing the same uniform as Jun, and asks if they know each other
- Hagumu remembers the name of one of the Magical Girle they met last night, but since she's from Takarazaki, she doesn't think it's the same Jun
- Shigure asks her about this Jun. The shop owner replies that she's a regular customer who's recently been spending less time at the shop
- As the shop owner leaves, they receive a message from (to quote Shigure) that person (Himena)
- In Himena's message, she asks them to look something up
- After poring through some information and conferring again with her 'boyfriend', they realise that the sewers and tall buildings of Takarazaki need to be investigated. She asks them to check the library and the internet for maps of those places
- Later, the three meet at the same place they met San. Himena thanks the two for their investigation
- Himena tells them those are possible spots for witches
- Shigure tells them that the two of them already went around the city looking for witches yesterday, but they couldn't find strong ones
- Himena tells them that's two-dimensional thinking (literally 平面的 'planar')
- This time, they should look at high and low places
- Hagumu hadn't thought of magical energy being blocked by physical obstructions
- Then she wonders if they have to go down into the sewers
- That's exactly what Himena wants them to do
- While they're doing that, she'll continue brainstorming with her 'boyfriend'
- Shigure confronts her about not wanting to do the dirty work, and that's why she sending the two of them instead
- Himena is taken aback by this display of anger, but she tells her that it's for the sake of San's test
- It doesn't matter to Shigure, she really hates Himena's guts
- Shigure turns around and leave. A flustered Hagumu apologises to Himena, and then chases after her
- Himena sighs, realising that it's the first time she's been told 'I hate you' to her face (from this point on, she seems to be talking to someone)
- Even though she considers them the same as her (or partners, 同類) and that she doesn't hate them
- At worst, she expected them to tell her to go to the sewers herself. Even she's shocked by Shigure's outburst
- The boyfriend is finally given a name: Hiko-kun. She feels the same thing that happened between them is happening again.
- A breathless Hagumu finally catches up to Shigure
- Shigure apologises to Hagumu for her actions, even though she told her yesterday that they can't afford to stop
- But Hagumu replies that she understand how Shigure feels
- What do they do now? Shigure asks. This was their chance to expand their group
- Hagumu asks Shigure if she remembers the first time they met in Fendthope (scenes here were taken from Shigure's MSS)
- Shigure was hyper autistic even by the standards of the series and almost never talked to anyone, but Hagumu persevered until finally, Shigure opened up to Hagumu
- Hagumu realises that they should expend the same effort she took to befriend Shigure to get closer to Himena
- Shigure feels that Hagumu is the one who understands her best, and is even like an older sister to her
- Even though at first Shigure was annoyed by Hagumu's small talk, she never gave up and tried to close the gap between them
- '大好き' As HaguMaria's number 1 fan, I raise the white flag. This whole scene sank my ship.
- Shigure resolves not to run away from Himena anymore
- At that time, a message from Himena appears
- They meet at some playground. Himena is visibly tired--and stinky
- As they guessed, she went to investigate the sewers
- She didn't find the witch they were looking for, though
- Himena tells Shigure to let it all out on her
- Shigure tells her that she hasn't accepted her as their leader. She refuses to be her chess piece
- Then she tells Himena her fear that they'll be discarded once she achieves her goal
- It doesn't seem like Magical Girl supremacy is part of Himena's main agenda anyway
- She also confronts her about not allying with Jun and Mitsune
- Himena replies that she was just using the right person at the right place, and that if it needs be, even she would get her hands dirty
- Besides, Himena was doing all the thinking. She had never heard of any suggestion of a plan from Shigure
- Also, she didn't want to team up with the two because it's supposed to be San's test for the three of them
- Finally, isn't Shigure just being too paranoid?
- Himena is really letting her have it. Shigure could do nothing but hang her head and tear up
- Hagumu throws in the towel to stop the one-sided boxing match. Himena realises she's said too much
- Hagumu says no, it's good that's she's finally explaining the reasons behind her actions
- Himena apologises for not taking ShiguHagu's feelings into consideration
- Himena asks them to believe in this: 'I won't say a bad thing about your personality
- 'Because if I did, I'd be betraying him.'
- Anyway, Himena hates being stinky, so why don't they go to a nearby bathhouse? They can discuss things there
- In the bathhouse, Himena listens to Shigure and Hagumu's reason for wanting to establish Magical Girl supremacy
- Basically, they're still a bunch of losers even after becoming Magical Girls, and their classmates won't praise them even when they save them from witches
- They want to establish Magical Girl supremacy to prove their worth
- Himena feels a tinge of sympathy for the two. Hagumu tells her that it's her turn
- According to Himena, She and her boyfriend were childhood friends
- Himena was popular but dumb; boyfriend was lonely but smart, which she loved
- Himena confesses and they start dating in secret
- The school finds out and they start pushing the boyfriend away. Like, genuinely scared about Himena hanging out with him
- Himena doesn't notice the boyfriend's deteriorating mental state and keeps dating as if nothing happened until he commits suicide
- Cries about this to the point even Hagumu and Shigure take pity on her despite their dislike of her in the event until this point (for example, she wanted them to go swim in the sewers for info about a Witch while she kept arguing with her schizo self above about what to do) have her rest on San's place
- Himena wants to reach the summit (whatever 天辺 means) so that she could talk to Hiko-kun without being made fun of
- For the sake of that goal, she would do anything
- Later, at San's place (a Takarazaki community centre), they deal with Himena's stinky clothes
- Shigure asks San to let her rest here (from this point on, Shigure calls Himena 姫, princess)
- Meanwhile, the two of them will investigate the tall places
- San comments on Shigure's name for her
- Himena says its because of their heart-to-heart talk
- She asks if she can go to sleep, because her heart is tired
Chapter 4
- Shigure and Hagumu have toured all but one of the tall buildings in Takarazaki
- As they head for the last one, they talk about what they've learned about Himena
- Suddenly, they detect the presence of a witch in the last building, though it's not particularly strong
- Meanwhile, Himena has a nightmare about Hiko-kun
- She wakes up to some guy offering her tea
- She screams. San and Miyuri bust in and kick the poor guy out
- Aika asks San for updates on Shigure and Hagumu. San tells them that they're on the trail of a witch
- She then asks about Himena's commitment to Magical Girl supremacy. Himena throws the question back at her
- San admits that she might be less concerned with it than Miyuri
- Miyuri says she loses consciousness when things get serious, which is why she doesn't act independently of San
- Otherwise she could become uncontrollable and attack both friend and foe
- Himena presses San for her reason for believing in Magical Girl supremacy
- She says the festival they're preparing for is her reason
- It taught her how to dance and play the taiko, and to make friends
- Which is why she's willing to lay her life down to protect it
- Himena confesses that she doesn't understand how that's connected to Magical Girl supremacy
- 'If I'm superior to humans, the festival I participate in will also be superior.'
- Himena asks if San wants to be deified. San says, 'I will become god' with a straight face
- Otherwise, she couldn't protect this festival
- Miyuri's dad's company is the festival's sponsor, but Miyuri heard rumors that this year might be the last time they'd do so
- San admits that the festival's been held over the opposition of others
- It's just survived because of the sponsorship of Miyuri's dad's company
- Miyuri and San are working so hard on this year's festival, and they don't want it to be the last
- Miyuri then says that it's Himena's turn to explain her reason for wanting Magical Girl supremacy
- Himena complains that she just told her story recently, but Miyuri insists
- After Himena tells her story, Miyuri apologizes to her for forcing her to tell that story
- San asks her what she'll do once she reaches the summit
- Will she live in peace with Hiko-kun? Drive away those who pushed him to the brink?
- The background turns dark [the same way when someone's about to witch/doppel out]. Himena frowns. Miyuri whimpers
- Himena says that once she's on top, she becomes the rules
- Miyuri tells San by telepathy that she finds Himena very dangerous
- She asks if they really should accept her as their leader
- San comments that her madness, shaped by those who drove Hiko-kun to suicide, is different from the innate madness of the Magius
- That's what will drive her on
- Back to Shigure and Hagumu, the trail of magical energy they're pursuing suddenly vanishes
- They spot Jun and Mitsune instead. They seem to have defeated the witch
- Shigure and Hagumu follow them to some remote location
- Jun and Mitsune discuss their day of witch-hunting, people-saving, and Mitsune's follower count
- Posters have started criticizing Mitsune, because they still haven't solved the incidents in Takarazaki
- Mitsune starts wondering if she shouldn't have abandoned her hikikomori lifestyle
- A sudden sound puts the two on alert
- It's Shigure and Hagumu. Hagumu notices Jun's Daito uniform
- Jun hates snoops, so she and Mitsune beat a hasty retreat
- As Shigure and Hagumu follow them, Shigure says she finds it strange that Kamihama Magical Girls are investigating a Takarazaki problem
- Hagumu asks Jun if they have anything to do with the incidents
- Mitsune decides to stop and tell them their story to resolve the misunderstanding
- They ran away because like a superhero, Mitsune is afraid of having her true form revealed
- Her journey towards self-actualization led her to Takarazaki
- Shigure, curious, wants to know more about Mitsune's story
- When she's not a magical girl, Mitsune's a weak-willed hikikomori
- Playing the role of a hero while fighting witches is just a front, but she wants that to replace her real self
- She also blogs about her adventures fighting crime
- If she has people cheering her on, it might encourage her to continue being a hero
- She'll stop being someone who became a Magical Girl, but someone who is a Magical Girl
- Jun and Mitsune decided to operate in Takarazaki because the ongoing incidents are free advertising for Mitsune's hero blogs
- Also, it would be better to debut your new you in a place where no one knows the old you
- Shigure and Hagumu decide to cheer Mitsune on, because they feel a kinship with her attempt to overcome her weakness
- Later, Shigure reports back to Himena
- Even though it might be against the terms of San's test, Himena decides to offer to cooperate with them
- Shigure wonders what they could do next, since they've already investigated high and low (literally)
- Himena confesses to running out of ideas, so why not fake it?
- Shigure is unsure about deceiving San, but Himena says the sooner San and Miyuri joins them, the better
- Here's the plan: while Himena invites Mitsune and Jun, Shigure and Hagumu visit Alina
- They need to convince her to give them one of her free-range witches which they'll use for the deception
Chapter 5
- Satomi Medical Centre. Shigure and Hagumu case Alina's room
- Mifuyu and the Amanes have just walked out. Karin's with her grandma in the hospital courtyard
- Now's the time to visit Alina while she's all alone
- Alina, of course, remembers nothing, not even her personal magic
- They tell her that she can create barriers, and that she kept witches in them while she was one of the Magius
- After getting aroused by the sight of her creations, Alina decides to believe them
- But she won't just give away one of her artwork
- In exchange for the witch, she wants the two former feathers to tell her about her Magius days, since her only information about that came from KMU
- Back in Takarazaki, Mitsune meets Jun for another day of crime-solving
- They run into Himena, who re-offers to cooperate with them
- Jun asks why the change of heart
- Himena says that, as Magical Girls filled with regrets and a sense of inferiority, they're moved by their attempts to self-actualize as Magical Girls
- She explains briefly what Neo Magius is and their goal of promoting Magical Girl supremacy
- She also explains that they need additional members to help deal with the witch behind the Takarazaki crime spree
- Jun replies that even though she finds parts of her story suspicious, she admits that they are running out of time
- In the end, she defers to Mitsune, who agrees to cooperate with Neo Magius
- Jun asks Himena if she realized that incidents are the handiwork of a witch
- Himena says they've already found the culprit witch
- Jun also agrees to cooperate with them
- Later that day, right around sunset, San and Miyuri meet with Himena, Jun, and Mitsune
- Himena apologizes for taking away from their time preparing for the festival
- San doesn't mind, since the adults are busy worrying about funding for the festival anyway
- Himena thought that they had until this year for sponsorship
- Miyuri says that her dad's been reluctant to sponsor this year's festival as well
- San then wonders about the new faces
- Jun and Mitsune introduce themselves, and declare that they're cooperating with Himena
- San turns to scold Himena. She told her that bringing in more people was outside her expectations
- Himena replies, shouldn't she be praised for working beyond expectations
- San acknowledges this, since she hadn't set any firm rules for their test anyway
- Miyuri wonders where Shigure and Hagumu are. Himena says they'll deploy separately to cut off the witch's possible retreat routes
- Himena shows them her color-coded map of the incidents. There's a bunch of focal points
- She claims that Shigure and Hagumu are distracting the witch's main body (本命) in the centre, they should split up and deal with the other points
- Once they're done with the surrounding areas, they could all proceed to the main target
- Back at Satomi Medical Centre, Alina processes Shigure and Hagumu's story of her Magius past
- It doesn't contradict the story KMU told her. Alina gives them a cube containing one of her witches
- They hurry back to Takarazaki to implement Himena's plan
- Some time later, Himena calls everyone to confirm that everything's going according to plan
- Suddenly, they detect the presence of a particularly strong witch
- Miyuri starts worrying that Shigure and Hagumu might not be enough to hold it back
- Himena tells everyone to hurry towards them
- The call ends. Himena rejoices at her successful deception
- San, Miyuri, Jun, Mitsune, and Himena finally reunite with Shigure and Hagumu and locate the witch. It's near Miyuri's home
- San and Miyuri realize they have to defeat the witch before it does something to the adults discussing the festival's funding
- They enter the barrier. The atmosphere starts overwhelming Shigure and Hagumu and Miyuri
- San warns Miyuri to take deep breaths and not lose consciousness yet
- Mitsune wonders if they could have found the source of the incidents had it been just her and Jun
- Jun tells her that if they didn't give up, they would've figured it out eventually
- Mitsune cheers up. She wants to end it as soon as possible and get a lot of reposts
- Shigure and Hagumu feel embarrassed, having compared themselves to Mitsune and Jun
- Mitsune displayed more determination to change than they had
- Himena tells them that people who are dissatisfied but don't do anything about it are as good as dead
- San comments that Shigure and Hagumu finally found people that would motivate them
- The seven fight their way into the witch's labyrinth
- Jun comments that she thought they'd have a tougher time. San replies that it's too soon to judge
- They finally confront the witch. The screen darkens [like when someone's about to doppel]
- Shigure feels overwhelmed and has to steady herself
- Miyuri tells San that feels nervous. San tells her that she's taking control of her, so go all out
- [At this point Miyuri stops looking weepy and takes on a neutral expression.]
- San tells Miyuri to crush the witch immediately. San's artillery (or bullet?) barrage (弾幕) will cover her
- San is about to deal the coup de grace, but Himena tells her that it's supposed to be their test
- San obliges and stands back to watch them
- Himena asks Jun and Mitsune to help them out a bit
- Jun first comments on the nicknames, and then tells her that they've already decided to cooperate with Neo Magius
- Himena asks Mitsune to use whatever she used on a previous witch (the sensory alteration)
- [I forgot to include this, but Mitsune said back then that it's a bit taxing for her to use that ability.]
- Mitsune agrees to help. Jun creates an opening for her
- While the witch is under Mitsune's spell, Himena decides to demonstrate her ability
- She puts her hands on Shigure's and Hagumu's shoulders
- Shigure feels something weird in her body
- Himena explains that she took Hagumu's bonus damage against witches and transferred it to Shigure
- Hagumu starts worrying about losing the only thing special about her, but Himena tells her not to worry
- The transfer lasts only for an hour
- Shigure, who has better chance of hitting the witch, can now strike it with added anti-witch bonus damage
- The witch starts struggling against Mitsune's ability. Himena tells Shigure to hurry
- With one strike of her sling, David fells Goliath Shigure defeats the witch
- The barrier disappears. San comments that Shigure and Hagumu have grown compared to their days as feathers
- Himena confirms the terms of the test. They defeated the witch, so San and Miyuri have to join them
- Shigure and Hagumu start discussing Himena's deception among themselves
- San notices their long faces, and wonders why they're not happier that they passed
- Shigure makes the excuse that it hasn't sunk in yet
- San swallows her excuse, since they bore the brunt of the fighting
- Meanwhile, Himena goes to thank Jun and Mitsune
- Mitsune feels happy that she's taken another step towards self-actualization
- Jun declares that their business in Takarazaki is over, and asks if Neo Magius' area of operation is Kamihama
- She wants to know more about Neo Magius, and asks if it's okay to keep on cooperating with them
- Himena's excited that their group is growing
- We see a glimpse of the seven with smiling faces
- Hagumu's relieved that Neo Magius is finally moving in the right direction
- Later, in some forest, we see Mitsune and her doppel
- The other six are unconscious
- Mitsune apologizes to them, saying that she had no choice
- Mitsune apologizes to Jun for being involved with her
- Jun's always been worried about Mitsune and went along with her
- This time, Mitsune has to do this on her own
- Otherwise, nothing would change
