Speculah namespace was intended for everything speculah thread-related, including anything that's not official, for example. Though its use is pretty ambiguous right now, I might as well merge it back to the main namespace. --0x99 17:21, 19 January 2011 (CST)

What is "Media"

Is it is official media, is it community contributed, does it include image packs, videos, dvds, episodes, music, fanart? I think Media should probably be for official Madoka releases, and there should be a community section for fan-made stuff. --Sayaka 01:39, 23 January 2011 (CST)

Community-contributed images, AMVs or something among those line. Official releases are already listed in Products. Teasers are listed here because they're YouTube mirrors. I'm not sure we should splitting up more articles, description in each section should be enough, IMO. --0x99 03:49, 23 January 2011 (CST)

Image pack

Is it really useful to have both the content of each archive next to the download link, and a list of the overall content? Why not laying it out like this, for example:

Madoka Image Pack v00010-A.zip (182.71 MB, 434 files)

Fanarts: Mami, Mami and Charlotte, Mamilotte, Charlotte

Madoka Image Pack v00010-B.zip (177.69 MB, 502 files)

Fanarts: Madoka, Kyubey, Madoka and Homura, Homura, Nekomura

etc

Updating the look-and-feel

I don't know if I'm the only one, but this page doesn't seem too attractive to me right now. Hence, I'm trying to redesign it a bit here. Any comment, modification, addition, etc. would be welcome. Especially, I don't know how we should display the videos/tubedubber links, as well as the official content. For the latter, I thought of something like the "new" Image Pack layout but I'm afraid it would make a bit too much images on the page. --Homerun-chan 17:43, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Proposed page changes

On the sidebar, there's a Products page under the Product category, which really is a consortium of official medias (dvd/bd, cd, and dead trees). Whereas our Media page is a mixture between Teasers and Fanworks. I propose the following changes:

* Products category on the sidebar renamed into Official

* Media split into Teasers (recategorized under Official) and Fanworks (remain under Community)

* Products -> Media

Actually, I think we'll have to change the layout of the Main Page's menu soon too: for instance, a Music section would be welcome I think; or maybe even a Media section where we'd stuff Magia, Connect, the OST, Character Songs, Teasers and Fanworks?

The redesign is finished. If no one has any objection against it, I propose we move it to the main namespace at the same time. So basically what I put under "Teasers" would have its own page, and every title would move up one level and be on the new "Fanworks" page. --Homerun-chan 16:34, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Aw shucks, does that mean that the redesign work that I just recently did on the actual media page sucks now? :P In all seriousness, though, while I like a few of the aspects (like the specification of whether or not is something is a youtube or danbooru link), I see some strong potential for overlap in your division of the videos/ links for "Crossovers," "Fanmade Videos", "Alternative Stories", "Remixes and Covers", and "Others." In fact, I already see how some of the videos already there could easily belong more to just one of those categories. For example, aren't all of these videos under community content fan-made videos, not just the ones under "Fan-made Videos" And can't some of the videos under "Remixes" belong under "Crossovers" as well (like the Kamen Rider arrangement), and vice-versa? Plus, there is no acknowledgement of how some of the links (like the Star Wars/Madoka mash-up and the Magical Index remix) hit dead-ends. In the end, it could get difficult for users to think of where to exactly put their videos... I know there's some bias on my part, but I sincerely do feel that much of what's in place currently is already very streamlined while also allowing room for some flexibility of classification (particularly in my "Miscellaneous" section). It only natural that overlaps occur. But I believe it is better to give in to a little bit of ambiguity in order to have a proper classification and division. With fanworks increasing, a misc section simply isn't able to handle it: it is already way overcrowded for proper navigation, and it will only increase.
I believe an AWOL section isn't needed, a (dead link) notice besides the link should suffice. BrickBreak 22:00, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Alright, a few quick questions about the new layout, then, if it really is to stick: within each subdivision of the categories under "parodies", are the newest ones to placed at the top or bottom? Or is the order pretty free overall? (By the way, apologies if I sounded anal earlier... looking at the whole of the reconstructed media page, it comes more streamlined than I thought it would be.) Also, about the whole "Others" section... couldn't its present content, the Wrestling mod and the Mahou Sentai OP Parody, just be put into the "Crossovers" category? Answering to a bit everyone:

• I made the classification of the videos before you (ani-redeemed) made them here, and without actually seeing the changes made here, so it's only natural both pages aren't the same. I'm not eager to keep my own sectionning, so if you think another method is more relevant, feel free to change it
  • The section's name is what I came up with on the moment. "Fanmade videos" isn't explicit enough indeed, but I didn't really see anything more fitting...
  • ... and the "Others" section is basically where to put videos when you don't know where they belong. I didn't have the time to watch all of them so I made my ordering based on the descriptions only; they may be misplaced indeed.
  • If you think a link would fit better in another section, feel free to change it. Same goes with sections and everything in fact. It's still a wiki page (even though it's in my personal namespace for now), so do what you like with it :)
• Regarding the ordering, I just copypasted the links from here and made them into tables, so I didn't change it. I suppose they should be ordered by date, newest first, or maybe by topic? Anyway, that's a pretty subjective criterion, so feel free to change it as you like
• Same remark regarding dead links. I just copypasted the links from here (before Animerican-Redeemed refactored the page) so I didn't check them. I just removed one link from the fangames 'cause I noticed it was dead when taking the screenshots. We should probably check the links, and comment the ones that are dead indeed.
• I also tried to keep my page up-to-date, i.e. reflecting the changes there. Better check once again before refactoring, but normally there shouldn't be too much things missing.
