Tsuruno Yui reflects on her time at Mikazuki Villa. Doing awesome stuff as the Mightiest Magical Girl is the path to restoring her family name. Though she lost some friends along the way and had to put on a brave face, she made memories at Mikazuki Villa that she will always treasure.

Tsuruno introduces Mel to Team Nanami. She describes each member: Yachiyo as the skilled veteran leader, Mifuyu as the supportive number two, and Momoko as the sweetheart who cannot walk away from someone in need. Tsuruno calls herself the Mightiest Magical Girl. Mel is the fortune-telling powerhouse.

They hunt a Witch together. Mel tries to help but gets in the way. Tsuruno and the others reassure her that she will get used to the team. They go to Banbanzai for a welcome party. Mel gives the restaurant a 50 out of 100.

Tsuruno explains her backstory. Her family's restaurant used to be famous but declined after her father took over. Her grandmother and mother took the money her grandfather left behind and went on a luxury cruise. Tsuruno wished to win the lottery and won 800 million yen, but her grandmother and mother took the money. Tsuruno protected her grandfather's belongings and now works to restore Banbanzai and the Yui family name. She became Yachiyo's disciple to become the Mightiest Magical Girl.

At the party, Tsuruno notices Mel is struggling to talk to anyone other than Yachiyo. She acts silly to lighten the mood and get Mel to open up. She succeeds, and they exchange contact info. They begin messaging often.

Mel learns hypnosis and tries it on Tsuruno. It does not work, but Tsuruno plays along to make her happy. During a Witch fight, Mel tries hypnosis again. Tsuruno pretends it works and charges in alone. Mel believes it worked and supports her. The team defeats the Witch. Tsuruno fakes exhaustion to prevent Mel from trying again. Momoko later figures out the hypnosis was fake, and Tsuruno admits it.

Mel wants to see Tsuruno, but Tsuruno has to help at the restaurant. She says she will see Mel tomorrow.

The next day, Tsuruno learns Mel is dead. She was the only one who did not go Witch hunting that day. She blames herself. The others tell her it is not her fault.

That evening, Tsuruno returns to Mikazuki Villa to retrieve her bag. She overhears Yachiyo, Momoko, and Mifuyu talking about something serious related to Mel. She decides not to intrude and leaves. She finds an unread message from Mel, asking to divine whether the new Banbanzai menu will be a hit. Tsuruno messages back, but Mel never replied. Tsuruno breaks down crying.

After Mel's death, the team begins to fall apart. Mifuyu disappears. Yachiyo starts avoiding everyone and stops smiling. She disbands the team, saying they are no longer friends. Momoko leaves, exhausted by everything. Tsuruno decides she must stay the same so Yachiyo is not left completely alone. She hears a rumor about a shrine that lets you see whoever you long to see. She vows to always keep smiling and wait for the day Yachiyo returns.
