! Q: The first two movies (Beginning, Eternal) were imaged by you as the further 1-2 time loops of the original series.  So where will you place this new movie?
|-
| Shinbo: For me, the TV series was already complete, because the TV series has no need for derivationsFor this "New" movie, Beginning and Eternal are crucial, but there is no need for a connection between the TV series and this new movie, that's how I see it.
|-
! Q: So this new movie is a continuation of Beginning and Eternal?
|-
| Shinbo: Yes, for example, Sayaka's hairclip from her magical girl outfit was not in the original series, but appeared in Beginning and Eternal.
|-
! Q: This movie introduced a new character.  How did this decision come about?
|-
| Shinbo: It was actually during the stage when the plot, and the script was prepared by Urobutchi.  Introducing a new character felt natural from the beginning.  Calling the Candy Witch "Bebe" was a request from Inu Curry.  During the story before this, Witch Runes would appear whenever a Witch did.  But within the story itself, nobody can read  these runes.  Even if the viewers managed to decipher the runes, the characters won't know how to read them.  That's why the girls call her "Bebe."  This should be the first thing fans that watch the movie be surprised about.
|-
! Q: So the names written in Witch Runes were the Witches' actual names?
|-
| Shinbo: During the TV series, I was surprised that there was people overseas who successfully managed to decipher the Witch Runes.  For a work to be hyped in that way, it was an interesting experience.

!Q: What kind of story were you planning to do in the first place?
|-
|A: My idea was Homura becoming a witch and her story inside of the barrier. This time the conclusion was supposed to be "Madoka bringing Homura along". I thought the story would end this time for sure. (laughs) However, both Iwakami-san (producer) and Shinbo-san seemed to be thinking that they wanted the story to continue. It took a while to get an OK on this idea. I was wondering how could I do this when Shinbo-san suddenly told me "It may be nice if you make Homura and Madoka enemies". After that I had a breakthrough. I decided to make Homura oppose Madoka.

* "While the show was still airing Iwagami approached me and asked what I thought about doing a sequel. I just laughed it off and didn't take it seriously but he repeated it several times and I eventually realised he was serious."
* They came up with the idea for a sequel through brainstorming sessions, and this idea of it taking place inside Homura's soul gem as she starts to become a witch was the first idea they came up with.
* The big plot twist WASN'T Urobuchi's idea, he was going to have Madoka just take Homura away and the end, but Iwagami and Shinbou wanted to be able to let it continue.
* Having Madoka and Homura being on opposite sides at the end was Shinbou's idea.
* On QB: "I wrote him to seem less all-powerful than in the TV series. He's just an alien in the end, he can't stand up to a god."
* A second season WAS considered but they didn't have enough material to drag out for 12 episodes.
* Bebe was inspired by all the figures and stuff pairing Mami up with the candy witch.
* Urobuchi starting writing this immediately after the TV series. Aside from dialogue the script is mostly barebones as he wanted to leave decisions on visuals to Shaft.
* He says that he's sure some people will hate the movie; The current trend is for timeless, unchanging characters. The characters in the movie however do change, and he's sure that there will be people who will complain about them being "out of character" when in fact they're just growing as human beings.
* Finally he says that he's written all there is to Homura and Madoka, and that if there are stories that exist beyond this point, that's for other people to write.
