Fan Translation: "My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Rumor of the Awaiters' Horse! Mizuna Shrine’s god? Why, he’s a fancy and suave gentleman steed! A charming fellow who’ll grant your dearest wish: to meet with the person you want to meet most! But too bad, so sad. They’re just a mirage. And once you clue in and say they’re not real, that fine gentlesteed? He’ll turn into a gangster who kicks like a mule! It’s a rumor that ALL the people in Mizuna Ward are talking about. Geeze, what a JERK!"

Official Translation: Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Rumor of the Commoner's Horse. The god of this shrine is a fancy and kind horse! He's a cool guy that grants people's wishes, bringing them to who they are searching for. But too bad! As it turns out, it's all just an illusion. If you realize it's not real and deny it, the kind horse will turn into a gangster! Everyone in Mizuna Ward is talking about it!

Uwasa of the Séance Tablet (口寄せ絵馬のウワサ, lit. Rumor of the Summoning Plaques)

EpisodesPuella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record, Magia Record Episode 4

Fan Translation: "My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Rumor of the Summoning Plaques! These big, buzzing, bug-looking plaques are helpful guides(?) to the Awaiters' Horse! On closer look, they’re ema plaques, upon which someone wrote another someone’s name. In fact, if you catch one such plaque and wave someone’s body part around, POOF! That someone will appear right there! It’s a rumor that ALL the people in Mizuna Ward are talking about. Come one, come aaaaall!"

Official Translation: Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Rumor of the Seance Tablet. This tablet looks like a huge winged bug, but it may just guide you to the Commoner's Horse! Look at it closely and you'll notice someone's name written on it. In Mizuna Ward they say that if you catch this tablet and put someone's body part on it, they will magically appear! Come on over!

In the Anime

  • The content of Rumor was slightly changed from the game. Here's the text of Rumor that was changed (It's a fan translation)

Do you want to take back the past you lost? If you sincerely want to recover the memory you regret or the person you broke up with, please leave it to our god! If you write the name you want to meet on an ema plaque, worship and pray properly, the god will bring them to you. But beware! Beware! You'll get lost in bliss and never be able to return home. It's the hot rumor in Mizuna area! Sojourrrn!

  • The victims of the Rumor are stamped with a stamp in the shape of an ema plaques, like the Witch's kiss.
    • The symbol of torii gate used for this stamp is the same as the one that appeared in Episode 1.
  • The Uwasa's barrier in the anime is a space that is impressive in a flaming red sunset sky (even though it's nighttime outside), with many torii gates and arched bridges are in disarray. They appears to be transformations of the real structures of the Mizuna Shrine. It is unlike the barrier in the game which is a space in the nighttime same as outside.
    • The barrier was redesigned by J・A・Seazer.
  • The sound effect of the barrier collapsing sounds to be different from that of the Witches.

Trivia

  • The horse uwasa is a bit difficult to translate into English; it's name includes the word "machibito" which means either the person being waited for or the person who is waiting. This term is often used on the O-mikuji, the fortune paper that can be received at Shinto shrine.
    • Also, the tablet Uwasa refers to the Ema (絵馬, lit. "picture-horse") plaque. As the name implies, this wish-writing tablet is derived from the real horses that had been dedicated to the shrine in old times. So, the horse Uwasa may be a reference to it too.
  • The horse Uwasa in the anime is a slimy, elongated dragon-like creature. This may be a reference to 守宮 (newt or geckos, "imori" or "yamori", lit. "guardian of shrine"). It's the Yokai of newt, or the kanji spelling for geckos, but both of them have long been confused in Japan.
