Summary
A Magical Girl who believes in equality on the edge of destruction. By incorporating sorrow through adjustment, she is constantly trapped in grief. Her goal is to become a common enemy to the people living in Kamihama City and in so doing unite them, and she is prepared to give up her own life for this.
Doppel Description
The Doppel of dismantlement. Its form is a soot lion.
The master of this motion patiently waits for her sorrow to be relieved by the destruction that her Doppel bestows.
In order to build a fair and equitable paradise in accordance with its master’s will, the Doppel attempts to destroy everything, while simultaneously playing a requiem not unlike an anguished wail.
However, its actions only amount to mere dismantlement. Though it can reduce everything around it to smithereens, only hollow cadavers are left behind. And because the Doppel itself doesn’t realize this, it will continue reducing its surroundings to smithereens for as long as equality fails to manifest– thus, it simply rampages until its strength gives out.

Summary by bigscarythings Much like Darknagi's MGS, we move into getting the events of Chapter 10 from Mitama's perspective, then moving through time after Arc 2 until we return back to the present day. A lot of it relies on reading Chapter 10 for yourself (but the draft TL is done, so people should go read it if they have the chance!), but for the big choice bits, Mitama struggles with how she both wants to crush everyone who's wronged her, but also...just wanted an apology from them, too. This leads us to the vision in Mitama's 4* card - where she felt like the only way to get that apology was to make everyone fear her. In the end, Mikage's plan saved MitaKana both, but even now, with everything resolved, Mitama...doesn't really know how to go back to normal. With the fallout of their actions settled, Mitama, like Kanagi, wants to apologize - but where Kanagi's apology focused on the girls of the East, Mitama wants to apologize to everyone. But knowing that she nearly destroyed the things people cherished, or how she almost committed mass slaughter, a simple apology feels very hollow...but all the same, Mitama doesn't know how to make sincere repentance. That is - until Momoko comes knocking at the door to her shop. With the door locked, Momoko, worried and harried, shouted to be let inside. Once inside, first things first - Momoko asks if Mitama's had lunch. It's late in the afternoon, and Mitama realized she's forgotten. Anticipating this, Momoko brought along some snacks. It gets Mitama even more guilty about how she almost destroyed this...but she thanks Momoko. Momoko, again, reads Mitama like a (partly) open book - she can tell Mitama is trying to find a way to apologize, and is constantly worrying over that. She asks if there's a way she can help Mitama. Mitama admits that with Momoko (among other megucas) coming in to check on Mitama so often...it sinks in just how horrible Mitama's actions are, and an apology feels even more impossible. She has no idea how to start over... Momoko understands, but tells her she can start over - she just needs to tell everyone else how she feels. And with that, Momoko starts contacting all the other megucas; Mitama quickly stops her, but Momoko knows Mitama can't do this on her own. Besides, it's in Momoko's nature to stick her nose in things that don't belong - so let Momoko be selfish again this time. After a pause, Mitama thanks and apologizes to Momoko for being such a burden on her; Momoko just says if that's how Mitama feels, then Mitama just ought to work on getting back to her usual self as soon as possible. Thanks to Momoko's efforts, lots of megucas assemble at Mitama's shop - the only ones who couldn't make it either had plans in place, and sent messages to Mitama instead. And with how faithfully all the magical girls arrived, Mitama is again lost on how to apologize...and says as much. She remarks that she doesn't know how to atone for what she's done, but she can at least say this: "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." After a long silence, Yachiyo speaks up first - saying that this time, Mitama's gone too far. Hinano adds that Mitama should have at least tried communicating with everyone else, but Maria sympathizes, realizing that Mitama must've felt so desperate that she didn't feel like she had time to speak up... Mitama realizes that with how carefully they're all speaking, that they, too, and trying to figure out how to forgive. But gradually, it comes easier - among the various girls to speak, Nanaka adds that she understands Mitama's urge towards revenge; Meiyui says that Mitama can't change the past, but can change the future; Ria simply sighs and says if Mitama's fine now, then everything else is fine, too; Riko just cries out for Big Sis Mitama and gives her a big hug; and Himika calls Mitama and Kanagi two huge idiots. After everyone says what they need to say, silence falls over the office again, and Yachiyo, speaking on everyone's behalf, says they all accept her apology. From there, they all talk about everything for a long time. Mitama is relieved and happy that they all accepted her now, but...still the fact remains that she was going to kill them all, and her self-resentment deepens. From there, Mitama, trying to act like her usual cheerful self, does free Coodinations for everyone, shown in a montage of visitors, from FeliSana to the Azaleas - at one point, Ren notes that Mitama had given her a free Coordination last time, too, and wants to pay for it this time, but Mitama refuses to allow her to do so. Mitama even gives out free candy now, much to Felicia's delight. But eventually, Momoko visits Mitama again...to apologize. Mitama wonders why, and Momoko explains - Mitama has been doing all her Coordinations for free lately, hasn't she? Mitama says it's her way of apology. But it's not just that - Mitama's been doing a lot of free services, even things like homework help, things she never would've done before. And Mitama seems very sad, too - it gives everyone the feeling that they're bullying her, in a way... Mitama instantly protests upon hearing that word, but Momoko stresses that this is just the impression people get, given Mitama's behavior when she's doing business. Mitama says she's just trying to get things back to normal. And that cues Momoko's apology - she's sorry for trying to force Mitama back on her feet before she was ready. Mitama insists Momoko has nothing to apologize for - she needed that push in order to aplogize, and now everyone has forgiven her...but Momoko asks, has Mitama forgiven *herself?* Upon saying that, Mitama finally realizes all the guilt, disgust and loathing she feels towards herself, and how it blinded her and made her behavior disengenuine. Momoko apologizes again, saying Mitama must've felt like the apology was a big setup, but Mitama insists again that's not so - she really was happy that Momoko went the full stretch to do it. Mitama thinks, though, that she may not be able to forgive herself for the rest of her life, even if she spends all her days trying to make amends... Momoko says she can't do anything to change how Mitama feels about herself, but says that if Mitama wants to make amends, then it's wrong for her to cut herself down/force herself to suffer. Really, no one knows the correct way to atone, let alone for things like this, but...if she wants to make amends, then it's okay for Mitama to let herself be herself again, one tiny bit at a time. Mitama says she can't go back...she can't forgive herself, after all... But, as Momoko asks: does she think she can face Kamihama again? Mitama absorbs this, silent for a moment, then asks that Momoko give her some time to herself in order to think. Momoko says alright - she'll be back shortly to check on her. Once gone, Mitama finally allows herself to break down, and sobs profusely. Alone, Mitama reflects on her days as a Coordinator - like the day she got her first customer, and how, over time, more and more magical girls started frequenting her. And not just for Coordinations, but to hang out or join events hosted there. The shop has become irreplaceable to Mitama - and she wants to bring those days back, if only for everyone else's sake. Later, Mitama tells Kanagi that she's joining the East-West student conference, explaining that she can't change if she remains where she is - by joining a dynamic organization, Mitama can change, too. Besides, she has a lot of event hosting experience under her belt, and with the opportunity to create a place that transcends Kamihama's boundaries, Mitama wants to help. But that leaves just one thing...she thinks on how she'd wanted to destroy the city and punish everyone, but also to be forgiven...and that she knew what she needed all along - to properly forgive herself, she needs to forgive everyone else, too. Before anything else, though, Mikage insists that Mitama come home today. While Mitama has skipped out on coming home before, it's the first time she hasn't been home in ages - while it's awkward to come home like this, it'll only be even more awkward if she keeps putting it off, so Mikage's lugging her home. It takes her back to what happened after Mizuna - while her parents didn't blame Mitama one bit for what happened, she felt like they must've had a hard time worrying about her and dealing with her... On her way home with Mikage, she tries to come up with a story about how she'd tried to run away from home, in an attempt to dodge getting reamed at or having to explain magical girls, but...instead of what she expects, she gets her parents fussing over her, relieved that she's finally returned. And they apologize to her, too. Mitama doesn't understand why - she, after all, was the one who'd abandoned them. But her parents talk about Mizuna, how Mitama must have been in serious pain over it... Silently, Mitama notes how it's not the first time her parents have apologized to her. In the past, though, Mitama had blown it off cheerfully - but deep down, wondered, "Why don't you guys understand me?" For instance, back when Mitama was expelled from school, her parents had gone around apologizing to the neighbors of Daito, in order to smoothen things over for Mitama - but all Mitama saw was that she herself was a victim of Mizuna, and yet her parents were apologizing on her behalf? To her, that made it seem like she was the one at fault... But, having spoken about this with Kanagi, Mitama has come to understand now - that even though this wasn't Mitama's fault, her parents had to apologize first to make it easier for the other person to accept Mitama again - to make it so that other people won't hurt Mitama anymore. Mitama's parents seem to understand this was what had pained Mitama, and aplogize for it - while their intentions were to protect Mitama, they had actually hurt her in turn. Rather than kowtowing to others, they should have supported Mitama. They should have told Mitama how they felt, even though they felt like words wouldn't be enough. It all clicks for Mitama now - that her parents were apologizing to Mitama in order to open the door for her. They reflected on their own mistakes and tried to show their sincere regret and gratitude. For the first time in ages, Mitama calls her parents, "Mama...Papa..." And she feels again how upon hearing their apology, she at once wanted to punish and rub their pain in, and also to forgive them and let go. So Mitama finally talks about her feelings, putting them in words - and says she understands now. All this time, they were all just doing their best with what they had. And that's enough. With that - Mitama's heart feels a little lighter, and she wants her parents to feel alleviated, too. She doesn't want them to be trapped in the past anymore, but to forgive each other and move forward. After much crying and finally some laughs, they send Mitama off to have a hot bath - afterwards, they'll have a big dinner with Mitama's favorite foods. In the shower, Mitama reazlis how long it's been since she's spoken with her family or had a relaxing bath...and cries again. As her tears flow away, so does some of her self-hatred, sadness, and anger... Back in the present, Mitama reflects some more - hoping that the Mizuna girl who had betrayed her, who came to apologize to her, can now live her life to the fullest without erring again. While Mitama still can't forgive herself...she'll keep trying to make amends until the day comes where she can tell herself that she's done enough. She and Kanagi observe that despite their mistakes, they're still alive - and thus, they have the chance to atone. Back then, the only future they saw was one that ended in fire, but now a different answer lays before them. The past hasn't changed, but the path foward certainly has. Kanagi says, with both of their power..no, with *everyone's* power, they'll bring equality to Kamihama. And that brings them back to discussing the conference. Mitama says she's already got some ideas - a sports festival, with lots of food stalls! They'll end things with a romantic night of dancing by a bonfire...but Kanagi cottons onto that "romance" aspect, chuckling about how it's very much like Mitama to come up with something like that. But Mitama points out, doesn't Kanagi's little brother have a sweetheart now? Kanagi is flummoxed, Mitama teases Kanagi a bit about how clueless she is, but Kanagi observes that even kids these days find love in the air... Mitama says, well, when that day comes, they'll have to figure out if that special someone is right for Mikage...but they mustn't get too ahead of themselves. For now, they just have to take their future one step at a time, at their own pace. |
