Doppel Description

SOTRIA (Sotria)

The Doppel of Anguish.
Its form is a Ballroom Dancer.
The master of this emotion has been given the duty of changing the foretold future. A strong wind blows, scattering flowers, the petals of which drift into another world. When the mist at last accumulates, the time comes. It intermingles with the fluttering flower petals, and the festivities begin. The Doppel starts to dance, and at the dance's climax, the enemy shadows vanish like flowers in a storm as an offering to the festivities.

**Unique to Oriko Mikuni**
Since my childhood, I have read "Crime and Punishment" more times than I can recall. The protagonist bears a striking resemblance to that girl. However, only those who can bear the "weight of death" are fit to become her pawns.

Side Story

Oriko Mikuni's Side Story

Oriko's side story begins as a partial adaptation of Puella Magi Oriko Magica. After Oriko contracts with Kyubey, she sees Madoka Kaname becoming Kriemhild Gretchen and ending the world. Oriko leads Kyubey to Yuma Chitose, using her as a distraction to keep him away from Madoka. She later entices Yuma to contract when she tells Yuma Kyoko Sakura is fighting a witch. Oriko then meets Kirika Kure and asks her to become her pawn. Later, Kyubey tells Oriko a magical girl was killed by another one. She confronts Kirika who apologizes for what happened. Oriko did not expect Kirika would kill, but decides to use the murders to further distract Kyubey.

Oriko sees another vision of Madoka. She thinks she has to find and kill her before Kyubey does. Then Oriko realizes that Madoka is not in Mitakihara but somewhere else. She sees a bizarre distortion in space that causes Mami Tomoe and Kyoko Sakura to appear. After her vision ends, Oriko believes that some sort of spatial distortion is connecting Mitakihara and the place she saw, Kamihama City. Oriko wonders if Kamiahama can change the future.

The next day Oriko tells Kirika about her vision. She has another vision of Mami and Kyoko entering Kamihama later that day. She decides to send Kirika to Kamihama, telling her about a "famous black tea shop" there. She also tells Kirika that Mami and other magical girls will be there and asks Kirika to be a distraction without taking their lives. She also wants Kirika to asks them about Kamihama. Kirika agrees and the story reveals this took place after Kirika fought Mami in Oriko Magica. Oriko then prepares to go to Kamihama separately. Believing that Kyubey will meddle in Kamihama, she decides to create another distraction for him.

Oriko appears before Yuma again and tells her Kyoko is in danger once more. Yuma said Kyoko went to Kamihama and asks if Oriko knows where it is. Oriko says she'll take Yuma there, and believes Kyubey will follow. Once at Kamihama Oriko overuses a Grief Seed and rehatches the witch. She leaves Yuma in the barrier, saying Kyoko will come to rescue her. When she leaves the barrier, Oriko is spotted by Shizuku Hozumi. Oriko recognizes Shizuku, having seen her in a vision with Kyoko. Oriko introduces herself and says she's from a different city. Shizuku notes that many magical girls are coming to Kamihama lately. Shizuku asks if she's there to hunt all the witches. Oriko says she's chasing after Yuma. With her future sight, she knows Shizuku will tell Kyoko about Yuma, leading to Yuma's rescue. Elsewhere, Kyoko worries she's been away from Yuma for too long. Back with Oriko, Shizuku recognizes Yuma's name as Kyoko told her about Yuma. Shizuku says she should tell Kyoko Yuma is in the city. Oriko departs, pretending to look for Yuma.

Oriko takes the opportunity to look around Kamihama, trying to find answers. However, she finds herself caught in a witch barrier. The witch is so powerful that Oriko nearly loses. She realizes she'll need to come back with Kirika to find answers. Oriko returns home before Kirika does. This is as Oriko expecting, but she then finds Kirika is late. Oriko flashes back to when Kirika was injured by Mami. Kirika tells Oriko about how Oriko helped her when they first met, and that her wish was to become someone befitting of Oriko. Kirika says she wished for Oriko's sake, and that the Kirika she knows is a fake. Oriko says that Kirika must pay her back by protecting her forever. Back in the present, Oriko thinks Kirika promised so she must come back.

Kirika then finally returns, apologizing for not getting the tea. She says she got in a fight with Mami and Kyoko. Oriko is just happy Kirika came back. Kirika did get tea from a supermarket. She says that both Mami and Kyoko had no idea what was happening with Kamihama, and they were investigating themselves. Kirika also noticed the large amount of witches there. Oriko says Kirika's errand was successful. Oriko wonders if she should send Kirika to Kamihama again, worried she will get hurt. Oriko then flashes back to her father's suicide and subsequent bullying. She thinks that even after becoming a magical girl, she wanted someone to notice herself for who she was. The next day, Oriko wakes up to find Kirika bought more tea from Kamihama. Oriko notes that the girl she was looking for is right here.

Trivia

    • It's modified spelling is similar to the Italian word "storia", meaning "history".
    • The name is also similar to that of the Greek goddess of salvation, Soteria.
    • Notably, her witch name sounds similar to Latria, Kirika's witch name.
