Talk:Sources for Character Ages in Magia Record

I knocked down as many Citation Neededs as I could, but there are still some left:

• Yuna Kureha
• Shizuka Tokime (the fact that she does not go to school)
• Alexandra Kurusu (her age listed on the wiki, 16, is inconsistent with the grade she attends, High 2. We've had girls like Rika and Kokoro who are indeed one year younger than most of their classmates, but still, I couldn't have found anything on Sasha being 16)
• Mikage Yakumo (evidence for her being an elementary schooler is easy to find, but not on her being 12 specifically. There is a conversation in her training event in which the age of 12 is directly mentioned, but only in conjunction with Mifuyu's and Yachiyo's age when they first used make-up)
• Sudachi Sawa
• Kuroe
• Tsumugi Wakana
• Hotori Yuzuki
• Rion Yuzuki
• Meguru Hibiki
• Sakurako Hiiragi (her apparent age and grade)
• Ashley Taylor

I managed to clear out the situation with Mikage and Sudachi, but others are still a huge mess...

It does sound contradictory for Alexandra to be 16 and in the 2nd year of high school. There's the chance she skipped a grade, but it doesn't seem all that likely. It would be consistent with 1st year high school but I think I remember someone referring to her as "sempai" so she probably needs to be at least 2nd year. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 00:30, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

I wouldn't be surprised if someone extrapolated it based on Sasha's grade, but forgot to take into the account that most of her MSS happens a year earlier. After all:

先生: おい、１年生 休憩終わりだ
Teacher: Hey, first-years, break time’s over.

アレクサンドラ: えっ、もうですか？
Alexandra: Huh, already?

あ？数学の？ ちょっと怖いよな
[NPC Blue] Huh? The math teacher? He’s kinda scary.
感情が見えないっていうか… そもそもあるのかな
[NPC Blue] I can never tell what he’s feeling...or rather, I don’t know if he feels anything in the first place.

アレクサンドラ: （男の子からも…）
Alexandra: (Even from the boys...)

はい、高等部の… 声楽部の先生のことでしょうか
[NPC Indigo] He’s the high school section’s...Vocal Music Club advisor, right?

But also, right at the beginning of the MSS:

アレクサンドラ: きっと１年以上前の 魔法少女になる前の私だ…
[Narration] Alexandra: That must be me from over a year ago, before I became a Magical Girl...
アレクサンドラ: …ああ、そっか
[Narration] Alexandra: ...Ahhh, I see.
アレクサンドラ: これは私が恋をしていた頃の夢…
[Narration] Alexandra: This is a dream of the time I was in love...
