The Magia Exedra Universe is the universe following that of Magia Record in some way. It depicts the Lighthouse Theatre, situated as a hub between different realities and possibilities, and the story follows a Nameless Girl, A-Q and Nighthawk.[1] A lot of details are heavily hinted at, but not technically confirmed. Such details have been marked as theories. This timeline is depicted in:

  1. Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra

The Past

  • The Lighthouse originally existed inside a specific universe, where it began collecting vast amounts of data from various times and spaces, causing its "magnetic force" to grow so strong that it was pulled out of its original universe and into an "outer place" from which all universes can be observed. It was then tied to too many different times and spaces, making its existence precarious. It serves as a beacon that guides the wandering souls of Magical Girls.
    • A-Q theorizes this happened due to greed, but it is unclear what this means.
  • The Lighthouse exists outside of the universe in a place of pure "rules" or "concepts." Here, things exist in their "complete forms," which is explained as a place where "a ball is a ball as long as it can be rolled, regardless of its color or size." The existence of individuals in this conceptual space is "anomalous" and a special phenomenon that could theoretically collapse at any time. The twinkling lights seen from the Lighthouse are not stars, but likely entire universes. The Lighthouse exists in a place where one can "wholly gaze at all the universes."
  • Before A-Q, there was another lighthouse keeper. This predecessor might have had the power to foresee that Memsparks would one day be scattered. After A-Q came to the Lighthouse, the previous curator likely left.
  • A-Q himself, despite looking like an Incubator, is an entirely different being, and as such cannot make contracts. A-Q is chosen as the lighthouse keeper, likely due to their power to create Labyrinths.
    • At some point in A-Q's past, there were times where he worked with two others, then worked with one single other person, and even a big group. He never tires of studying and learning, and also has a recurring desire for strawberry milk.
  • Nighthawk also arrives to the Lighthouse and starts working as a collector and trader of items.
    • Among his possessions, Nighthawk treasures a cookbook filled with recipes, such as tofu Hamburg steak, that belonged to someone else A-Q knew.
    • There's also a childlike drawing of four girls in front of a cherry blossom tree, as well as a special Camera, which a version of Bebe often come by and steals from Nighthawk.
  • In a massive, ancient collection of books stored in a special room in the Lighthouse, one of the books present is Puella Magi Diarium.
The theories below have not been proven yet.
Please keep in mind that they are fanmade theories, and not official material.
  • It is possible that the Lighthouse's function is to archive the lives of Magical Girls, or guide them to the Law of Cycles. As Magia Exedra takes place after Rebellion and Arc 2 (as seen from the appearance of Puella Magi Diarium), the Lighthouse may be what happened to the original Magia Record, with Infinite Iroha having left to possibly help maintain the Law of Cycles after Homura split Ultimate Madoka in half.
    • As A-Q is noted to be able to make Labyrinths in a form similar to Alina's, as well as their interest in art and love of strawberry milk, A-Q is probably what became of Alina Gray. A-Q also states he was previously a part of a trio (the three Magius), then a duo (Alina and Mikoto Sena) and part of a greater group (possibly the entire Automatic Purification System). At the end of Magia Record, Alina makes it a goal to be part of the Doppel System/Magia Record herself, like Touka and Nemu were.
    • Nighthawk bears many associations with Kuroe. Despite Ichizo being the Nighthawk Witch and similar in appearance to Nighthawk, Kuroe also owns a plush very similar in appearance to Nightawk himself. The cookbook Nighthawk owns is likely Iroha's, who owned a similar notebook, as seen in her Memoria. Meanwhile, the drawing of the four girls in front of the cherry blossom is most certainly of Iroha, Touka, Nemu and Ui in front of the Eternal Sakura. Similar to Alina, Kuroe also aimed to go reach the Magia Record, but her reasoning was to see Iroha again, and in Kuroe's last appearance in Magia Record, there's a new Rumor of the Nighthawk, a creature that spreads the gospel of the Magia Record.

Present Day

  • The Nameless Girl arrives to the Lighthouse from an endless darkness, only remembering she was once a Magical Girl. She finds a Memspark, unlocking her first Puella Pictura and sees Madoka's memory, where she dreamed of Homura fighting Walpurgisnacht. The Memspark rekindles the light in the Chamber, and the girl goes downstairs, where she's greeted by A-Q. He explains to her the Memspark, Pictura and how the Lighthouse guides the souls of Magical Girls.
    • When the Nameless Girl asks about her appearance, A-Q theorizes that her memories of her previous life must have faded completely. He seems to lose interest briefly until she feels something he labels uncertainty. She recalls feeling something when she touched the Memspark, thus A-Q asks her to help him gather more Memsparks to make the Lighthouse brighter. To seal the deal, A-Q properly introduces himself.
    • He shows the Nameless Girl her first Window Into Memory, the First Rose Garden Window. A-Q says the Memsparks connect to a girl who cannot see her worth, what can be learned from tagging along to a battle, explanations of Magical Girls and Witches, forewarning about becoming a Magical Girl, and indecision about a wish. He stops her from entering and gives the Nameless Girl her first Kioku, so she could take the form of the Magical Girl inside the Window and protect herself against danger. The Nameless Girl enters the Window taking the form of Madoka and experiences a flash of memories from the final timeline of the original universe, also finding a Magia Key.
    • Upon returning to the Lighthouse and A-Q explains her desire to seek out Memsparks is called hope. He also explains the Magia Key she found was quite a miracle, and it will allow her to call forth Kioku. He points her to the Wondrous Door, where he guides her through using the Key and helps her gather more Kioku.
    • The Nameless Girl wants to try the Window Into Memory again, but A-Q shows her around the Lighthouse some more. They encounter Nighthawk at his corner and A-Q explains that Nighthawk works as a trader, exchanging the stuff he's gathered with something of equal value to him. He shows her around the rest of the Lighthouse's features.
    • As they'll be spending a lot of time together, A-Q asks the Nameless Girl to pick a name, however after she insists, A-Q picks a name for her. As she's about to enter the Window, A-Q expresses his excitement about seeing how she'll change from her new experiences, as she's already learned both uncertainty and hope. He tells her that even if she never finds the self she lost, she will gain the power to create a new self, and seeing a development for emotions such as her is quite exciting for him.

Memory Windows

As Name explores the Windows Into Memory, they mostly follow the same structure, especially when introducing and completing a section. To avoid repeating the same details each time, this is how the story plays out:

  • Window Unlock: Name senses an unfamiliar emotion from the new Window. A-Q explains that the Memsparks will connect something unique. When Name asks what event they will piece together, A-Q gives a description of the overall story's premise, without mentioning characters or such details by name.
    • Floors Complete: After Name completes a section of the Window, A-Q asks if she feels anything after collecting more Memsparks. Name describes her feelings, and after A-Q explains and helps her deal with them, he tells her to go back and continue exploring the Window so another Puella Pictura can be unlocked. Once the last section is complete, A-Q asks how she feels after collecting all the Memsparks, after which the two proceed to have another conversation, usually regarding the Window, or the nature of the Lighthouse, or Name herself. After the window is complete, A-Q explains to Name the emotions she felt and how to get a handle on them. A-Q then goes to prepare the next Window, saying the Lighthouse is looking brighter and another Puella Pictura will unlock soon.
  • Battler Difficulty: Collecting more parts of the Pictura, Name says she can almost see the people and the scenery within, and A-Q explains the outward appearance of what the Pictura conveys.
  • Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she feels she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents within. As she completes the final pieces, A-Q asks about the emotions she's feeling, and encourages her to proceed, as she may understand more if she sees the full image. Once the full Puella Pictura is complete, A-Q says this wondrous work is the result of her efforts to piece together a precious tale and gifts the portrait just for her. Name thanks him and details how the new emotions and memories make her feel. In the end, A-Q says the Puella Pictura lent her strength for collecting its Memsparks, and when Name asks why, he gives her an additional title. These titles start out with Guarding Light of and the object of the preposition changes with each entry.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

  • Rose Garden Witch Part I: After gathering many Memsparks, A-Q says she has been a big help. He cannot sense a full story from one Memspark, but he knows it is a cherished memory. Once the Window is complete, Name still hasn't found what she lost, but she feels a new emotion: thoughts running every which way, like going in circles yet standing still. A-Q calls this feeling confounded – not knowing what to think or do. She wonders why she was smiling. A-Q explains that if her heart felt lighter at the same time, that is happiness. Name decides she wants to collect more Memsparks to become happier. A-Q notes the Lighthouse is brighter and another Puella Pictura will unlock soon.
  • Upgrade Quests Unlock: To train her Kioku, A-Q explains she can use the Window of the Symbol Witch that he prepared for her.
  • Rose Garden Witch Part II: Name notices this Window feels similar to the last. A-Q says the Memsparks connect to a girl who cannot see her own worth, lessons learned from tagging along to a battle, explanations of Magical Girls and Witches, the reason to risk your life, a forewarning about becoming a Magical Girl, and indecision about a wish.
    • After collecting everything, Name felt she wanted to be like someone – touching her deeply, like gazing at a star. A-Q says that is awe: thinking someone is amazing and looking up to them. She wonders if she herself was a Magical Girl others admired. A-Q is confident she was excellent, but they will never know unless she keeps gathering Memsparks.
  • Heartphials Unlock: A-Q tells her that she can fill the Heartphials with Heartsand to gain deeper insight into one of the girls whose Kioku she owns, however each Magical Girl has only one Heartphial. He tells her that understanding other Magical Girls will help her understand herself, and that to get Heartsand she'll have to go into a Labyrinth.
  • Darkness Witch: A-Q describes the Window: uncertain hope, girls pondering their wishes, balancing selfish and altruistic desires, shaped by those around them. Since Name is a Magical Girl, her own wish came true. She asks if she made a contract with him. A-Q says he is not Kyubey, so he doesn't know.
    • After finishing, Name feels something bubbling inside. A-Q says that is anxiety and unease from thinking about a wish. She finds it exhausting, but A-Q tells her worrying means she has a goal – and she needs one. She will feel this way because even while making a new self, she might still find her true self, forcing her to choose between old and new.
  • Dessert Witch: A-Q explains: a girl realizes her wish, resolve turns to joy, loneliness left behind. But life and death lie in wait; both life and resolve are swallowed whole. This is the beginning of an emotional twist, a glimpse into the world Magical Girls live in. Name asks if that is her world. A-Q says it is just a slice.
    • After the Window, Name is silent, then says she felt warm like floating on air, then everything crashed down, leaving something cold deep inside. A-Q calls that shock – surprise and confusion. Name asks if this is the cruel reality where every day could be their last. A-Q confirms.
  • Madoka Magica Pictura I Complete: Name sees two figures shining down on her, warm and comforting like being with A-Q. She wonders if they made their uncertainty go away. A-Q says she feels cheerful. The Pictura gave her strength because she is now a Guarding Light of Solace. He gives her a Kioku and promises three total if she keeps working. She thanks him.
  • Camera Unlock: Nighthawk is surprised by the arrival of Bebe and the two squabble over the camera Bebe's taken. After Bebe leaves, Nighthawk shows it to the Nameless Girl and A-Q. A-Q explains that the camera gets often stolen from Nighthawk's watch. A-Q praises photography and the use of cameras to preserve moments, but he tells her that the camera at the Lighthouse is special and can be used to experience a moment more than just visually. He tells her he'd never been able to use it due to his body, but when the Nameless Girl asks why a thing he couldn't use would be in the Lighthouse, he tells her that he believes it could have been used to supplement the many records of Magical Girls. A-Q then urges her to reach beyond the lens and stimulate her senses with the camera, thus the Nameless Girl borrows the camera with Nighthawk's permission.
  • Dollhouse Unlock: The Nameless Girl notices the Dollhouse, which A-Q realizes must've been pulled out from somewhere. He explains he'd made it previously with the Windows Into Memory, thinkig it would help with Window designs, however as it was useless without enough Kioku, A-Q put it away. He explains that the Dollhouse is similar to a Window and once inside, the Kioku will take form. As the Nameless Girl can enter Windows, she might be able to enter the Dollhouse and talk to Magical Girls.
  • Box Witch: A-Q says: after an admired Magical Girl dies, days don't feel real. Those left behind ponder living and dying as a Magical Girl. Screams echo through a hospital room, proving miracles exist. The unseen Puella Pictura likely depicts a girl at the mercy of her emotions.
    • After the Window, Name feels a big hole inside her, everything blurry. She asks if this is what it feels like when someone you respect dies. A-Q confirms: when what filled your heart goes away, you feel empty. She wants to stop collecting, but A-Q says stopping won't make the uncertainty go away. She realizes she must keep going, and A-Q tells her not to forget what uncertainty and emptiness feel like.
  • Graffiti Witch: A-Q describes: a girl who used her wish on another lives without regret. Disagreement leads to a violent clash of rigid hearts. A bold step forward reveals a Magical Girl's mechanism. Name says she will leave uncertainty and emptiness behind.
    • Name cries out in anger. A-Q calms her down. People get angry when their feelings are hurt. He reminds her that while she can take emotions from Memsparks, they are from others – she shouldn't let them influence her too much or she might lose sight of who she really is.
  • Player Match Unlock: He shows her a board game, which is a Puella versus Puella game, or PvP for short. Though she can't use it alone, he offers to bring in another version of the Nameless Girl as her own opponent. A-Q explains that the other her is a version of her born from a choice not taken. He also assures her that her Kioku will be fine even if she uses it.
  • Silver Witch: A-Q describes: a life-form with different values, one girl cautioning another, a future that cannot be changed but a way of thinking that can, a heart too earnest to reach, an apple offered but not taken. Name says she will be more careful – it's too early to make these emotions her own.
    • Name finds it hard to accept what she saw and heard. She asks if she is growing. A-Q says their doubts are affecting her, but that proves she has grown. Any Magical Girl could be her, so it makes sense she gets swept up.
  • Union Unlock: The telephone on the wall rings, which startles the Nameless Girl. It stops ringing and A-Q tells her that the phone connects to a Parallel World. He explains that whenever a choice is made, the world splits into on where the choice was made and one where it wasn't. He urges her to pick up the phone when it rings again and advises her to be nice with her alter egos from the other worlds.
  • Shadow Witch: A-Q describes: a boy miraculously healed, love grown in secret, doubts about confessing, a girl who swings her sword with abandon as only one value remains. Name says getting swept up was bound to happen, but A-Q warns her to control her emotions and observe from a distance.
    • Name feels something yucky growing inside her, grimy and painful, growing the more she tries to remove it. A-Q says that is disgust and self‑hate, but there is no reason to hate herself – she has been a big help and gets full points just for being there.
  • Tower Unlock: To see how strong her Kioku are and how good she is at using them, she can use the Window of the Mirror Witch. He tells her the further along she goes in there, the more difficult the foes will get, though she can quit and go back whenever she wants. A-Q also explains that she won't find Kikou in that Window, but she will get other useful items to make her Kioku stronger.
  • Dog Witch: A-Q describes: a girl clinging to her beliefs, others trying to bring her back, feelings clouding her conviction, a prayer destined to become a curse as she descends into despair. He warns it might be too much for her now, but Name insists she is the only one who can find what she lost.
    • Name nearly becomes lost, but she holds onto A-Q's words: observe from a distance, she is helpful. The griminess overflowed, sinking her into darkness. A-Q says that desperation makes you feel alive. He looks happy because she withstood those feelings. She says no to stopping – she likes being helpful and wants to do something for the Memsparks in return.
  • Mermaid Witch: A-Q reveals: the truth about Magical Girls and Witches, their connection to the universe. After learning their destiny, the girls make one final stand. A prayer echoes through music. Name repeats "the truth," and A-Q says not to worry – she has endured greater things. She should not shy away from what those Magical Girls feel.
    • Name feels something burning, warm, wrapping up all the griminess from before. A-Q says that is sympathy: putting yourself in someone else's shoes. It is beautiful. Name wonders if wanting to do something for the Memsparks is also sympathy.
  • Madoka Magica Pictura II Complete: Name sees the portrait. She feels a sharp pain in her chest but also something warm and gentle like a hug. A-Q says the portrait depicts an emotion she cannot comprehend yet, but her ability to feel it comes from the strength it lent her. She is now a Guarding Light of Devotion. He gives her another copy of the same Kioku , as more copies increase its power to protect her.
  • Artist Witch: A-Q describes: a girl who recovered from illness, evil encroaching from self‑doubt, admiration for her savior, a precious life lost trying to protect, a heart longing to protect a precious friend. The unseen Puella Pictura may depict the ideal form for her growth.
    • Name felt warm and happy, then suddenly cold and dark, her eyes overflowing. A-Q says she was overcome with sadness and crying – she felt what it is like to lose something precious. If the Memsparks disappeared, she would feel really sad. A-Q tells her to remember that clenching in her chest.
  • Chairperson Witch: A-Q describes: a Magical Girl who travels back in time, facing a shadow of herself. She speaks the truth but no one listens, forced to live the same moments again. A promise at the end of the world begins an endless loop. Name says the Window contains Memsparks from all her hard work.
    • Name feels focused on reaching a single point, something hard as a rock in her chest. A-Q says that is determination – a crystal that never breaks, growing in brilliance under pressure. If she keeps such a crystal in her heart, it will become her power. She asks if it will stay forever. A-Q says emotions change, but strong resolve sticks around.
  • Birdcage Witch: A-Q describes: an unshakable will, a solitary battle, a destroyed town and the worst of all Witches, a perpetual search for the way out of an endless loop. A-Q hopes she finds what she lost.
    • Name felt so many emotions – anger, sadness, confusion – all squeezed into one hot, hard mass. A-Q says that is conviction: the determination to make an unwavering decision, what keeps her looking for what she lost. He calls her entertaining, not just a helper.

  • Stage Witch: Name senses something different – a great calamity waits. This is a critical point. A-Q offers to explain, but she refuses, wanting to find out for herself.
    • After the Window, Name admits she did not find what she lost. But she will keep gathering Memsparks. The lost thing is still important, but not the only thing that matters now. She asks if Memsparks have ever gone dark. A-Q says yes – they are proof of Magical Girls' lives; if they disappeared, those memories would vanish. Name declares she will find all Memsparks and protect the Lighthouse with him. She felt warmth and a desire to protect everything, not from being affected but from within herself. A-Q calls that a compassionate heart – affection, sympathy, and the desire to protect, brimming with kindness. Because she is empty, everyone's memories are her memories. Finding and looking after all Memsparks is like looking after the self she lost. She chooses the new her over the old one.
  • Madoka Magica Pictura III Complete: Name sees five Magical Girls fighting together. She feels relieved and wants to wish them luck. A-Q says she is now a Guarding Light of Salvation. He gives her the last Kioku, adding that two more copies exist – she might already have them. He will always support her.
  • Nightmare Difficulty Unlock: A-Q tells Name that a new challenge has been opened up to her. He relays that it can help her self improvement, but the enemies in the Nightmare Difficulty Memory Windows will be more dangerous than before. She is initially reluctant to enter, but changes her mind after her tells her that she will be able to find a Memspark through it.
  • Crystalis Unlock: A-Q tells her that she can also create human connections between her Kioku. As Kioku can't be combined, she can gain "remnants of memory" to make them stronger instead. He describes them as akin to invisible particles that can't quite become Memsparks, they used to be a part of the lost Magical Girl memories. The Nameless Girl should just bring her Kioku along and they will come to them naturally. Remnants turn into crystals so finding them will be easy. He trusts that she'll get the hang of it soon enough.
  • Madoka Magica Battler Difficulty: As Name collects fragments, A-Q says the Memsparks portray an unyielding desire to press on, a virtue she needs. Later, they portray genuine hope beyond truth. Then belief in what one knows is right.
  • Madoka Magica Battler Difficulty Pictura Unlock: Name sees the full portrait. She asks if it really happened or was just a hoped‑for image – the warmth pains her chest. A-Q says images only appear from Memsparks, so it happened somewhere. She is now a Guarding Light of Karma.
  • Madoka Magica Nightmare Difficulty: Name gets distinct impressions from each Window:
    • Rose Garden Witch I – lost spinning, records, Kazamino.
    • Rose Garden Witch II – hectic chase, dog Kotaro.
    • Darkness Witch – glum, chess, tactics.
    • Dessert Witch – confused and excited, cake, a wish of her own.
    • Box Witch – remembering the past, album, front row seat.

    • Artist Witch – music, school festival, band.
    • Chairperson Witch – relaxed, eyeglasses, friends.
    • Birdcage Witch – unknown but familiar, something precious.
    • Stage Witch – searching, red ribbon, Amy.
  • Madoka Magica Nightmare Difficulty Pictura Unlock: Unlike the others where light was dulled by constant change, this one felt gentle, strange, guiding, familiar like the Lighthouse. A-Q says it depicts the place she should return to. She is now a Guarding Light of Brilliance in Flux.

Magia Record Part 1

  • Sandbox Witch: A-Q says the Memsparks concern someone forgotten but dear, a wish buried but made real, a timid girl braving her first steps into another town, where new encounters and bonds await. Name asks if there is a clue for her, since her own wish is forgotten. A-Q says maybe she will learn something by walking in that girl's shoes.
    • Name feels like something came to her clearly, but the realization left a hole in her heart – an emptiness that cannot be filled, leaving her restless. A-Q says she might be feeling what it is like to take notice of someone dear, and that someone is the answer to filling the emptiness. Name realizes loss and emptiness make her just like that girl. A-Q notes she might be making her own moves to settle those feelings. Name wonders what happened, and A-Q tells her to keep collecting Memsparks to find out.
  • Rumor of the Commoner's Horse: Rumors becoming truths, a battle against a being mistaken for a Witch, a heart that lies to itself, proof of existence only within oneself, a corrupted life crystal, and the unknown arising from despair. Name asks about an entity other than a Witch. A-Q confirms it depends on the space beyond.
    • Name felt a shining light not from herself, lots of little things shining differently – she wanted to squeeze them tight. A-Q says she might be feeling what it is like to encounter a treasure – when you make contact with it, emotions become heightened, and holding it can grant strength. Memories and emotions can be treasures too. Name wonders if she had a treasure of her own. A-Q says as a Magical Girl, she certainly did. Name becomes curious, and A-Q encourages a treasure hunt.
  • Rumor of the Anonymous AI: A mercenary who hates Witches, a fight against impending misfortune, Magical Girls who protect Rumors, the liberation of Magical Girls, the bond between an Uwasa and a girl, and a lonely girl finding a place she belongs. Name asks what a place she belongs means. A-Q says for her, that might be the Lighthouse. Belonging is a good thing; some people never find it.
    • At first, Name felt the hole in her heart would be filled – it was thrilling. But in the end, the emotion was different, with no shine. A-Q says she felt a betrayal of expectations. When treasure grants strength, it's good; when it strips it away, it stings. Name decides she doesn't need a treasure, but A-Q encourages her not to scoff at its power – it can be a driving force. He suggests putting the search on hold for now.
  • Rumor of the Chelation Land Ferris Wheel: The truth about Magical Girls, the fate of their wishes, a wish of death, a rumored theme park, the creator of the narrative, sacrifices and means of liberation. Name is disturbed by the idea of a wish of death, thinking wishes coming true should be good. A-Q says not all wishes are good – there might be no need for her to remember her own wish at all.
    • Name felt like something was about to vanish, but she stopped it, wrapping it in something bigger and making it feel warm and fuzzy. A-Q says she might have encountered a weaker life-form like a pet – small animals people keep, very precious to them. Name notes that A-Q is pretty small too, but he says he doesn't plan on becoming her pet.
  • Blessed Witch: Manipulated madness clashes with justice, hands grasping as the truth becomes known, each driven by their own willfulness. Is freedom a sin or salvation? Promised blossoms bloom before the Half-Witch. Name asks about willfulness. A-Q says it is a strong emotion – volition or purpose – crucial for protecting what we hold dear. It can also be stubborn, persistent, annoying. He is curious to see the shape of her willfulness.
    • Name was shaking from the cold and restless, then something wrapped around her, making her warm and sleepy – she didn't want to go anywhere. A-Q says she might be feeling what it is like to settle in somewhere she can be herself – a place she belongs. Name says that is the Lighthouse. A-Q says she and the Lighthouse need each other.
  • Witch of Good Fortune: Name senses something different. A-Q says this is where this Window Into Memory comes to an end. He offers to explain the events, but Name refuses, wanting to see the last one for herself. A-Q tells her to witness the miracle woven by these girls.
    • Name felt like she was falling and sinking into something messy, then a light appeared and the mess disappeared – or it helped her get out. A-Q says she might be feeling what it is like to have emotional support – someone pulled her out, possibly a friend. Name asks if she had a friend. A-Q says friends aren't strictly necessary, but there are benefits. Name could collect more Memsparks if she had friends.
    • Name says the sparkling treasure disappeared, but she felt a light like the time she escaped the mess. When it wrapped around the sparkling thing, she didn't want to let go. A-Q says she might be feeling what it is like to rebuild a friendship. Things like friends and a place to belong are all tied to treasure. Those precious things find us, and the more we nurture them, the bigger they grow. Name declares she wants a treasure too. A-Q is pleased – she is turning out as he expected.
    • Name feels her chest throbbing as emotions collide inside her – so strong, almost like they are protecting something. A-Q says she might be sensing them battling as one to protect their treasure. Name asks if she has to fight for her treasure. A-Q says no – nothing threatens what she treasures in the Lighthouse, so having something precious poses no threat. She says treasure can give great strength. A-Q notes she has already found her own treasure.
    • Name says it is so noisy she can't stand it – pitch black, can't move, restless, wanting to see the light again. A-Q says she might be sensing a moment where she must destroy what she holds dear, refusing to accept reality. Becoming overwhelmed by the real world while chasing an ideal is very human. Name blames the shiny treasure and says she doesn't want it anymore – she isn't willful enough to chase it. A-Q is disappointed, asking if she wants to stop exploring Windows, which would end their time together. Name refuses to give up – she doesn't want to face this without him.
    • Name says it was dark before, but now she sees light ahead. The restless feeling is gone. She doesn't know why everything changed. A-Q says it might be down to her willfulness – she had faith she was on the right path and fought to protect her treasure, creating a miracle. Name now understands: treasure sometimes saps strength, sometimes grants it. She wants the treasure – it will give her a warm feeling and help her grow. She declares that Memsparks are her treasure, along with *A-Q*. A-Q is shocked and delighted. Name says when he is around, she feels calm and ready to take on the world – he is her friend and treasure. A-Q laughs, calling her a gem. He wonders if what she last felt was the decision to value her treasure over all else. He admits that empty girl found her precious treasure, and the curiosity and excitement drive him wild.
  • Magia Record Part 1 Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. The two figures seem so broken and in pain, yet she feels calm – a deep sense of peace now that it is all over. A-Q says she is now a Guarding Light of Eudemonia.
  • Magia Record Part 1 Battler Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the people and scenery. A-Q says the Memsparks portray belief in what one knows is right in their heart – a virtue she needs, as her will is yet weak.
  • Magia Record Part 1 Nightmare Difficulty Pictura Complete: Name feels how incredibly cool the figures seem – confident and ready to face the world, though she senses they weren't always like that. She feels a strength within her. A-Q says she is now a Guarding Light of Ever-Afters.
  • Magia Record Part 1 Nightmare Difficulty: Name experiences the smaller Nightmare stories:
    • Sandbox Witch: Name felt something strange that made her go "huh?" – a sun shower, taking the long way.
    • Rumor of the Commoner's Horse (first): Name felt a grumpy aura, getting huffy seemed typical – ending friendships and mending them.

    • Blessed Witch (second): Name felt so many smiles, like she could let out a playful shriek – relaxation, and a "perfetto body".
    • Witch of Good Fortune: Name felt a swirl of effort and noise, all to see someone smile – a magical picnic.
  • Magia Record Part 1 Nightmare Difficulty Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. The light was so small, yet so brilliant – different from the others. She thinks she could cry. A-Q says the portrait depicted what she desired, a desire that kept her on her path no matter the hardship. She is now a Guarding Light of Fragile Brilliance.

Puella Magi Oriko Magica

  • Needle Witch Window Unlock: A-Q says the Memsparks concern a lonely girl seeking the meaning of her life, walking the path to salvation with the power of foresight. Also the love of a maddening Magical Girl killer, the transformation of a young decoy, a hidden page of betrayal, and hands drawn in to make a wish come true. Name asks if you need a reason to live. A-Q says yes, that is what many people believe.
    • Name feels like she was stabbed again and again in the chest, making her want to hide away. A-Q says she felt the rejection of everyone around her, but hiding won't lead anywhere. She is still looking for the meaning of her life. A-Q says that meaning changes how you express emotions and is directly connected to what you value. Just looking for it can make you really strong. Name asks if she will find it by gathering more Memsparks. A-Q says there is always a chance.
    • Name says something fuzzy is getting clearer. A-Q says the Memsparks show powerful figures arising to protect their world – a drive she shares.
    • Name felt something grimy lurking behind her, making it hard to breathe, yet instead of running away she kept wanting to go forward. A-Q says she might be feeling what it is like to fight with the weight of sin upon her shoulders – pushing forward with what she believes in even if it means hurting others. He wants her someday to know what that feels like because she is searching for the meaning and value of life.
    • Name feels light and fluffy, like she doesn't have to stand on her own two feet – nothing weighing her down, no need to think. A-Q says after learning the truth, she found somewhere she could rest, a pillar to lean on. Name wishes she had a place to feel this way. A-Q says there is something even greater than having that support – wanting more is wonderful and very human. Name says she wants Memsparks, but A-Q wants her to want more than that because it will shape who she is.
    • Name feels as light as before, but also like she doesn't need anything else – at least inside. Her pillar isn't inside her, so she doesn't know what this feeling is. A-Q says she may be empty, but if she looks back she will find the answer. He suggests she might be feeling what it is like to understand her own world. The meaning of her life determines the world she lives in and forms her values. Name thinks the meaning of her life is gathering Memsparks. A-Q says that is just her objective – the actual meaning is much bigger. The things you pursue even at the cost of sinning, and the things you protect even at the cost of your life, can only be gained by living a long time. Will finding Memsparks become her reason for living, or just the beginning of a greater purpose? Name decides to keep gathering. A-Q says the meaning she finds after her struggles will become her world and something to protect.
  • Needle Witch Battler Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the people and scenery. A-Q says the Memsparks portray genuine hope beyond truth – she would do well to learn how to move forward no matter what she faces.
  • Needle Witch Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents. A-Q says the Memsparks are sparkles of paradise spun from the ideals of these girls, like shadows cast by the light. Upon completing the Nightmare Difficulty stories:
    • First: Something felt too sweet to handle, like syrup and honey.
    • Second: Something felt so sweet and tasty, it made her want to grin – jam and a surprise visitor.
  • Oriko Magica Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. They were fighting together because those two are inseparable – she just knows from looking at the image, even though she has never met them. She feels like she is not alone either. A-Q says the Puella Pictura lent her strength for collecting its Memsparks. She is now a Guarding Light of Deliverance.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Scene 0

  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part I: A-Q says the Memsparks concern a Magical Girl with a forgotten contract – time stands still but fate begins to stir. Tragedy's witness, a recurring miracle, and faith earned through self-sacrifice. Replaying time for the sake of friendship, a girl working tirelessly behind the scenes. Name notes the Window feels familiar even though she expected it to be different. A-Q says its memories connect to a previous Window – like déjà vu. Name asks if doing your best for friends is a good thing. A-Q says she must discover that answer for herself.
    • Name says something fuzzy is getting clearer. A-Q says the Memsparks show a strong figure taking decisive action for a loved one – she would do well to learn the wisdom to choose hope.
    • Name doesn't like the hurt and stress, yet she still feels ready to endure it for someone else. A-Q says she may have been influenced by a Magical Girl's diligence. Name asks how they can be so steadfast when things are bitter and painful. A-Q says some people will do anything for their friends – it's not unusual. He personally values freedom over being bound, but maybe there is something more important to Name than friends, something that motivated her.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part I Battler Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the people and scenery. A-Q says the Memsparks show a figure grasping at hope for the future – she is in the same boat by choosing an uncertain future.

  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part I Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents. A-Q says the Memsparks are sparkles once glimpsed from behind the scenes – the mysteries may lead her in the right direction.
    • Name felt that people were concerned, but things got awkward – coffee beans and a penlight, errands and a lost kid.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part II: An irreversible truth – what can be lost should be cherished. Choices learned from repeated experience, persuasion distorting a prayer. A friendship that cannot be regained, a resolution to rewrite the world. Name says this Window feels different from the previous one. A-Q explains that even the same events can feel different from another perspective. Name asks what friendship is. A-Q says it is caring between friends, an important factor in relationships. He tells her not to worry about lost friendship – she has more important things to think about.
    • Name says A-Q told her friendship isn't worth worrying about, but now she thinks friends really are important. You grin with friends and feel warm and fuzzy; when friends are gone, it hurts deep inside. She wants to stop them from leaving, stop the uncertainty. A-Q says that is all the more reason to find something else important to her – because relying only on others could break her if she loses them.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part II Battler Difficulty: Name felt confused and let down, but wanted to smile through it anyway – a new Magical Girl, a bad kid, schemes and a celebration.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part II Nightmare Difficulty: Name felt something fluffy and sweet, with some pain but still happy – a rare CD and a phone, a commemorative photo and a fruit tart.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part III: Losses from constant repetition, modest victories and a truly evil Witch. Reasons to fight with all one's might, a fate beared and a cycle of despair. Loss linked to hope for the future, a tale of an unknown Magical Girl. Name notes that no one knows the tale of how hard she was trying. A-Q says making her tale known is why the Lighthouse exists – as long as they protect this place, the chance to learn her story remains.
    • Name feels strange, as if something is missing – but not a bad thing. A gaping hole has opened up, and she doesn't know its shape, but she knows it held something important. She feels kind of excited, as if things turned out how they were supposed to. A-Q says that might be the sense of fulfillment from helping those close to her. Name wonders if there was something important for her to work hard for too. A-Q believes the "present her" has something she can strive for – searching for her memories and collecting Memsparks. Name asks if friends should have been her answer. A-Q says the people she would do her best for can all be put in the "friend" category – willing to work hard for what is important is noble enough. Name says that means A-Q and Nighthawk are her friends too. A-Q asks if she is willing to lose something for their sake – doing your best sometimes means being prepared to lose something. Name admits she might not be able to do her best if it meant losing again – she doesn't want to lose what little she has now. A-Q says that is as far as she goes for those she calls friends. He tells her that if she collects more Memsparks, one day she might find what is truly important to her.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part III Battler Difficulty: Name felt like she was spinning between confusion and wonder – a movie and a senpai, a book and a weird dream.
  • Mabayu Aki's Memory Part III Nightmare Difficulty: Name was feeling down, then suddenly felt brighter – heroines and saving others, backstages and truths uncovered.
  • Scene 0 Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. She feels something strange – it feels sad to carry on by herself, yet warm inside at the same time. She has something very important to her, but she must get rid of it – it pains her, but she has to in order to protect those close to her. It is a strange feeling, like smiling on the outside but sad on the inside. A-Q says the Puella Pictura gave her strength. She is now a Guarding Light of the Forgotten.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Wraith Arc

  • Wraith: A-Q says the Memsparks concern a new, reformed world where a new threat feeds off one's emotions. A broken heart is frozen solid, and the truth is lost to fantasy. Evoked emotions turn into a fever – the only proof of what was lost. Name finds it tough, but A-Q says she will have to touch a Memspark to learn. She wonders what "fever" means.
    • Name says something fuzzy is getting clearer. A-Q says the Memsparks show various Magical Girls fighting in an altered world – maybe they will understand someday that while reason may change, the heart does not.
    • Name feels hot – something hot and gooey is overflowing inside. She didn't want to let go; she wanted to keep holding tight. A-Q says that fever is what many would call attachment. He gives a hypothetical: if the Lighthouse were gone, what would she do? Name says she doesn't like that, but she would find a way to reach it, to get the Lighthouse back. A-Q says that is attachment – the desire not to let go of something, and the urge to regain it even if lost forever. An incredibly strong emotion, the foundation of every individual. Name says she will remember how she feels right now. A-Q reflects that the narrower her viewpoint, the stronger her attachment.
  • Wraith Battler Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the people and scenery. A-Q says the Memsparks show the figure we seek in solitude – if she can gain the strength to overcome oblivion, she might also find good fortune.
  • Wraith Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents. A-Q says the light of possibility is a sparkle that dreams of a reunion – with faith and passion, miracles might happen again.
  • Wraith Arc Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. She feels a bit of sadness, but also a little warm inside, among many other things. Her heart is tingling – the more excited she gets, the more intense it becomes. A-Q says they head into the future with many memories, and her heart is a reflection of so many experiences. The Puella Pictura lent her strength. She is now a Guarding Light of Burning Passion.

Magia Record Crescent Memoria

  • Momoko Togame's Memory: A-Q says the Memsparks concern the struggles of a new Magical Girl and the correct form of wishes, Magical Girls lost to spiritlessness and wishes bound by magic, envy for what one lacks, and strength to lean on others. Name wonders if a wish can make you think in circles even after it is granted. A-Q explains that doubts really start to form because a granted wish does not make a conclusion.
    • Name says something fuzzy is getting clearer. A-Q says the Memsparks portray girls who have accepted their weaknesses – though the first step may be perilous, it is one she must inevitably take.
    • Name felt heavy things crashing down on her. She wanted to toss them away but couldn't. She thought if she tried a little harder everything would be okay, but without trying she ended up being able to carry them anyway. A-Q says that is acceptance – learning to carry something you cannot get rid of. Name asks if that is good. A-Q says it depends on what was accepted, so there is no easy answer. Only she knows how it feels.
  • Momoko Togame's Memory Battler Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the people and scenery. A-Q says the Memsparks portray someone struggling needlessly. He asks what she would do to obtain what she desires if simply wishing for it wasn't enough.
  • Momoko Togame's Memory Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents. A-Q says the light of possibility has a sparkle of new days taking shape – even if it fades, the bonds may remain unshaken.
    • Name felt so full from eating, then dizzy and feverish – a dog-eat-dog world, big sister.
  • Tsuruno Yui's Memory: The despair of girls chasing their dreams, a surging distress from a friend's disappearance, an anxious burden born from sentiments, a fear that fades once a heart is opened, regrets evoked by separation, and the warm feeling that remains. Name finds the words scary, asking if lots of bad things will happen. A-Q says maybe those things have already happened. Time moves forward, but memories are cumulative, so we can relive them.
    • Name felt something heavy and wobbly she couldn't get rid of. When she didn't know if she could carry it anymore, it suddenly got lighter – maybe the heaviness was taken away. A-Q suggests it wasn't taken away but shared – what they call mutual aid. Name realizes that is like her and A-Q: she cannot enter a Window alone, but she collects Memsparks because he is with her. Then she pauses, realizing the relationship feels one‑sided – she always gets help from him instead of them helping each other. A-Q says that might be true for now, but once she grows further she will be able to help him too. He is looking forward to it.
  • Tsuruno Yui's Memory Nightmare Difficulty: An exciting, bustling time tidying up – a wardrobe change and a click – a work visit, they look so cute.
  • Critic Witch: A conviction and rejection that divides a Magical Girl and Witch. Committed sins and a hidden resolve, a means of salvation wrought with error, a cycle of hope and despair, and a Magical Girl before the dawn. Name asks what "before the dawn" means. A-Q explains it means a period after night and before morning, or "before something begins." Name thinks she may have begun something because she has gotten stronger – she accepted her weakness and learned the strength of supporting each other. A-Q says only she can know if that is truly the answer.
    • So many different feelings flow through her – something tight and painful, but she has to keep going. She ran and ran until tired, tried her hardest, but it still feels not enough. She is worn out but has to run more. She knows she didn't make it here alone – someone helped her do her best. Yet she also feels she needs to run alone. Both feelings make her heart swell. A-Q says she seems to be struggling with herself. Name admits she thought she had gotten stronger, but that might not be true – she is still weak, which is why she is struggling. But she wants to become stronger. A-Q calls this a thirst for growth – acknowledging weaknesses and wanting to improve. He says saying she is weak is the same as saying she can get stronger. She has the potential to grow. She asks if she can get strong enough to gather Memsparks and protect the Lighthouse. A-Q says yes, so long as she keeps aiming higher – strong enough for him to leave the Lighthouse in her hands someday. He is surprised: a girl with no identity of her own not only understands her weakness but turns it into growth.
  • Critic Witch Nightmare Difficulty: The conversations and singing are so happy and fun – a dream, and a guitar.
  • Crescent Memoria Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. She feels something calm but also hot and intense – a feeling of wanting to reach out and grasp something. She can't see it yet, but there is a light in the distance. A-Q says reaching out with both hands towards hope is the path many Magical Girls have walked. Name wants to believe she will reach the light, maybe not now but someday. A-Q says the Puella Pictura lent her strength. She is now a Guarding Light of the Dawn.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica -Rebellion-

  • Nightmare: A-Q says the Memsparks concern a wonderfully peaceful norm – Magical Girls fighting nightmares. Uneasiness sprouts from an everyday routine, an unreachable destination, an impossible existence, an idealized world someone dreamed up. Name notes that peaceful means something good, so she asks why they are fighting. A-Q says she might figure it out as she gathers Memsparks.
    • Name wants to go back to the last place, feeling uncertain and scared to move on, afraid of being alone. A-Q tells her to go forward believing in what is real, not illusions, and reminds her that he is there with her.
    • Name hears a voice again – a grinning face she loves and holds dear seems far away and out of reach. A-Q says that smiling face is making her feel nostalgic. Name finds it odd: nostalgia should make her smile, so why does she feel a twinge in her chest? She concludes that the present is better than a nostalgic past, even though she has no past memories for comparison. A-Q warns her that the memory isn't hers – don't be fooled by emotions.
    • Name feels nice, warm, and fuzzy deep down, but also strange – she wants to stay but feels like she shouldn't. A-Q suggests strengthening her Kioku. When he tries to take a specific Kioku, Name shouts "No!" – she doesn't want to hand it over yet. A-Q says she is fixated and being heavily affected by the Memsparks. He advises her to rest and compose herself.
    • Name says something fuzzy is getting clearer. A-Q says the Memsparks portray a love that swallowed despair – a concept transcending both hope and despair might still be too hard for her to grasp.
  • Nutcracker Witch: A truth that urges to be pursued, a girl that doesn't exist in the past or future, glimmers of light and regret, desire and order, a long-awaited reunion, the pinnacle of all human emotion. A-Q warns her not to take these things to heart so deeply – it's dangerous.
    • Name is silent, then says she will bring the world inside the Window into the Lighthouse to make this place the same as that world. A-Q asks what she means. Name insists she has to do it. Nighthawk screeches, snapping her out of it. A-Q says she was consumed by a very large wave of emotion. Name says even so, she couldn't let it go – a big, hot, really heavy feeling was telling her to do it. A-Q realizes this is her first time feeling love – or attachment bordering on love, what they call obsession. Love can rob someone of their reasoning, come hand‑in‑hand with hate, turn into control. Name doesn't understand. A-Q asks what is important to her now. She says collecting Memsparks, the Lighthouse, A-Q, and Nighthawk. A-Q explains that if she brought that world into the Lighthouse, it would destroy everything – the Memsparks, the Lighthouse, all of them would be no more. Name realizes she would feel all the uncertainty again. But this time the feeling is different – being squeezed tightly but not heavy, warm and fluffy. A-Q says that is deep affection, a combination of love and familiarity towards someone. He notes that for the Lighthouse, deep affection is the closest term. Name says she just doesn't want to leave A-Q or Nighthawk behind. A-Q admits that while it's not obsession, it's becoming troublesome – perhaps in gaining emotions, you really can have too much of a good thing.
  • Rebellion Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents. A-Q says the light of possibility is a sparkle from an unborn Witch's dream – the peaceful everyday that someone once desired might have been found there.
    • Name felt a racing and fluttering heart, a bittersweet smile – a date and a bus.
    • Name says it's the same as always, but something feels off – baths, freeloading.
  • Rebellion Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. She is silent, then says this is the most excited she has ever felt looking at a portrait – a big emotion and power, like it might knock her over. The feeling is warm but also cold. A-Q says the existences presented through the portrait are rather large. The Puella Pictura lent her strength. She is now a Guarding Light of Rebellion.

Puella Magi Darc Magica: The Legend of "Jeanne d'Arc"

  • Corbeau: A-Q says the Memsparks concern an "angelic" voice heard from a young age, a peaceful village tragically attacked, the spread of darkness throughout the land, a light born from a girl's resolve, "La Pucelle" recognized by the Dauphin, and the liberation of a besieged fortress. Name asks about "liberation" – A-Q says it means gaining freedom, but a fortress wasn't the only thing they liberated.
    • Name says something fuzzy is getting clearer. A-Q says the Memsparks show various Magical Girls carving through a massive darkness – even small steps can eventually leave great footprints.
    • Name kept wondering what she should do, so she sat still hugging her knees. Suddenly everything felt brighter. A-Q says she felt the signal of a changing era – in a dark age of uncertainty, a guiding light to the future was born. Name says she would follow a guiding light. A-Q says on a larger scale, when many were lost, someone appeared and opened a path – so amazing that her name became legend. Name asks if that is good. A-Q says not necessarily – people don't only speak of things in a positive light.
  • Corbeau Battler Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the people and scenery. A-Q says the Memsparks show a path taken by those with the same conviction – if she learns to walk a difficult path, she might obtain a future from it.
  • Corbeau Nightmare Difficulty: Name says she can almost see the colors and breathe the scents. A-Q says the light of possibility is a sparkle of pure radiance – if she believes in her purpose and follows it, she might see the light at the very end.
    • Name sees everyone frantically searching and an exciting meal time – low rations, pasta drizzled with honey.
  • Crépuscule de la Reine: A ceremonial site recaptured and a rightful king crowned. A light overwhelmed by darkness parts ways with its steadfast shadow, only to shine again as a true hero breaches the twilight. Name notes many things are happening. A-Q says an age is defined by many things in a single span of time.
    • Many things are spinning around. The light she felt before hasn't faded, yet tears start to well up. Even so, she feels calm and relieved. A-Q says she felt the prayers for "La Pucelle" – not the wishes of Magical Girls, but the thoughts of others. Those thoughts made her a legend. She accomplished many feats, remaining in memories and records – becoming a part of history. Name thinks being remembered by everyone sounds nice, and wonders if she will become part of history if she does something great. A-Q notes that La Pucelle's final moments were not happy ones – she was crying when interacting with the Kioku. Still, she didn't do those amazing things alone; she had allies who selflessly supported her. Name realizes collecting Memsparks is her duty. A-Q tells her to keep doing her best.
  • Crépuscule de la Reine Nightmare Difficulty: A loud scream and a deafening silence – everyone playing instruments together. Being great at playing, and one's voice can be an instrument too.
  • Darc Magica Pictura Complete: Name sees the full portrait. She feels somehow really cool. She wants to run away, but she will bravely move forward. A-Q says that is what it means to face a great foe – holding your ground even though you want to run. Name wonders if she can win, but she gets the feeling she has to win. The Puella Pictura lent her strength. She is now a Guarding Light of Changing Times.

Name's Heartphial Story

  • Episode 1: Name asks A-Q if Kyubey grants wishes. She wishes to find her lost self. A-Q is offended she mistook him for a Kyubey, insisting he is custom-made with light green accents that exude intelligence. He says Kyubey would not grant that wish anyway because wishes are for becoming a Magical Girl, and she already is one. Relying on others for one's own hopes is lazy. A-Q jokes that squeezing his ears produces muscat grapes, then admits he was joking.
  • Episode 2: Name tries to transform into a Magical Girl. A-Q explains that inside a Labyrinth, she must borrow the appearance of a Magical Girl who bridges the link she lacks. She cannot transform at will outside Windows. Her current self has endless possibilities. Name wonders if she can turn into A-Q. It does not work.
  • Episode 3: Name asks where light comes from. A-Q explains the Big Bang theory. She suggests starting a fire in the Lighthouse to test if Memsparks are fire. A-Q is horrified. He uses an experiment with a glass container, thread, and saturated solution to explain: the solution is their space, the thread is the Labyrinth, and the crystals are Memsparks. Name misunderstands and thinks Memsparks are helpless souls. A-Q corrects her, but she insists on standing up to the challenge.
  • Episode 4: Name pretends to understand Nighthawk's squawks and has a conversation. A-Q complains about the noise. Name argues that lost light might be lonely, so liveliness helps gather them. A-Q prefers silence and solitude, but admits he was not always alone. Long ago there were three, then two, then a large group. The most memorable time was a trio. Now with Name and Nighthawk, he feels nostalgic. Name asks what nostalgic means. A-Q says a kid like her would not understand.
  • Episode 5: Name tries to look at Nighthawk's treasured notebook, causing a squabble. A-Q explains the notebook belonged to someone else and contains recipes. Name asks about cooking and food. A-Q explains consuming food is for energy and enjoyment. Name wants to try "toe food hamburk steak." A-Q says there are no ingredients. He admits he sometimes gets a hankering for strawberry milk. Name notices A-Q grins whenever he says "nostalgic."
  • Episode 6: Nighthawk wants Name to read a book. Name cannot read. A-Q reveals there is a massive collection of books in the Lighthouse, likely built before the previous keeper. He warns Name not to go exploring there. The book's title is *Puella Magi Diarium*.
  • Episode 7: A-Q catches Name running away from studying. Teaching her to read and write is difficult. Name says it is too hard. A-Q calls himself a genius. He decides to abandon studying, but then remembers that being able to read might have been a requirement to become lighthouse keeper. Name promises not to run away and wants to protect Memsparks. A-Q agrees to teach her again. Name suggests he drink strawberry milk to feel refreshed. A-Q is too tired to argue.
  • Episode 8: Name finds a fuzzy drawing of four girls. A-Q identifies them as the "Original Four," who existed before him. The background shows a cherry blossom tree, symbolizing meeting and parting. Name wants to find more traces of them. A-Q says she can search the Lighthouse during downtime. Name turns it into a race. A-Q sighs.
  • Episode 9: Name plays a game of Ohajiki with shiny marbles. A-Q explains the shiny things outside the Lighthouse are stars, but since the universe does not exist here, each twinkle might be its own universe. Name connects stars to make a shape that looks like A-Q, then Nighthawk. A-Q realizes he is witnessing a constellation being discovered. He finds her cluelessness fascinating.
  • Episode 10: Name and Nighthawk stack magnets to build a tower that looks like a Lighthouse. A-Q explains how the Lighthouse moved from inside a universe to an outside observation point using a magnet analogy. Too much data caused it to leave its original space. Name does not understand and keeps playing with magnets.
  • Episode 11: Name asks why she is herself. A-Q panics, thinking she is finally philosophizing about existence, which could upset the balance that lets her explore Windows. But Name explains she saw her reflection in Nighthawk's eyes during a staring contest and thought, "That's me!" A-Q realizes he worried over nothing. He compares her to a baby discovering its hands. Name tries to catch him. A-Q runs away, yelling not to pet him.
  • Episode 12: Name lost her marbles. Nighthawk gives her a new marble and a new bag. A-Q theorizes Nighthawk felt vexed after being blamed. Name drops the marble immediately. She finds it again. A-Q wonders if he is overthinking.
  • Episode 13: Name is cheery after a Window. A-Q warns that too many memories would make a normal person's head pop. He then says he is joking. He explains that Kioku memories are linked to Windows, so memories do not flood in all at once. Name asks about "what-if" stories. A-Q says Magical Girls feel no relation to them, like reading a book. He teases that if her own memories return, they might clash with new ones and cause an explosion. Name panics. A-Q laughs. Then he mutters that for her to explode, she would have to get her memories back first, which is unlikely.
  • Episode 14: Name tries to memorize A-Q's explanation about Kioku memories linked to Windows. She worries that if happy and sad versions of herself were in the same place, her feelings would get mixed up. A-Q explains that Kioku observe their past selves objectively, feeling no relation to parallel selves. They see themselves as Kioku in the Lighthouse, not as Magical Girls. Name connects this to how she smiles when A-Q looks happy and feels down when Nighthawk is gloomy. A-Q says that is similar but not the same, because they are separate entities. He tries to explain self-actualization by having her imagine a stronger future self. Name notices A-Q is not smiling. She copies his mad expression. A-Q sighs and says he is really in the mood for strawberry milk.

Exedra Story

  • Sensing Myself: Name notices something different. A crack has appeared, not in the Lighthouse but in the space they inhabit. Name senses something bad on the other side. A-Q asks if she could handle a Witch if one is behind it. She is nervous about going alone, but A-Q reminds her she has Kioku and will not be alone. If the crack grows, the space might break, and she would lose all the Memsparks she gathered. A-Q urges her to fight—to counter death, despair, emptiness, and resignation with life, hope, existence, and conviction. Name agrees to try.
    • Name approaches the fissure with Nighthawk. Nighthawk seems to be telling her to fight the Witch. A-Q catches them and is frustrated that they ruined his painting, which used pigments from an irregular Witch. He claims irregular Witches are far more powerful than those in the Windows, too strong to defeat even with parallel world selves. Name defiantly challenges that.
    • A-Q then talks to himself, revealing a "little white lie never hurt anyone," hinting he may have manipulated the situation.
    • Later, Name sees a dark Memspark being eaten away. Something is wrong outside the Lighthouse. A-Q proposes combining their power to create a gate. Name declares she will save and protect the Memspark and the Lighthouse.
    • The gate is prepared. Name enters. She senses herself. The Memspark inside feels different, like looking back on something from before. She experiences self-hatred and recognizes it. She also feels awe—wanting to be strong, cool, and sparkling like the figures in a bright world. She wishes she never had to leave there.

  • Name has been theorized to have been the original identity of 10-43 the Symbol Witch, as it was once responsible for allowing Iroha, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey to leave the Magia Record the first time. Another possibility is that she is the previous keeper of the Lighthouse, now having lost her identity.
