Doppel Description

The Doppel of demolition.
Its form is a hearth lion.
The master of this emotion is coolheaded, but her Doppel is burning with endless rage. Its form is a rampaging lion that rends all around it to pieces with its gnashing teeth. It refuses to forgive the smallest of injustices and demolishes anything it deems irrational. Strictness incarnate, it may target others simply for living in Kamihama, so its master must take care when summoning it, lest it hurt her allies. If she continues to use this Doppel, she may become similarly unforgiving. It may be uncontrollable, but its master half agrees with its judgement.

(NA: An Onerous Uniform) |
**Unique to Kanagi Izumi** The hems are frayed, there are visible stains, the fabric is worn. It’s clear this has been passed down through the hands of many girls. Put your arms through its sleeves and you can easily sense your town and status with your whole body. It’s natural for the wearer of such a significant item to contemplate her own future. | 少し解れた裾も、目に入る小さな汚れも、少しだけ薄くなった布も

Kanagi destroys a witch. She notices that witches have become more numerous and powerful than before, and decides to let every magical girl know about this. She first meets Tsukasa Amane, and says she wants to introduce her to someone. Kanagi takes Tsukasa to Mitama Yakumo. Mitama says Tsukasa looks just like her sister Tsukuyo Amane. Kanagi reveals Tsukuyo and Mitama used to be classmates. Mitama then uses her power on Tsukasa. Kanagi then asks Mitama if she's noticed any changes. Mitama says she's been having more customers from all over Kamihama. Kanagi then explains the increased presence and power of witches, which is something that Mitama has already noticed Tsukasa then received a call from Tsukuyo, and says she has to head to Mizuna Ward. Tsukasa thanks Kanagi and Mitama and departs. Mitama says she'll close her shop for today, and asks if she can go home with Kanagi. As they walk home, some passerby are surprised to see that Mitama and Kanagi are wearing Daitou uniforms. The next day, Kanagi is working at a maid cafe when Tsukasa arrives. Tsukasa says something happened yesterday. However, Tsukasa runs off before she can explain. Kanagi texts Tsukasa, but Tsukasa tells her not to worry. Kanagi returns home and is welcomed by her parents. Her mother says she's making dinner. Kanagi points out that her mother forgot to start the rice cooker. Kanagi's brother arrives. Kanagi asks him to set the table. Kanagi's brother asks his father about his leg. Kanagi's father says it still hurts, and says if he wasn't injured things would be easier. Kanagi tells him not to worry. Kanagi's father then notices his son has a bruise on his hand. The boy says some people from the west part of Kamihama City tried to pick a fight. Kanagi's brother claims to have ignored them, but he was so angry he punched a wall. Kanagi thinks about the events of the past few days, and decides she needs to meet the other magical girls. Later Kanagi meets Himika Mao, and explains what she found about witches. Kanagi says Mao hasn't been a magical girl for that long and she should be careful. Kanagi says she's always available to help and goes off to warn more magical girls. Before she leaves, Himika gives Kanagi her family's special energy drink. Kanagi find she doesn't like it at all. Kanagi then meets with Seika Kumi and Leila Ibuki. Kanagi tells them about the changes in witches. The girls say they thought it was something like that, and their friend Mito Aino also noticed this issue where she lived. Kanagi says they should hunt witches in groups of two from now on. The girls thank Kanagi, who says it's no trouble. Kanagi leaves, and Leila and Seika call her cool. Kanagi goes to Mitama's place and finds the Amanes leaving. Upon seeing Kanagi the two girls run off. Meeting with Mitama, Kanagi tells her to be careful. Mitama says she's been finding familiars around her place, and she was having Momoko Togame help her clear them out. Kanagi muses that the conflict between east and west has calmed down, since Momoko was part of a team from the west. Kanagi says she's there to help Mitama if she needs it. Kanagi says Mitama must be making good business, but Mitama says most of her customers are first-timers. Kanagi then asks about the Amane sisters. Mitama says they came to be adjusted. Kanagi says she thinks Tsukasa is avoiding her. Mitama says Kanagi should try to talk to Tsukasa. Kanagi agrees and heads to Tsukasa's house in the Artisan Ward. When she returns home and sees Kanagi, Tsukasa tries to run off. However, Kanagi chases her. Eventually she catches up to Tsukasa and demands to know what's going on. Tsukasa's asks if Kanagi is interested in releasing magical girls from the fate of becoming witches. Kanagi is surprised Tsukasa learned about that. Tsukasa says she can't accept becoming a witch. Kanagi says that Tsukasa chose to become a magical girl, and she is responsible for her choices. Kanagi says Tsukasa can't renounce her fate, but Tsukasa says there is a way. Tsukasa says there's a group called the Wings of Magius which can save magical girls. She invites Kanagi to join. Kanagi asks if Tsukasa has considered if this group isn't just trying to use her by making false promises. Tsukasa says she trusts, saying she was invited by Tsukuyo, who was invited by Mifuyu Azusa. Kanagi asks if the west is up to something. Tsukasa says it's not about east versus west, it's about saving magical girls. Kanagi says Tsukasa was taken by a pipe dream and calls her pathetic. Tsukasa says that Kanagi won't change her feelings. Tsukasa says that she and Tsukuyo planned to leave their homes once they graduate high school so they can live together happily. Tsukasa points out that the fate of becoming a witch makes this dream impossible, which is why the sisters went to Magius. Kanagi admits Tsukasa can make her own choices, but asks if she'll be satisfied once she gets what she wants from Magius. Kanagi thinks Magius preys upon magical girls by their weaknesses and can't approve or join. Kanagi says she will protect the magical girls of Kamihama, which includes Tsukasa. However, she says she can't overlook Tsukasa straying from the right path. Tsukasa says she's probably not the only one, and says all the magical girls of the east want to be freed from becoming a witch. Kanagi says she can't stop that, but she can bring peace to Kamihama. She asks Tsukasa to lend her strength, but Tsukasa says she's too weak. She thanks Kanagi and leaves. Kanagi thinks that people of the east live in a world where they're feared and avoided. Those who become magical girls have it even worse. Kanagi muses that when she became a magical girl she didn't know about becoming a witch. However, she accepts that fate because it was still the result of her choice. However, Kanagi still can't accept the discrimination she gets in Kamihama. It's shown that the people in west Kamihama have a poor impression of those of the east. In the past, Kanagi wondered how the people of the east could improve that impression. One day Kyubey appeared before her and offered her a contract. Kanagi told him she wanted to change everyone's opinions of Daitou Ward, and that she believes the cause is Kamihama's history. She asked Kyubey to erase the history of Kamihama. Kyubey asked if she's sure about that, saying the change Kanagi could wish for could occur tomorrow, or hundreds of years in the future. Thinking about it, Kanagi agreed that even changing Kamihama's history won't actually change people's opinions of Daitou. Kanagi decided that if there's something she can improve herself, she wants to know about it. She then made her wish to Kyubey: "I wish to know the reason why everyone hates Daitou". From that wish, she obtained the power to read minds...and also learned there was no reason why people hated Daitou. Kamihama's history and the poor safety of Daitou caused people to hate it without knowing why. Kanagi realized that Kamihama doesn't see individuals, they just see the circumstances around them. This causes a cycle of people getting hurt. In the present, Kanagi recieves an adjustment from Mitama. Kanagi narrates that the magical girls of the east are all joining the Wings of Magius. She talks with Mitama about it, and Mitama points out the girls from the east are the one who most desire to be saved from their circumstances. Kanagi says she loves Daitou, and wants Kamihama to live in peace and harmony. Kanagi thinks there is only one way to accomplish this: By destroying Kamihama. Kanagi says that when everyone has lost everything, people will be forced to work together and the old differences will vanish. Kanagi then muses that she doesn't have the power to destroy Kamihama, so all she can do is destroy witches and protect magical girls. Kanagi decides that that she'll do what she can, and if the time comes she'll destroy Kamihama to save Daitou. |

(This takes place shortly after *Newbie Maid Carefree Kanagi.) Noticing how the Maid Iroha ends her sentences with "desushii", Kanagi mentions how weird the kouhai acts and speaks. Karin gets a little upset and defensively tells her adding verbal tics is how you make characters interesting and standout. If you mix in a cute catchphrase now and again that really rounds them out and makes them more charming. Kanagi is impressed by how much thought Karin has put into the manga and compliments Karin on her hard work. Karin says it's thanks to being able to take notes from a real life example. Karin flips through the pages as Maids Nagitan and Iroha search for and eventually confront the big bad. The bad guy cackles menacingly as Maid Nagitan stands crying over a badly injured Maid Iroha, who cries out in a mix of almost unintelligible catchphrases and verbal tics. Karin points out how the extra strong monsters can speak in this story and then tells Kanagi the climax is coming up. Kanagi reads the next part, which has the maids cry out for their Madam. The Madam appears and knocks out all the monsters with his Deadly Technique Maid-san Beam, the Madam being an exact copy of the manager from the café. Maid Nagitan decides she has no choice but to use that and unleashes her Leave It To Nagitan Beam on the monster as well. The monster cries out and then dies as the two maids cheer; the comic page is covered in big explosive sound effects. THE END. Nervously, Karin asks Kanagi what she thinks of it. Kanagi replies that she's not very sure about all that complicated stuff, but she could definitely get a certain feeling from the manga. Karin begs her to tell her what that feeling was. Karin says the feeling was love.
Kanagi is hanging out at with Mitama at her Coordinator shop, but Mitama won’t stop staring at her. When Kanagi asks her what the problem is, Mitama narrows her eyes and tells her that she’s always wearing the same old thing, i.e. her school uniform. Kanagi points out she does wear a maid uniform while at work but Mitama tells her that’s not what she meant. Doesn’t Kanagi have any sense of fashion? Kanagi for her part is fine so long as what she’s wearing matches the situation. Since her uniform is meant to be worn for long periods of time, it keeps her warm enough and is appropriate for formal or casual wear. Mitama sighs and tells her she’s technically right and this time asks her if she wouldn’t like to wear different clothes now and again just for the excitement. Kanagi shrugs and doesn’t really see a point so long as what she’s wearing is comfortable. Mitama just doesn’t get it. She believes that high school girls should look lovely and asks Kanagi if she doesn’t ever year for the thrill of being in a crowd during a sale or opening a grab bag from a shop and seeing what nice things are inside. When Kanagi tells her she’s never even bought a grab bag in her life, Mitama looks surprised and tells her that they’re cheap and often have good things in them. Those grab bags are the secret to fashion. Mitama gets a sudden idea and digs something up before giving it to Kanagi to try on. Kanagi is hesitant at first but she puts on the clothes that Mitama got for her. Mitama is pleased at how good Kanagi looks in them and tells Kanagi to look in the mirror. Even Kanagi has to admit that the clothes suit her. Mitama smiles and tells Kanagi to give fashion a try more often. Kanagi looks at the clothes and notes that they’re all still brand new. It turns out that Mitama had bought a grab bag and received those clothing items, but they weren’t quite her style so she didn’t know what to do with them. That’s why she was glad to give them away to Kanagi. Kanagi tries to decline but Mitama insists on her keeping them. Since she’ll never wear them it makes sense to give them to Kanagi instead so she can use it to start her fashion wardrobe. Since Mitama paid for the clothes, she tells Kanagi that she can take her out to lunch in exchange although of course Kanagi will have to wear the clothes to their lunch date. Kanagi accepts and thanks Mitama for her generosity. A few days later the two friends go out to eat while looking fashionable.
Showing her perspective during the event Summer Treasure, Kanagi alongside Ui and Kyoko are preparing to cook the fish they have caught while trapped on the desert island. Ui is in charge of taking care of the fish at the bonfire while Kanagi and Kyoko are in charge of opening the raw fish so they can cook them better. Kyoko admits that she likes Kanagi, because it is clear that she is an expert at cooking fish and she doesn't waste food. Kanagi tells Kyoko about her family situation, and how the day before she had caught fish wearing the same suit, and had it cooked in the same way for her family. Kanagi says that Kyoko's words are similar to her father's, saying that she is glad that she learned to catch fish and cook them because it benefited her family. Kyoko is surprised by everything Kanagi does, and she reveals that despite her young age, she has already learned to cook, wash clothes, and do other household chores so as not to burden her parents with such a workload. Kyoko gets a little sad and Kanagi asks her if she said something that will upset her, admitting that sometimes that happens to her because she is not in sync with other people, but Kyoko tells her that she didn't do anything wrong and that Kanagi is right in her way of thinking, saying that she really can't make mistakes with issues that important. Before the two can talk more, Ui interrupts them saying that the fish is ready. Kanagi thinks about the words "don't make mistakes" and feels that Kyoko must have suffered something very strong to say something like that, so she says that she will take her words as a warning, thinking that it won't matter "what choice she makes in the future."
Kanagi is just finishing the laundry when Sogetsu walks in, asking if he could open a new milk carton, before seeing his old loungewear. Taken aback, he asks why she is washing it when he had plans of throwing it out, as it no longer fit him. Kanagi says that she has decided to wear it, shocking and embarrassing her brother. She tries to reassure him that one’s growth is going smoothly if their clothes get too small. When that doesn’t get through, Kanagi tells him that their family especially needs to be resourceful, and as the eldest child, it is getting harder and harder for her to just discard things, essential or not. Sogetsu acknowledges that his sister’s words are a harsh but undeniable truth, and abruptly rushes out. Kanagi frowns, thinking that his puberty is acting up again. That evening, Sogetsu returns home with a bag. He bluntly gives it to his sister, and upon looking inside, realizes that her brother had gone out and bought her new pajamas, spending all of his month’s budget in the process. Pleasantly surprised, she thanks him, and is quick to put on the new outfit. She turns out to really like it, despite the unfamiliarity of wearing something brand new. Kanagi finally agrees to give her brother’s old pajamas a proper farewell, before Sogetsu then makes a comment that if he ever got a girlfriend, he would be too embarrassed to bring her over, but quickly retracts the statement when his sister asks him about it. Kanagi smiles, and decides to appreciate this change as a sign of growth. |
