Cleopatra also makes a cameo in Episode 12 of the Madoka Magica anime, and in Magia Record Episode 24. Both episodes imply her to be a Magical Girl, without outright stating it. However, in Mirage of Alexandria, she's not a Magical Girl.

Cleopatra is a Greek name meaning "glory of the father".

The kanji in his name mean "mysterious" () and "cloud" ().

Harald Sigurdsson

Harald Sigurdsson III, also known by his epithet Hardrada or "hard ruler", was the king of Norway from 1046 to 1066. He died in the Battle of Stamford Bridge on September 25, 1066, bringing an end to the Viking Age. During the battle, Gunhild ends up revealing her magic, causing Harald to accuse her of cursing his army and ordering his men to kill her and Olga, enraging Gunhild into killing him.

Harald is a Scandinavian name meaning "army ruler". Sigurdsson just means "son of Sigurd".

Himiko

Main article: Himiko (Character)

Himiko (ヒミコ Himiko) was the queen of Yamataikoku who was succeeded by Toyo. Her face is hidden during her event. Someone theorized to have been Himiko also appeared in Episode 12 of the Madoka Magica anime, where she is (implied to be) saved by Ultimate Madoka.

Her name in-game is spelled in katakana. In real life it was spelled with kanji as 卑弥呼, but these characters were chosen by the Chinese for their phonetic values, so their meaning is irrelevant.

Junia

Junia, or Iunia, is a young Roman woman appearing in Lovers in the Pax Romana. She is a daughter of a wealthy family in Pompeii, Ancient Rome, and twin sister of Cornelia. The name Junia is most likely derived from Juno, the Roman equivalent to the Greek goddess Hera who presided over marriage & childbirth (a fitting name for someone who plays matchmaker for Cornelia and Marius.)

Latin at the time of Pompeii did not have the letters J or U, so the original Roman spelling of the name would have been IVNIA. Modern rendering of Latin universally uses U where appropriate, but is divided on whether or not to use J, so the spelling Iunia is also correct and valid.

When Junia met Kyubey and made a contract, she gained the ability to transform into other people and was set back into the past. Because of this, she assumed the identity of Amaryllis.

Junia is the name of a major Roman patrician family (essentially, Roman nobility). The meaning is uncertain, but is most likely derived from the goddess Juno, who also gave her name to the month of June. Some proposed meanings include "youth" or "love", but the true origin is unknown.

Marius

Marius is Cornelia's fiance in Lovers in the Pax Romana.

Marius is a Roman family name of uncertain origin. Most likely it is either derived from Mars or from a Latin root "maris", meaning "male". The Maria family was a plebeian family in ancient Rome (essentially, commoners).

Masatsuna Mizuna

Masatsuna Mizuna (水名 正綱 Mizuna Masatsuna) is Tsuyu Mizuna's father. Feuded with the East (particularly, the Tai Party clan) and even though Tsuyu persuaded him to make peace, he was murdered by San'emon Banshu when he betrayed and ambushed him during a peace talk.

The kanji of his last name mean "water" () and "name" () respectively. It is the same spelling as used by the Mizuna Ward. The kanji in his first name mean "correct" () and "guiding principle" ().

Gaius Plinius Secundus

Gaius Plinius Secundus, more commonly known as Pliny the Elder, is a man who attempted to ferry survivors of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples, perishing in the process. He appears in Lovers in the Pax Romana.

Gaius is a Roman given name of uncertain meaning, possibly "to rejoice" from "gaudere". The meaning of his family name, Plinius, is unknown. Secundus is a Latin name meaning "second", usually given to the second son of a family.

San'emon Banshu

San'emon Banshu (ばんしゅさん右衛門えもん Banshu San'emon) is Chizuru's former father and leader of the bandit clan, Tai Party. Feuded with the West (particularly, the Mizuna) and when Chizuru and Tsuyu attempted to have their families make peace by having their fathers discuss a peace treaty, San'emon instead allied with another country and led a massive ambush at the treaty, resulting in Chizuru disowning him.

The kanji in his surname mean "Ten thousand" () and "protect" (). The first kanji in his given name means "mountain" (), while the remaining three put together are (based on the reading) a clipping of 右衛門府, meaning "junior gate guard".

Titus Caesar Vespasianus

The Emperor of Rome from 79 to 81 AD; appears in Lovers in the Pax Romana.

Titus is a name with uncertain meaning. Caesar is a name that may have originally meant "hairy", but by Titus's time was seen as synonymous with the title of Emperor. Vespasianus could mean "west", "evening", or "wasp". All are Roman.
