Part 1
July of 31 BCE: The Tokime Tribe arrive in Ancient Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra VII. Nemu explains that their mission involves investigating Cleopatra, who might be a magical girl herself. Just as they arrive in Alexandria, they witness Cleopatra passing through the streets and sense a mysterious aura around her. Shizuka senses lingering traces of magic throughout the city, and they decide to infiltrate Cleopatra's palace. During their infiltration, they are caught by Ebony, who they find out is a magical girl, but due to Shizuka's immunity to Ebony's power, she manages to convince her of a truce and the girls retreat. The team splits up, with Chika using her magic to collect information from birds frequenting the palace, while Ryoko and Chiharu assist Shizuka in tracking down members of the mysterious Met Clan. They locate someone knowledgeable about the Met Clan, so they arrange a meeting to learn more. However, the encounter turns out to be a trap set by Cleopatra’s forces, but they manage to turn the situation to their advantage and capture one of the soldiers for interrogation. The captured soldier confirms that Ebony belongs to the Met Clan and that the clan operates under strict orders to eliminate any threats to Cleopatra. As they're about to ask more, the soldier laughs maniacally and reveals the soldiers have used a "Dreaming Drug" on themselves, rendering them unstable and unpredictable. The drug is part of the Met Clan's secrets and cannot be easily reversed without an "Awakening Drug." The group decides to retreat temporarily, while at the palace, Ebony tightens security after learning of the failed attempt to capture the intruders. As tensions rise between Rome and Egypt, the group continues gathering information outside Alexandria while avoiding direct confrontation with the Met Clan. Meanwhile, preparations for war intensify in Alexandria, with Cleopatra ordering her fleet to prepare for battle.
September 2nd of 31 BCE: The Battle of Actium begins, an important point in the conflict between Cleopatra and Octavius. Initially, Cleopatra’s forces appear strong, but the tide quickly turns against them. As the situation grows dire, Cleopatra orders a retreat and Ebony witnesses the collapse of their military. Back in Alexandria, Cleopatra sends her son Caesarion away to safety while attempting to negotiate terms with Octavius. However, these negotiations prove unsuccessful, so, aware of Antonius’ anger over her perceived betrayal, Cleopatra prepares for his arrival.
August 1st of 30 BCE: Antonius attempts suicide upon hearing false news of Cleopatra's death, delivered by Ebony under Cleopatra’s orders. Days after Antonius' death, the Tokime girls exploit a weakened security around Cleopatra's palace, and they witness Cleopatra acting erratically. Nemu confirms that the Soul Vessel reacts only to Ebony, indicating she is their target magical girl. When attempting to approach Ebony for answers, she uses her powers to immobilize them while Shizuka tries to negotiate with her.
Part 2
They manage to neutralize her powers with the help of Asahi and her rifle, who had been waiting in reserve as part of their plan. The group explains that they had gathered information about the Met Clan's through an elderly man who had once been part of the clan. According to the elder, the Met Clan forces young girls to contract with Kyubey to gain power, which is then used to ensure the prosperity of Egypt’s ruling dynasty. These girls are sent to serve the pharaohs, often sacrificing their lives for the dynasty’s benefit. Ebony acknowledges that Cleopatra’s supposed beauty and intelligence were not natural but granted by these sacrificed girls. Shizuka shares her own experiences as a magical girl and explains that they aim to recover Iroha's concept. While Nemu warns against interfering with history, Shizuka argues that saving Ebony might align with their mission and Nemu reluctantly concedes. Shizuka then offers Ebony a chance to break free from her predetermined path and create a new life for herself. Ebony agrees, though she must first settle matters with Cleopatra. She prepares to confront Cleopatra one last time, asking the group to hide while she speaks with the queen. Cleopatra awakens, expecting Ebony to bring her another wish for Octavius's demise. Instead, Ebony announces her intention to leave. Surprisingly, Cleopatra dismisses her, believing Ebony is fetching a new tribute. While the Met Clan's sanctuary is difficult to locate, upon arrival, Ebony introduces the group to the elder who governs the clan. He accuses Ebony of failing Cleopatra, but after deliberation, the elder grants Ebony freedom but requests she deliver a final message to Cleopatra on behalf of the clan.
August 29th of 30 BCE: As Cleopatra's been imprisoned, the group infiltrates the heavily guarded facility where Cleopatra is kept. Inside, they find her in a deteriorated state due to the fading effects of magic bestowed by previous candidates. As the magic needed to be reapplied, Cleopatra's face has started to deform. Cleopatra demands more sacrifices and wishes, including eternal beauty and power for Caesarion. She is attacked by an unknown assassin disguised as a soldier, and as Cleopatra dies, Ebony starts accumulating impurities and almost transforms into a witch. After the other girls successfully save her, Nemu confirms that while Cleopatra was recorded to have died from a snakebite, her wound from the soldier should suffice in keeping history the same. They confront the Elder of the Met Clan about his involvement in Cleopatra's death and he reveals that he intended for Ebony to become a witch during Cleopatra’s demise to strike against Rome and also to dispose of Cleopatra, who had outlived her usefulness. He insists on continuing the Met Clan's tradition by sending new sacrifices to whichever power rises, which is when they notice a witch's presence emanating from the elder. After the witch makes the elder commit suicide, the group faces the witch, a 10-1, and defeat it together. With the Soul Dome now filled, Nemu confirms that the group's journey through this era has reached its end. Each member bids farewell to Ebony and encourage her to embrace her newfound freedom. As they return to their own time, Ebony remains behind and commits to moving forward.
