Selema's design was originally based on "Bear Girl" from Episode 12 of the original television broadcast, although Ume Aoki cannot remember why she did so. Her witch form was originally described in Inu Curry's Note as "Bear Girl (Needle Witch)" (「クマ子 (針の魔女)」, "Kuma-ko (Hari no Majo)").

• Selema and Zi Ding Xiang make a cameo appearance in the Magia Exedra event quest Magia Et Cetera Lighthouse Stamp Rally.

Speculation

• It's possible that she and Zi Ding Xiang are both girls that were taken in by the Law of Cycles, but because of Homura's actions in Rebellion have been brought back into living, as this is seen with both Sayaka Miki and Nagisa Momoe.
• It is speculated that she is the identity of Quitterie due to being often seen with Kyubey, as well as her costume containing several needles. She also resembles the Witch of Sewing from Puella Magi Madoka Magica Mobage
