Eng Name
We have confirmation on the English spelling of her name? Margaret/Marguarite/Marguaritte? Also sorry for beiing uneducated, but where are y'all getting this information ;-; ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 16:57, 11 September 2026 (UTC)
- Some of the editors live in regions that already released Rising, that is Japan and Taiwan. Taiwan apparently has an English release, too. EPF (talk) 17:02, 11 September 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure what's the correct spelling for her name (I watched without subs in Japan). If we were to follow Faust, her name would probably be "Margarete", which would fits well with the other Gretchen (which came from Little Grete as in Margarete), but I don't know. -- 0x99 (talk) 17:03, 11 September 2026 (UTC)
- It was pointed out on social media that the specific broken sword she uses matches up with Valentin's in the Faust Operatic.... which specifically uses the spelling "Marguerite" per Wikipedia. It was an adaption of "Carré's play Faust et Marguerite". HomuraDidNothingWrong (talk) 00:00, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- I saw that too, shall we change the title to Marguerite (single t) for now? Or shall we wait for someone to watch EN sub with Taiwan release? -- 0x99 (talk) 04:47, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- I vaguely remember it being Marguerite in the English subtitles of the Taiwanese release, but I was mainly following the Chinese subtitles, so I didn’t pay much attention to the spelling. I’ll probably have to check again when I watch it a second time, or see if anyone else remembers it more clearly.--Hilbert88 (talk) 18:54, 12 September 2026 (UTC)

- Is the TL of her line in the trivia section official, too? Thy is singular, but anata-tachi is plural, so it's weird EPF (talk) 11:14, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- Let's mark unofficial tl and verification needed for now; the TL needs User:Sondenise or User:Hilbert88 to confirm since I don't have access to English subtitle. The Japanese quote is completely from memory, so I could be mis-remembering あなた/あなたたち. -- 0x99 (talk) 15:41, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have the Japanese and Chinese script if you want them. As far as I know it isn't official and when utilizing it with the audio of the movie it doesn't include some grunts, or things like that. So it should be okay I think, but I'll wait for confirmation and a place to put it. ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 08:43, 18 September 2026 (UTC)

Magia Record
Maybe I misunderstood something, and it will get explained by the canon later, but if Marguerite/Walpurgis was the first Witch, how did the Symbols Witch exist? Or Ebony, or even Toyo's situations. Marguerite was clearly a nun so it has to be after christianity became a thing in Europe. Is it insinuating that Symbols wasn't a Witch at all, or do we just wait for another explanation. ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 14:57, 14 September 2026 (UTC)
This is kind of an addition to that, but can someone who has watched the movie/read the pamphlet tell me if Marguerite's wish/birth of Walpurgis rewrote the universe, or whether Witches started existing only after that point in time. ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 14:12, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- QB mentions something among the line of (very WR spoilers heavy; quote from my memory): もっとも彼女より後に生まれた魔法少女でなければ、その恩恵は受けられないようだ ("But it looks like unless a Magical Girl is born after her, they won't be able to reap the benefit") so it's the latter based on this wording.
- For few prehistoric Magical Girls, right now I like the theory that it wasn't the Witch that were called "Monster of Myth", etc. in BCE, but the Demon/魔物; and even though Madoka wished to "erases all the Witches before they were born", the "before they were born" part trigger some cause and effect shenanigans that make it apply to Demon/Mamono as well (since witches wouldn't have existed without Demon/魔物) (and thus Cleopatra/Himiko). (Or it's just that the Magical Girls convent predates the Christian one; and the latter copies the former, etc.) -- 0x99 (talk) 17:01, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- It's possibe that Madokami only saved girls after Marguerite's wish in the law of cycles universe too, and Marguerite's wish this time caused Wraiths to start appearing. It's also possible some time travel shenanigans happened in that universe specifically since Ebony confirms Witches' existence by name. Or that universe is an anomaly... the good ole reliable. It willl keep not making sense until they feel like explaining it. ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 19:22, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- Don't forget the possibility that W:R just doesn't treat Magia Record as canon (unless there's very clear evidence to the contrary that I'm unaware of; trying to avoid any major spoilers right now). ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 05:40, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- One of the old trailers had Magireco-original Witches at some point, but given I've heard some scenes changed a lot between the prerelease trailers and the 2026 stuff, dunno if they still made it in. That being said, we have evidence of pre-Medieval Magical Girls having soul gems in the 2011 anime too, see Himiko in episodes 11/12. Even if that girl isn't actually Himiko (which, come on), she's still unambiguously a 3rd century CE Magical Girl with a soul gem. EPF (talk) 08:32, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- In the actual movie, Nazukasokotsune's Witch guidebook does indeed include several Magia Record-original Witches, such as Ichizo and Rebecca, as well as some Familiars. (I think Cyan / Hinano's Witch form may have appeared too, though that shot was pretty brief, so I'm not completely sure.) So W:R doesn't seem to completely deny the existence of the Witches from Magia Record. Also, the main story of Magia Exedra seems to be connected to the Symbol Witch, so there may still be a chance for them to explain all of this later. (And I guess the worst-case explanation would just be that Winchester caused some kind of spacetime anomaly...?) --Hilbert88 (talk) 09:42, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- Let's just wait and see. I'll hold off on adding WR info to timelines and such until we have a definitive subbed version of the movie or confirmation from anything. ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 11:03, 17 September 2026 (UTC)

Translations of non-English non-PMMM works
The trivia section contains a fragment of a translation of Faust (originally a German work), but there are multiple TLs available. What should be our wiki's policy on that? The TL used seems to match this one: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Faust_(Goethe)/Scene_4 , but WikiSource also has this more archaic one: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Works_of_J._W._von_Goethe/Volume_7/Faust,_Part_I/Act_II,_Scene_I
My hand upon it! There!
If to the passing moment e'er I say,
"Oh, linger yet, thou art so fair!"
Then cast me into chains you may,
Then will I die without a care!
Then may the death-bell sound its call,
Then art thou from thy service free,
The clock may stand, the index fall,
And time and tide may cease for me!
EPF (talk) 18:02, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- I don't know about policy, but I speak German and I looked at the original German version. The one on the wiki takes more liberties and the one here is the more accurate translation. The first is more poetic, but it alters some details, like 'if' becomes 'when,' 'gladly go to ruin' becomes 'declare my ruin,' and 'hand fall' becomes 'hand be broken.' They couldn't keep it entirely accurate since they needed it to rhyme. I vote we use this one for accuracy but I think either one is fine as long as the source is clarified, especially since I doubt they looked at the original German text when writing the movie.
- I will say though, the first line "My hand upon it! There!" is a bit misleading since in the original is just stage direction ad as far as I can tell it got turned into a spoken line so the actors would know what to do next.

- Is that JP TL public domain? I found this passage from a diff JP TL, but it doesn't "match" Marguerite's line. https://ja.wikisource.org/wiki/%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A6%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88#%E6%9B%B8%E6%96%8E It would be nice to have the "whole" thing, so to speak.
- I have seen the 時よ止まれ、汝は如何に美しい version everywhere, but I don't think I have seen the whole translation. Pixivpedia have a bit more of the text, but they don't seems to identify which edition they're quoting from (and they seems to take a lot of liberty with the translation, I have no idea how to match it with the DE/EN lines...). -- 0x99 (talk) 15:48, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
Coordinator
Can she be considered a Coordinator? If her power is to purify Soul Gems, that makes it sounds like she works on Soul Gems the same way as a coordinator, but her wish isn't a curse (literally the opposite). Don't know enough about the movie to decide on this myself. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 19:49, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- I'd say she's more similar to Ui if anything. Or maybe a mix of Ui and Touka, removing the impurities and turning them into what we now know as phase shift energy. But this is just my observation. ~ Sweet Beanie (talk) 08:21, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
- Ah I just assumed she's more coordinator adjacent because her power is specific to Soul Gems (or atleast listed on the wiki as such), while Ui's is just the power to collect and she happens to use it on Soul Gems. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 10:47, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
