Story
Part I
In a notebook, Karin Misono writes about her love for Halloween, but also how the event has faded out of its glory days. She writes in the notebook hoping to create a wonderful story.

On Halloween day, Karin admits it's no fun. In an alleyway she finds a picture she feels like she remembers, it looked old but had a charm to it. Karin compares the picture to the town, where everything is dull and nobody cares that it's Halloween, and how that will keep going everyday. In her notebook, she writes about how a long time ago, one day Halloween started being every day. Karin doesn't know when it happened, but has heard how it brought the world into "perpetual night" and just how sudden it was. At first everybody enjoyed Halloween, but it being every day got them bored of it, and nobody celebrates it anymore, Karin worries that because of this Halloween could disappear for good. Karin vows to make Halloween happy again, but feels like someone scary told her to not get carried away like that. In her notebook, she writes about how she has no memories of being little, only remembering her name, her love for Halloween and a few words of wisdom from someone she can't remember. She admits she doesn't care where she was born or who her parents are, believing she must have had her reasons for forgetting. She remembers somebody taking care of her when she didn't have a family. She focuses back on her mission to bring Halloween back, but worries she won't be able to do it alone, so she plans to find some accomplices.

In her notebook, Karin writes about hearing a rumor about a town where a baking genius lives and creates the best Halloween ever. She knows she has to find them. On her way she goes through a forest, where she gets lost and starts to cry. She suddenly snaps out of it thinking about a forest-dwelling creature coming to guide her, remembering someone who told her to read a story like that. Karin can't understand why she didn't remember this before now, but gets startled by a rustle, she asks if it's mr bear but it's instead Rebecca, a Witch. She remembers how Witches started to appear after Halloween became daily, and how only Sorceresses can fight them. She herself is a Sorceress, but not a fighter. Karin remembers advice about running away from danger and listens to it, fleeing from the Witch. As she runs, she cries about this being the end of her story, begging for the Witch to just ignore her, and with a flash of light, it listens. Karin can't believe it just worked, wondering if the Witch understood her and almost considers teaming up with one, but decides that they are too savage. At the edge of the forest, she sees a town, believing it's the one from the rumor.

As Karin walks around Candyland[note 1], she notices just how quiet it is and how the decorations look kinda old, feeling like there was one Halloween celebration a long time ago. She worries about this even being the right town, but encourages herself to keep going and decides to talk to some townspeople and understand the rumor. Karin's "Detective" arc begins! After some time, she found out that no one lives in any of the houses. She tries to look a bit farther from town, but gets lost in a forest again. She hears a rustle again and worries that it's a Witch, but instead a person comes out, Mami Tomoe. Mami offers for Karin to rest at her place for a while, offering tea and snacks. They exchange names and Karin calls her "Mami-senpai". Karin kinda worries about the advice she heard, to not follow strangers, but decides to trust Mami.

Mami takes Karin to her house, who gets really happy when she sees how decorated it is from the outside. Karin asks Mami if she likes Halloween and Mami confirms this, when Mami asks the question back Karin explains her mission to bring Halloween back to its glory, which suprises Mami for a second, she ushers them in.

Inside, Mami leaves Karin for a while to put the tea on. The size of Mami's house makes Karin antsy, and gets her confused on why Mami lives alone is such a big house. She feels a sweet scent, she felt this scent from Mami before and it reminds her of Halloween, even though she doesn't remember it. Mami comes back with the tea and treats. Karin eats them and asks Mami where she bought them, Mami says she makes them herself and Karin calls her a genius. Karin asks Mami why the town isn't having a happy Halloween even when she makes such good treats, which makes Mami sad.
Mami starts to explain her and Candyland's past. Once upon a time the Halloween was happy, and because Mami loves baking, she would hand out what she made to everyone around. No matter how happy the Halloweens were, people still got tired of them, and so everyone left the town, leaving Mami alone. Karin sympathizes with Mami, but she assures her that she's happy now that Karin is there to be in her company. Karin keeps sympathizing with her though, believing that the people of Candyland treated her like trash after they got bored of Halloween and her treats. Mami instead believes that nobody is in the wrong. By now, Karin knows Mami is the genius baker from the rumor, so she asks her to help her make Halloween happy again. Mami asks her if all she heard was that there was a baking genius, looking suprised. She then snaps out of it, offering to go bring more tea.

In a different room, Mami thinks about how she lied to Karin, or rather left out important information about herself and the other reason why the townspeople left. Mami worries Karin would be scared of her and leave if she told her, and that she would also fear her. Mami realizes she doesn't know where that she is, getting really worried now.

Back with Karin, she worries about Mami not liking the idea of joining her on her quest, but she stays determined to recruit her. Karin truly believes that Mami is a good person, even only off of the treats she bakes. She then notices a plushie that wasn't there before. Karin thinks it's cute and remembers a time when she used to cuddle with one, or was instead rough with it. The "plushie" then starts to run and Karin chases it in confusion. Karin catches up, but the plushie suddenly turns into a big Witch, and opens her big mouth to eat Karin. As Karin believes that she's gonna die, her life flashes before her eyes, but because she doesn't remember anything, it was moreso her imagination than memories. She remembers a scary person's advice and gets motivated, not wanting to die before she saves Halloween. Karin yells at the Witch to stop and a light flashes, making it flinch, but then the Witch gets smacked, from none other than Mami who now appears in a Halloween outfit.

Mami calls the Witch "Bebe" and tells her to stop playing tricks, warning that she won't get her snacks if she scares people. Bebe turns back into her smaller form and Mami has her apologize. As Mami wants to start explaining Karin asks her if she's also a Sorceress, noticing from the new outfit she is wearing. Mami realizes from the wording that Karin is one too, which calms her down. Karin tells her how she lost her memories and is useless in fights, and then asks if the thing on her shoulder is a Witch, but Mami explains that it's a plushie that she infused with magic, and only the one who can turn big is a Witch. Karin is confused, but Mami then thinks about what she saw before smacking Bebe, and how Bebe flinched when Karin told her to stop, but brushes it off.
Mami explains how Bebe is under her control, meaning that even though she's a Witch, they are friends. Mami says that Bebe is usually friendly, just mischievous at times, but Karin reminds her that Bebe looked like she was really about to eat Karin, making Mami apologize for her. Karin assures Mami it's not her fault and tells Bebe that if she misbehaves again, she will be barred from snacks forever, making another light flash. Mami is surprised at her tone, asking if she isn't scared anymore, but Karin says Bebe looks very cute, Mami wishes everyone else would also think that way. Mami admits to Karin that she didn't tell her the whole truth about the townspeople leaving. She also admits to using magic in creating the treats and that the title "baking genius" isn't right, Karin believes that isn't enough to make her a cheater though. She explains how at first everyone was happy with the treats, but when they saw Bebe they got scared. They called them "the Witch and the Sorceress", believing that they use the treats to trick them and summon other Witches to the area.
Mami tried to dispel the rumors, creating the plushie on her shoulder to make Bebe seem cuter, but because of Bebe's mischief it failed. She knows Bebe is mischievous because she believes it will bring her closer to people. Karin feels bad for the pair, suggesting leaving Candyland and coming with her, believing Halloween needs her treats. Mami declines the offer, but Karin tries to assure her that she won't leave like the townspeople did and that she isn't scared of her or Bebe. Mami tells her that's not the real issue, believing she and Bebe would only get in Karin's way and that more people believe that she is a Sorceress with a Witch who lures people with treats rather than a baking genius. Mami tells Karin to leave the town after the tea, telling her that she is okay with living only with Bebe and that even she doesn't find fun in Halloween anymore.
Karin thinks about how Mami originally said she liked Halloween, she tells Mami to be honest, to admit that if she's lonely. Mami thinks about her loneliness, going deep into thought. She remembers how her parents died when she was young, and she lived in the giant home since, only with Bebe. She didn't have any other Sorceress friends, but when Halloween started being everyday, she used her magic to make the civilians happy, and she felt like she belonged even if what they wanted were the treats, not her. She simply accepted when they all left, trying to believe she isn't lonely because she still had Bebe, but she admits to Karin just how lonely she has always felt. Mami compliments Karin on how she was able to see through her, but Karin attributes that to also being lonely.

Karin admits how much she wishes she had a family and that's the reason she went searching for a story. She read books about heroes, detectives and animated plushies, but none of those stories unlocked her memories, so she decided to write her own story. Part of her believes having no memory is a good thing, because she's a blank slate and can do whatever she wants with her story. She once again tries to persuade Mami to join her adventure, but Mami still hesitates. Mami then chuckles, complimenting Karin's will and asks to join her story, but Karin assures her that she will still be the main character of her own story, not just a side character in her's.
They go out, planning to start local before helping the whole world love Halloween. Karin admits she didn't really have a plan, so Mami suggests setting up a store, suggesting to sell her treats but also savory food so nobody gets bored. Karin is surprised that Mami could make savory dishes with her magic too, not understanding this world's magic. Karin then worries about what to do with Bebe, Mami suggests selling the plushies that look like her but Karin doesn't think it's a good idea. Karin suggests just taking Bebe with them, believing everyone will realize how sweet she is. Mami worries about Bebe's misbehaving but Karin makes a deal with Bebe that she will get a reward for acting nice. Karin's "Halloween Emporium" arc begins!

Karin and Mami go to other towns to promote Mami's food, but fail. They found a woman and offered her food, at first the woman complimented their commitment to Halloween as she hasn't seen that in a while, but she quickly realizes that Mami and Bebe are "the Witch and the Sorceress" from the rumors. Mami tries assuring the woman that the rumors aren't true, but she runs away.

Karin worries so Mami offers to take a break and eat, but Karin believes that there's no time for breaks. Mami assures her that an empty stomach is a real obstacle and offers to show Karin her magic. Mami and Bebe try to create food that Karin is craving, and with an invocation create a cheesecake. Karin thought it was a pumpkin pie, as that's what she was craving, but Mami tells her it's Bebe's influence so they try again.
After arguing with Bebe, Mami creates tons of desserts, which makes her happy as Bebe's cheese was enough to balance the sweetness. The trio forget about their original plans and chow down. People from around started to come over as they saw and smelled the food, but one girl notices Bebe and recognizes her as the one from the rumor. Karin and Bebe keep eating, making the girl feel safer. Mami comes up to her, offering the food, but the girl tells her about hearing the rumors. Mami doesn't react strongly and keeps eating with Karin and Bebe, so the girl decides to join in and more people came by. The people became less scared of Bebe as she didn't attack them and only eat Mami's food. All of this created a new, positive rumor about Mami's magic food.
Once this rumor has spread, some people started coming to Candyland. Even the townspeople started coming back, they admit to Mami that her food is some of the best they've had and that they never actually seen Bebe attack anyone. As Karin started to think they got their happy ending, a new rumor started to go around. Karin and Mami hear two people talking about "Artland", a place filled with spooky art, which makes Karin want to go there, as she believes spooky art is one of the three essentials for Halloween. A woman tells Karin to not go there, explaining the rumor further: In Artland, a sharp-tounged ghost will look into your heart and make it into art. As the days went by, the rumor changed. Mami is told the "truth" about Artland's ghost, and that it collects hearts to bring itself back to life. Someone else tells her that the ghost turns the hearts into art. Karin worries this is the start of her "Horror" arc.
Someone claims they have been to Artland and took a picture, when Karin sees this picture she recognizes it as the one she found before even starting her mission, feeling she saw it even before but can't remember. Mami wonders if it's a lost memory of Karin but Karin thinks it could just be famous art. Karin thinks that if this art is famous, they could get the artist to help them revive Halloween, but Mami worries that if they're from Artland they could be tied to the ghost. Mami also mentions how they might not like Halloween, but Karin believes that deeply in their heart, they do. After hearing more of the rumor, Karin thinks that maybe the rumor is a misunderstanding, just like Mami's was, but if it's they need to stop the ghost from further ruining Halloween. Karin tries to tell Mami something, but a person screams out about a Witch.

The trio run to the screams and near Mami's house they find the Witch, Zenobia. Karin asks Mami if she could use her magic to make it nice like she did with Bebe, but Mami doesn't think she can because it only works for Witches that are on her wavelength, meaning they will have to defeat her. Karin worries as she never actually fought a Witch, but Mami encourages her. Mami calls Bebe over but an old lady suddenly accuses Bebe of summoning the Witch. The woman believes that the girls work with the Witches, Mami tries to argue but can't handle it again, so Karin decides that they should ignore her and focus on the Witch. As the two prepare to fight, Karin's "Spartan Training" arc begins!

Karin attacks Zenobia but it does no damage. The Witch starts heading towards the civilians, which makes Karin worries as even though they don't trust Mami again, she knows they can still prove that she's innocent. She yells at the Witch to not come any closer, and with a flash of light Zenobia stops. Mami quickly tells Bebe to transform and also transforms her plushie replica into the big form, the two big Bebes attack Zenobia in unison and manage to kill her. Mami explains how because Karin distracted the Witch, she could bestow more magic into the plushie and make it transform like Bebe can. Karin takes this as being bait for the Witch. The people from before have seen the whole thing go down, and call Mami a hero, trusting her again.
Karin decides to part her ways with the duo, believing Candyland needs Mami to protect them and to fully gain the trust, she decides she will go to Artland alone. Mami worries and wants to go with her but Karin refuses. Mami worries about being alone again, but Karin reassures her that she still has Bebe and now the townspeople back. Karin believes she won't be alone either, as now she knows that there is an other Sorceress who wants to save Halloween as much as she wants to. The people come to Mami, apologizing for the doubt and accusations, they want to eat Mami's food but also get to know her better. Mami feels nicer now that she feels needed, but internally worries that the townspeople will again leave her after a mishap, she knows Karin is her only good friend but doesn't want to burden her with this. Mami decides to let her go but not before teaching her everything she knows about being a Sorceress and some non-magical baking. Mami calls this the "Karin's Special Sorceress Training" arc. Karin knows that this is her way of speaking and Mami admits she read her story while she was asleep.
After the training, Mami and Karin asses the cookies and cakes Karin baked. The cakes weren't as good as the cookies but according to Mami the cookies are enough to get her through Halloween. One last thing before Karin can go, Mami decides to give her a magical power so she hugs her, Karin feels her sweet scent and feels the magic. Karin asks her what this power is and Mami explains that when she's in trouble and wishes hard enough, Mami will come. The two part ways.
After Karin leaves, Mami and Bebe go look how Candyland is doing. She hears more rumors getting spread and gets frustrated. The townspeople talk about the rumor of Artland's ruler and their "wish magic". The rulers of Artland have always been useless but liked by their people, and they used their wish magic to control the land. They mention how that magic can take control of anyone, humans and Witches. Mami thinks hard about this wish magic.
In a forest, on the way to Artland Karin gets lost once again, but she quickly tells herself that she's not the girl she used to be and continues her story.
Once Upon a Happy Halloween
Amidst the endless tapestry of time and space, this place was but one of a myriad of possibilities that may have existed.
This story is a little memory quietly tucked away in a corner of that possibility.

One day, Halloween started being everyday, at first people of Candyland liked it, but quickly grew bored and left. Halloween is on the verge of collapse. Mami with Bebe are the only ones left of Candyland, she thinks about how it started. Not long after this change, Witches started to appear and Sorceresses, like Mami, were the only ones who could fight them. She defended Candyland and handed out treats to the townspeople, especially liking to give them out to children who always got really excited and happy when she did. In the memory, the children ask Mami how she does it, so she demonstrates and creates the foods that the kids were thinking of. The kids worry about her always giving but not getting, but she brushes it off. They then ask her what's her favourite treat, she thinks about it hard which confuses the kids. Mami ends up answering that there's too many to choose from and ushers the kids to their homes as it's late. She thinks to herself how she never actually questioned it, because the town being happy was enough.

In her house, Mami rests after getting injured in a Witch fight, but suddenly her doorbell rings. The two kids from before come into her house after hearing she got injured, but Mami assures them she just needs time to heal. Mami offers making treats, but the kids just wanted to check up on her. They then tell her about the adults spreading strange rumors about her and Bebe, but that they don't believe them. The kids reveal that they brought a lot of treats as a way to say thank you, but because they didn't know which one was her favourite they brought a whole selection. The kids know the treats aren't magic, but Mami still gets really happy, calling their treats magic as they were made with love. The kids make a pact with her to exchange treats and promise to bring more tomorrow, and Mami offers a tea party.
Back in present time, Mami wonders about the two kids now that they left Candyland with their families.
Part II
In her notebook, Karin Misono writes about her recent adventure with Mami Tomoe and how she's trying to find the town called "Artland" now, also writing about the rumor of a ghost who steals people's hearts and turns them into art. Back in reality, she remembers she got lost in a forest, but keeps walking forward.

Karin makes it to Artland and looks around, thinking it looks way more normal than what she was expecting. She sees the picture she remembers seeing before starting her journey and in Candyland when a man brought it after "escaping" Artland. She believes the artist has to be a fan of Halloween, and that they must be close. Suddenly a trio of girls, Mito Aino, Reira Ibuki and Seika Kumi, greet Karin. They ask her if she's a traveler and welcome her to Artland, Mito can feel her sweet scent and guesses she's from the "town of treats". Karin is suprised they knew the place, so Reira explains how a person came from Candyland to Artland recently, but ran off after taking some picture, Karin remembers this as the man who claimed to "survive" Artland. The girls introduce themselves as a storytelling troupe called "the Peppy Paper Players", and Reira admits it's a bit cringe to call themself peppy. The girls also introduce themselves by name, but Reira has to introduce Seika as she kept quiet, Karin notices how she looks quite angry but Reira assures her that she's just nervous. Mito decides they should put on a show for Karin.
The storytelling trio start their show, using illustrations to help themselves. They explain Artland, a place where unique works of art line every street and how their ruler loved Halloween. But since everyday became Halloween the ruler suddenly disappeared and Halloween became dull. The ruler's former advisor, a ghost, took over as regent of Artland, but this ghost has no interest in Halloween, so the citizens await the return of the ruler.
After the show Karin believes that they're all on the same page of wanting to bring Halloween back, and Mito agrees. Karin then realizes the ghost regent that's ruling over Artland must be the heart-stealing ghost from the rumor. Karin asks them if this ghost makes scary art, to which Reira answers by calling the art a bit creepy. Karin believes that Halloween needs spooky art, not unsettling art, remembering the words she heard. Out of nowhere, Emiri Kisaki comes out to tell Karin that it's not a good idea. Emily tells her that she runs the counseling room in Artland and tells her how scary the regent is.
As Karin talked with Emily, more people started to appear- Hinano Miyako, a chemist in Artland and Rika Ayano and Ren Isuzu, plushie makers in Artland. The new comers tell Karin all about Artland and how boring it got since the ruler left. Hinano tells everyone to keep their voices down or the police might show up, scaring Karin a bit, but Emily assures her the police isn't scary. Rika tells Karin that the police could take her to the regent's palace, or as Emily calls it "Scary Regent HQ", but Karin wants to go there and meet the ghost. Hinano reminisces over a time the regent used to like the Halloween, back when the ruler was still in Artland. Karin still believes the rumor about the ghost stealing hearts and worries that her "Horror" arc continues.
Suddenly someone new shows up, yelling at all the girls for gathering together and notices the new visitor, Karin. Emiri tries to cheer up her but she denies being nice when she's working. Karin realizes that she, Akira Shinobu, is the police of Artland and Emily claims they're friends, pissing Akira off again. Akira calls Karin suspicious and decides to take her to the palace. Karin worries about her new "Prison" arc, but believes this is her chance to stop the ghost.

Akira brings Karin into the palace, telling regent Alina Gray how she found her in Artland but she doesn't seem to be a threat. Alina gives herself time to think. Karin asks if Alina is a ghoul, but Akira tells her that Alina doesn't like being called that. Akira explains how Alina served the royal family for generations and nobody truly knows how old she is because of her everlasting young appearance. Karin is confused on how a ghoul has legs, but Akira says it's just for easier walking and that she can float when she wants to. Karin worries about how long Alina is thinking and Akira worries she might want to turn Karin into art, scaring Karin further and starting her "Fatal" arc.
From Alina's point of view, she thinks about using Karin for her art, but believes she has a monochrome heart like everyone else. She reminisces of old times before the ruler disappeared, of how full everyone's hearts were, especially the heir's to the throne. Alina's sick of Halloween and can't escape Artland as she is bound to it by magic. Akira asks what she should do with Karin so Alina dismisses her wants her kicked out. Karin argues back, surprising both Akira and Alina. Karin asks for Alina-senpai's help to bring back Halloween, believing her artistic talent is needed for this goal. Alina complains that everyday is already Halloween. Alina confirms that the art around Artland is hers, which makes Karin even more sure that she needs her in this adventure. Karin asks for an autograph and believes the art proves that Alina's a Halloween fan. Karin also worries about her stealing people's hearts and that she needs to stop, but Alina's overwhelmed by all the things she's saying, interrupting her and expressing her lack of interest in Halloween. Karin desperately wants Alina to remember who she was when she liked Halloween, and a flash of light shines, which Alina recognizes as magic. Alina, again, says that she never liked Halloween and tells Karin to get out.
Karin decides a different approach, talking about all the wonders of Halloween, but Alina only complains. Karin can't believe that Alina doesn't like Halloween, believing she can still make her like it. Alina finally had enough, telling her to shut up and to make her like Halloween through actions. She sets a deadline, if Karin can't make her love Halloween by the end of the day, she turns Karin into art, Karin agrees and happily runs to make her the best Halloween party she can, Akira runs after her. Alina gets annoyed with herself for setting this, expecting this day to be annoying. Alina thinks about something similar happening in the past, without understanding why she's remembering it now.

Outside of the palace now, Karin realizes what deal she just made with Alina, but decides to get to work. She makes the cookies that Mami taught her to bake, but doesn't know what to do after. Alina secretly observes her and complains about how similar she is to a girl Alina used to take care of. Mito, Reira and Seika come to Karin, offering to help with the deal. Emily, Rika, Ren and Hinano also join in, which irritates Alina over just how much they like Karin.
Karin and the citizens of Artland manage to get the Halloween party ready, the Peppy Paper Players drew Halloween art, the plushie shop duo brought spooky plushies, and Hinano will use the plushies in a Halloween science show. After the party in the palace, Alina calls the party mid. Alina compliments their ideas, but complains about the lack of "emozioni" she was looking for, also calling Karin's cookies barely edible. Alina does admit that them coming all together had the "emozionale" factor she was looking for, but it wasn't Karin's own doing, so she has failed.
Alina decides it's time to use Karin for her art, which scares Karin and she yells out to not take her heart, but this confuses Alina. Alina explains how her art uses the heart, but not in a literal sense and that she doesn't just take it, just peeks into it. Alina looks into Karin's heart with magic, which hurts Karin for a second. As she looks into her heart, Alina expects it to be just as monochrome as everyone's, but is blinded by a happy and pure light. Alina is happy with the results. Akira worries for Karin, but nothing really happened to her. Karin is confused on if Alina took her heart, but the citizens explain how it's just a dumb rumor, instead Alina looks into their hearts and draws their worst secrets. Karin remembers all the renditions of the rumor she heard in Candyland.

Karin is embarrassed that she believed the rumors even after the ones about Mami were false, she apologizes to everyone. Karin goes back to begging Alina for help, believing that by looking into people's hearts, she can see what they want for Halloween. Alina doesn't respond and the girls tell Karin that she's probably not even listening. Mito feels something bad heading their way, and suddenly the Witch Rebecca appears in Artland. Karin recognizes it as the Witch that found her in the forest before she ended up in Candyland and believes that it was following her.

The citizens worry that they don't stand a chance, and that even though Alina is no Sorceress, as a ghost she could still fight. Karin begs her for help, but Alina dismisses the Witch and decides to go back to her palace, Karin complains but Alina can tell she's a Sorceress and tells her to fight by herself. Mito is suprised that Karin is a Sorceress but Alina thinks it was obvious, Karin admits she's far too weak and was too ashamed to tell anyone. Karin asks Alina how she knew and Alina believes Karin cast a spell on her. Alina believes that because the Witch was following Karin, she should fight it, but Karin is still doubtful about her abilities so she asks Alina for help, causing another flash of light. Alina can tell that it's another spell and gets ready to walk away, but the Witch attacks her first. Alina gets angry and fights the Witch, just not for Karin, but it doesn't stop Karin for thanking her. Alina still makes her fight.
In the fight, Karin stumbles into Alina and later thinks Alina was talking to her when telling the Witch to disappear already. The Witch suddenly attacks Karin, but is too fast for her to dodge. Her life flashes before her eyes like it did when she thought Bebe would eat her, but this time with real memories of Mami, the Artland girls and Alina. Alina jumps infront of Karin and takes the attack, collapsing to the ground.
Alina thinks to herself about protecting Karin in that moment, complaining about her but as an artist also admiring her heart. She then thinks about a different reason, the rulers of Artland had the power to be "useless yet adored" and "wish magic", magic that makes others follow them if they wished hard enough. She remembers how the ruler wanted her to protect the land in their place, magically bounding her to Artland. Alina truly believes that Karin has this magic, as her words were enough for Alina's memories to flood back. Alina believes that Karin uses this magic unconciously, and is embarrassed that she fell for it.
Alina suddenly remembers a memory where she yelled at the heir to the throne for acting without thinking, back when the ruler was still around. The heir wishes Halloween was every day, but Alina tells her that she would get bored. Another memory floods in, of the time the heir got kidnapped right after Halloween started being everyday, and the ruler went to look for her, leaving Alina in Artland.

In present time, Karin pleads for Alina to wake up. The Witch then starts moving again, so Karin decides to finally step up, telling all the girls to take Alina and hide. After the girls reluctantly listen to her, Karin fights Rebecca but struggles, still, she doesn't let the Witch's attacks bring her down. Suddenly she hears gunshots and words of encouragement. Mami and Bebe appear, Mami congratulates Karin for holding on for so long, reminding her of the time she gave her the magic to call out for her. Bebe unleashes her big form and takes the Witch head on, killing her.
The other girls come out of hiding with Alina, but Karin notices that Alina must have died. Karin cries and apologizes about being too weak and thinking that she's a heart stealing monster, and at the end wishing for Alina to not be dead. With a flash of light, Alina wakes up and complains about Karin's constant talking, also being offended at being called a monster. Karin believes she's a zombie, but she's a ghost that can't die. Karin truly believes she came back to life, annoying Alina who has always been dead, but she decides to drop it and talk about the memories she remembered because of Karin's wish magic. Alina tells Karin that she was the heir to the throne of Artland, but Karin doesn't understand. Mami is surprised as Alina says that Karin has wish magic, believing that Karin is the heir, but Karin still doesn't get it.
Alina tells her how only royals had wish magic, meaning she must be one, the one who got kidnapped when Halloween started being everyday. Karin doesn't think she has wish magic, but Alina tells her to think about all the times stuff became true when she just thought hard. Karin thinks about the time when Rebecca ignored her, Bebe flinched after being told to stop, or when Zenobia didn't come to Karin. Alina is annoyed that she used this power without knowing it, but Karin is happy just how many times it saved her.
Alina complains about the wish magic driving her crazy and how Karin forced Alina's memories to come back into her mind. Karin takes this as Alina liking Halloween at one point, but Alina denies. Karin asks if Alina also lost her memory, but Alina says that only Karin did after getting kidnapped. Alina complains and tells her all the advice she used to before she got kidnapped, suddenly making Karin connect that Alina is the scary person she managed to remember who gave her advice. Karin thanks Alina for everything.
The citizens of Artland are very confused and suprised that Karin is the heir to the land's throne, but Alina explains how the ruler wanted to keep her a secret. Alina admits to Karin that the reason the ruler left was because they went searching for Karin.
Karin's head is fuzzy but she realizes she must have known the picture because she lived here. Mami is happy that Karin found a home, and suggests she stays as she is the heir. Alina is happy with the idea as she doesn't like being the regent, but Karin doesn't believe she should when she's still missing so many of her memories, and also believes bringing back Halloween is a higher priority. Karin decides that she needs to find the ruler now that she knows they're searching for her and believes that they're a key part of bringing Halloween back. She asks Alina to come with her, but unknowingly uses her wish magic, which Alina points out. Alina complains about not being able to leave the land, but Karin believes that can be broken.

Karin takes Alina to the edge of Artland and walk over the border, with Alina ending up fine because of Karin's wish magic overwriting the ruler's. Alina rethinks not wanting to go with her, thinking that this new adventure might be interesting. Mami asks them if they have a destination but Karin believes they can figure it out on their way, annoying Alina. Reira and Hinano worry about being left without the regent, but Karin assures them they will be okay and should wait until they bring the ruler back. The girls accept and Emily suggests a girl's night when they come back. Mami assures Karin that she can still call her for her help in the future, and Karin thanks her. Karin tells Alina to hop on her broomstick but Alina isn't sure of Karin being able to steer it, Karin doesn't listen and flies with Alina.
On the broom, Karin looks at Artland and comments on how tiny it appears. Alina tells her to stop looking down or they will fall. Karin complains about that not being a good ending to her story, but Alina says that she's here only for the art. Karin believes she will make Alina remember her love for Halloween, frustrating her for the millionth time.
Not a Ghoul but a Ghost
Amidst the endless tapestry of time and space, this place was but one of a myriad of possibilities that may have existed.
This story is a little memory quietly tucked away in a corner of that possibility.
Long before Halloween was daily, one Halloween, Artland's ruler invited all the children to a party in the palace. Alina Gray, as the advisor was tasked with preparing the party and watching over the children, being very unhappy with this. Part of her doesn't mind as her art benefits from children being happy, but she's still irritated. Alina goes outside of the palace to supply snacks and toys, but realizes she doesn't know what snacks the kids like. She comes up to a random kid, who calls her a ghoul instead of a ghost, and asks what's their favourite candy. The kid is excited with the Halloween party and tells Alina that they love all candy, annoying her. She asks about toys, to which the kid also answers that they love them all. Alina knows better than to lash out at the kid, so she for specifics. The kid starts to list things they like, but also list things their friends like. Alina believes she'd rather give every kid the same thing, but the kid protests. She knows disappointed kids won't help with her art, so she decides to ask the kid about all the things kids like.

Following the kid's advice, Alina gathered all the snacks and toys, even going to the next land to buy snacks she couldn't get in Artland and going from store to store to find the specific toys. She complains but decides that it's okay if the childrens' happiness pushes her art into the right direction. At the party some kids come up to her, calling her "Miss Ghoul", and ask trick or treat. She gives candies to the kids, but they get confused on why she didn't say "Happy Halloween", she reluctantly does so. After she hands out all the snacks she decides it's art time, but a kid asks her to play with them. Alina tells the kid where the toys are, but she starts to cry. Alina gets worried and thinks that this kid is similar to the ruler's child, she apologizes to her and gives in. A different child comes wanting to play with Alina too, and the kids start to argue over whose turn it is to play with Alina. A child jumps on Alina's back and hangs on, making the other kids jealous, Alina can't take this torture.
Finally after it's over and the kids are all exhausted, they fall asleep. Alina wants to start working on her art, but she hears the kids thank "Miss Ghoul" in their sleep. She calls out that she's a ghost not a ghoul, but smiles knowing that she will get good art out of this.
