Summary

Emiri strives to be the cutest Magical Girl on earth. She has a distinct way of talking, and likes to give everyone a special nickname. Extremely straightforward, Emiri is very easygoing. Somehow she can gain the trust of anyone in almost no time.

She runs a "Trouble Consultation Office," where she gives advice and tries to help people out. It also functions as a hangout for the local magical girls.

Doppel Description

The Doppel of temptation. Its form is serpent berries. While the master of this emotion feels an affinity for her Doppel, which behaves as it pleases without any concept of good or evil, she also feels her own immaturity emanating from it. This Doppel speaks directly into one’s brain via ultrasonic tones, giving affirmation to anything and everything. The confidence and courage it grants are enough to wipe away any concern one may have. Its comfortable words lead people to develop a great dependence on them, but because it well-meaningly affirms even people’s aggressive or malicious emotions ad infinitum, it may unintentionally guide its targets towards the worst possible actions.

Side Story

Warning, this section contains spoilers.
Asuka Tatsuki and Sasara Minagi chase a familiar but lose track of it. Emiri then appears and tells them not to worry. Emiri then introduces herself. Sasara asks if Emiri was after the familiar. Emiri says she was, that she only just became a magical girl, and that this is her first time meeting other magical girls. Emiri asks Sasara and Asuka to help her, and ultimately convinces them to do so. She then gives them nicknames. Sasara says they'll need to track the familiar with their Soul Gems. Emiri asks if there's a spell that can do that, but Sasara says she's never heard of anything like that. As Asuka complains about Emiri's nicknames, Sasara senses the familiar. The girls beat the familiar, only for a witch to appear. Emiri marvels at the witch and her barrier. Sasara and Asuka see the witch has unconscious victims in her lair. Sasara and Asuka then argue over whether to save the people first or destroy the witch. Emiri says Sasara can try helping the people, which would provoke the witch, and then Asuka can attack while the witch is distracted. Sasara says it's a good plan. The girls are successful, destroying the witch. After the barrier disappears, Emiri says she'll go home. Asuka and Sasara get Emiri's contact information. Sasara and Asuka muse that Emiri has a natural charm to her. Emiri narrates that being a magical girl is tough, but fun. Some time later, Asuka and Sasara meet Emiri at the restaurant "Walnuts". Emiri asks what the meeting was about. Sasara and Asuka say they just wanted to talk a little more. Emiri asks about the restaurant, and Sasara reveals the cook is a magical girl they meet some time ago. The magical girl in question arrives: Manaka Kurumi. Manaka seems preoccupied with something. All three girls order omelette rice. Emiri asks the girls what they want to talk about. Sasara says there's just something about talking to Emiri. Asuka calls it a new discovery. Sasara then tells Emiri not to worry and that they're talking normally. Manaka then arrives with the food. Unfortunately, Sasara's meal is too salty, Asuka's is spicy, and Emiri's is too sweet (though she says it's surprisingly good). A horrified Manaka admits she was cooking absent-mindedly. Emiri says she noticed Manaka was spacing out and asks if something has happened. Manaka explains that she's creating a new dish. In order to explain, as an apology for ruining their food, she invites the three girls to try it. Manaka then brings out the "Manaka Special! (Title Pending.)" Emiri, Sasara and Asuka find the meal to be really good, which leads them to ask why Manaka is having a problem. Manaka explains the dish might not be appropriate for the restaurant, saying that Walnuts has it's own traditions. Emiri response is "who cares". Emiri says the food is so good that she wants everyone to try it, and Manaka should put it on the menu. Manaka admits Emiri is right, and that if she doesn't challenge her restaurant's traditions she won't be able to protect the restaurant. Manaka says she will bring the dish to her father's attention and thanks Emiri. Asuka then tells Emiri she can rescue people who have lost their...Emiri, and asks Emiri to represent them as a portable shrine. A confused Emiri asks if there's a festival and wonders how things have come to this. A few days later, Asuka and Sasara bring Emiri to a shopping center. They explain that they think Emiri would make a perfect advisor, since she puts people at ease and can easily get to the heart of a issue. Emiri is surprised by this, but Sasara and Asuka reveal that Manaka's father approved her dish, and now her restaurant is even more popular. Asuka says it proves Emiri's skills, and says she'd like to introduce Emiri to more people. Sasara says they want to open an advice booth. Asuka that people could talk to Emiri, dramatically claiming it's for the sake of the world and humanity. Sasara asks if Emiri is okay with it. Emiri asks what she would do. Asuka says she would just talk with people. Emiri says it sounds fun and she'll do it. Sasara then says she wants to introduce Emiri to someone, and sees that they have arrived. It turns out to be Akira Shinobu. Sasara asks Akira if she can help out at the advice booth. Akira asks why it has to be her, and Asuka says Akira has a reputation for helping. Akira points out that Sasara and Asuka can handle it, but they say they have to go out and advertise the place. Akira is still reluctant, but then Emiri starts asking about Akira's way of speaking. Sasara and Asuka slip out. The narration reveals that Emiri's advice booth was a huge success. Rika Ayano is shown asking about someone she's in love with. Emiri tells her romance is all about spirit. Rika then agrees. The stand increases in popularity, attracting more customers. Tsuruno Yui is shown, saying that when she met Emiri all her worries flew away. Eventually Ria Ami hears about the stand. The narration explains Ria is known as the most beautiful girl in Kamihama City. However, because her beauty came from a wish, Ria is concerned about her surroundings. Ria goes to the stall and waits for the crowd to thin out. Akira walks up to Ria and asks if she's here for a consultation. Ria did, but thinks if everyone found out it would be embarrassing. She tells Akira she's just checking the place out. Akira says the booth is closing for the day. Ria thinks she waited too long and asks if she can meet Emiri. Akira says Emiri's probably tired, but Ria says it's fine because "I'm Ria Ami". When Emiri sees Ria, she develops heart-eyes and calls her cute. Ria introduces herself, and Emiri recognizes her as a famous model. Emiri decides to nickname Ria "Ria-sama", because she says Ria is like a princess. Ria thinks being called with a respectful honorific feels nice. Emiri says she always wanted a big sister. She then says she was going to tell something to Kyubey, which prompts Ria to reveal she's a magical girl as well. Akira says it's a small world, but wonders if Emiri has something to do with it. Emiri says Ria must be the cutest magical girl in the world. Ria thinks hearing that makes her feel so much better. Emiri then announces she wants to partner with Ria, because she wants to be the cutest magical girl herself. Ria says she'll be happy to have Emiri as a partner. Emiri then says they should all leave to get fruit cups. She also says she wants to introduce Ami to Asuka and Sasara. The narration says Emiri soothed another heart. Emiri narrates that Ria is sparkling and she's so excited.

Winter Outfit

Emiri is hanging out with Hinano at her consultation stand. She’s showing off her latest outfit and talking about how much she likes this new look on her. Hinano agrees and compliments her leather jacket but asks if she isn’t cold. Emiri says she’s fine since she’s wearing layers, then explains that the extra layer she’s wearing isn’t clothes but the confidence a “new you” brings out in someone. Hinano isn’t sure what she’s talking about so Emiri says it’s the “rock n’ roll” Emiri she’s referring to. Hinano wonders where she gets all these strange ideas from as Emiri prepares to show off her new self. She declares this is her “rock n’ roll” soul as she announces the words out loud with a pose. Hinano just shakes her head and says all she did was translate it from English to Japanese and asks her again what she meant by the rock and roll part specifically. Emiri thinks she gets what Hinano is trying to say and asks her to start a rock band with her. If they do then a rock song will just come bursting out of them. Hinano is more confused than ever as Emiri urges her to start singing all of a sudden. Emiri suddenly begins to countdown and Hinano, who is overwhelmed by Emiri’s energy as always, suddenly begins to sing out loud at the end of the countdown. Hinano sings the words “power” over and over while Emiri chimes in with a sort of chorus inbetween each line. The two finish singing as Emiri smiles and asks Hinano what she thought of it. Hinano smiles in return before declaring that the band is over and officially breaking up.

Christmas Outfit

Emiri is showing off her new look to her friend Akira and asking how old she looks in her new outfit. Akira says she looks cute and guesses Emiri looks 17 (even though Akira knows her real age). Emiri laughs and says the correct answer was 13. Emiri says it’s rude to call a woman by the wrong age, but from the way she’s smiling Akira guesses she was right when she thought that Emiri just wanted to look more mature. Emiri says that’s right and is pleased to hear she at least looks the part. Now the only thing left for Emiri to do is to talk like an adult and she’ll have completed the look, otherwise her childish speech gives it all away. She tells Akira that from now on she’s going to play the older sister type to everyone and asks Akira-chi to help her out if she messes up. Akira thinks this all sounds like the beginning to a sitcom but agrees to help. She suggests Emiri work on her composed demeanor first, like using the proper “watashi” (私) to refer to herself rather than the slangy “a-shi” (あーし). Emiri tries to say she will but can’t get the word “watashi” out and ends up combining it into “wa-shi” (わーし) instead. Akira says that “wa-shi” is somehow worse but Emiri is too used to saying it her way and can’t get her mouth to form the words properly.

Rather than focus on the words, Akira says she should try to act more adult instead. Emiri is determined to do this right as the supervisor shows up to wish them all a Merry Christmas. Emiri is happy to see her and initially calls her the “shopping district big sis’” until she remembers she’s supposed to be acting mature. She then corrects herself and politely welcomes her to the shop before kindly asking her if she’s here for a consultation. The supervisor is impressed with Emiri, as is Akira, and tells her she’s just here to say hi and hand her a gift. She hands Emiri some orange juice as a Christmas gift and Emiri begins jumping up and down in joy. Akira tells her she’s acting like a 3 year old now so Emiri suddenly remembers she’s supposed to be mature and is barely able to stutter out a proper thank you to the supervisor. She turns to Akira and politely asks her to get them some glasses so she can pour out some orange juice for everyone. The trio raises their glasses and toast this holy night as they clink their glasses. Emiri gulps down the orange juice in one swing. Akira says she was doing good until the end. Emiri had thought that all adults drink everything down at once. The supervisor asks Akira why Emiri is acting weirder than usual. Akira explains she’s trying to act adult since she has an adult new look. The supervisor nods and comments on how mature Emiri’s new outfit looks. Giggling, Emiri asks the supervisor how old she looks. Like Akira, the supervisor already knows Emiri’s age so she guesses that Emiri looks 17 with that outfit. This time Emiri says she’s correct although Akira tries to correct her.

The supervisor know gets what Emiri is up to but says she shouldn’t act too mature if she’s trying to pass for 17. Since Emiri is only 13 it’s only natural that a 17 year old would seem like an adult to her, but the supervisor informs her that 17 year olds are still just children pretending to be mature since they’re still basically the same as they were when they were 10. If Emiri wants to pass for 17, then she should just act how she does naturally and it’ll still give off the right impression. Both Emiri and Akira are impressed with her wisdom and ask her to regale them with more stories about being an adult. Akira in particular wants to hear one about adult romance since she’s a little curious. Emiri asks the supervisor if she isn’t planning on going on a big Christmas date later, but the supervisor explains she got dumped the other day so that’s why she stopped by to hang out for a bit. Emiri throws her hands up in despair and asks Akira if she didn’t just step on a major land mind. She asks Akira how a mature adult would handle this situation before turning to the supervisor and telling her to ignore what a bunch of dumb kids are saying. Akira sighs and calls her an irresponsible adult.

Powers and Abilities

Emiri wields Charm magic, which allows her to attract others' attention and compel them to listen to her temporarily. She also has the ability to create illusions in her targets' minds, as seen in Another Daze. Emiri's weapon is her demon tail, a part of her outfit which she can extend to strike her enemies. She also creates heart-shaped light attacks from her fingers, mouth, and demon tail to attack.

Emiri's Doppel, Shalimar, communicates through ultrasonic tones to deliver messages to others. Those who hear Shalimar's voice experience overwhelming affirmation, clearing away all their doubts and leaving them with a sense of profound certainty.

Etymology

The characters of her last name mean "wood" (木) and "small peninsula"(崎), respectively.
The characters of her first name mean "clothing" (衣), "beauty" (美), and "village"(里), respectively.

Trivia

Hinano and Emiri's heights and ages are mentioned in Hinano's side story.
The Japanese text on the back of the memoria "Me x 4" and "Myako-Senpai Radar" are written backwards, hence the backwards English translations.
- For "Myako-Senpai Radar", it reads the following when flipped. "'Whoawhoawhoawhoa... whoa! A fish! I can feel a tug!' | 'Woah! Th-this is...?!' | 'Myako-senpai!' | (...Yeah! Todays radar is in great condition!)"
- For Me x 4, it reads the following when flipped. "Me and me and me and me... In other words, there is four of me here | With all of me gathered here, we'll obviously be hyped up!
