The Puella Magi Series is a series of anime, manga, movies, games, and more that are created by the Magica Quartet[1][2]. The series started in 2011 with the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and spinoffs started being created soon after the show ended, although Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The innocent malice was started during the show's original airing[3].

The series continues to see new installments to the modern day, both spinoffs and main projects alike.

Series Summary

There exist creatures that seek out girls to create Magical Girls, granting them a single wish in return for signing a contract, creating a Soul Gem, and accepting the fate of fighting monsters known as Witches. These Witches spread despair through disaster, and are needed to be killed in order to keep a girl's Soul Gem clean. When making a wish, a girl accepts a life of fighting these dangerous creatures, knowing they may take her life at any moment and cause her to disappear without a trace.

Anime

All current anime series related to the Puella Magi series. Seasons are shown below the first season. All work is written by the Magica Quartet[1] unless stated otherwise.

Having a loving family and best friends, sometimes laughing, sometimes crying - such is an ordinary everyday life. Madoka Kaname, an ordinary second-year middle school student at Mitakihara Middle School, is one of the people living that ordinary life. One day, she has a mysterious encounter. She doesn't know if this meeting is a coincidence or fate, but it is an encounter that would change her destiny forever - it is the beginning of a new Magical Girl tale.[6]
Were all the Magical Girls really saved from despair?
Now...the great "Law of Cycles" leads the Magical Girls to their new fate.
Madoka Kaname has changed the world with her wish. In this new world, is what the Magical Girls see a world of hope...or despair?[9]
In exchange for the fulfillment of a wish, Magical Girls keep fighting, unbeknownst to the rest of the world.
But Iroha Tamaki can't seem to remember her wish.
“When I became a Magical Girl, what did I wish for again?”
There is a gaping hole in her life.
Something important has been lost.
But she continues to fight every day, without even knowing why…
Then, a rumor begins to spread among Magical Girls.
“Magical Girls can be saved if they go to Kamihama.”

All current books and manga in the Puella Magi series. Additional books are shown below their first book. All work's original concept is by the Magica Quartet[2], except for Null Magical Girl. The dates shown here for manga are the dates of tankobon publication and not dates of serialization – many of these series were first serialized in Manga Time Kirara Magica.

When a new girl joins her class, Madoka Kaname feels she recognizes the mysterious, dark-haired transfer student from one of her dreams... a dream where she is approached by a cat-like creature who offers Madoka an opportunity to change destiny. Madoka had always thought magic was the stuff of fantasy... until she sees the transfer student fighting with the very cat-being from her dream! And just like in Madoka's dream, the cat gives her a choice. Will Madoka become a Magical Girl in exchange for her dearest desire? What will be the cost of having her wish come true?[19]
Kidnapped and stuffed into a trunk by an unknown assailant, teenager Kazumi bursts forth from the confines of the case to discover that she has been stripped not only of her clothes, but also of the memories of her life before the kidnapping. When she is recovered by a pair of schoolgirls, she doesn’t recognize them as her best friends and roommates, Umika and Kaoru. As Kazumi tries to settle back into her normal life, she quickly realizes that her former “normal” was anything but![19]
Oriko, a Magical Girl with the gift of foresight, knows the fate that awaits all who accept Kyubey’s offer of supernatural powers. But when she is struck with a terrible vision of the future—of the devastation caused by a single, powerful Witch—she decides to prevent the girl from becoming a Magical Girl in the first place. To draw Kyubey away from the girl’s potential, Oriko directs him instead to Yuma, an orphan who is all too eager to gain powers that will enable her to protect herself—powers that will ultimately lead to her own destruction...[19]
Oriko's ability to see into the future led her to commit bloody acts in her efforts to forestall an even greater tragedy later on. But what if Oriko had met Yuma Chitose before she predicted the end of the world? Would she still have chosen to manipulate the young girl if Yuma had been no stranger, but a dear friend? Another week with Madoka?!
Had Madoka Kaname known of the tragic transformation that would mark the end of her Magical-Girl journey, how would her story have unfolded? In this telling of her story, Madoka remembers the outcomes of her previous timelines — but so does Kyubey. Even with the knowledge of her previous lives, can Madoka outmaneuver Kyubey and avoid her fate?[19]
With Madoka Kaname's sacrifice, the hopeless cycle that once bound every Magical Girl to a terrible fate was broken at last. Joan of Arc (Also known as Jeanne d'Arc), is revered as a hero of the Hundred Years’ War and a saint of the Catholic Church. But her leadership and strength of character in her time did not escape the notice of Kyubey, who, even in the fifteenth-century, sought Magical Girl candidates for their valuable energies. With her friends and fellow Magical Girls fighting at her side, Joan fights the English occupiers of France — but will she soon find herself fighting something much more sinister?![19]
Bound by the promise of a wish granted, Magical Girls are charged with battling the wraiths that move unseen through the masses of Mitakihara and devour the passions of their human prey. Mami, Kyoko, and Sayaka are of one mind when it comes to fighting these entities, but their task is hindered by squabbles within the group. Mami fears Sayaka and Kyoko will never see eye to eye, even as a giant wraith unlike any they’ve ever fought threatens to make a feast of them all![19]
Recurring dreams of an unfamiliar girl draw Iroha Tamaki to Kamihama City, the last place she visited before the dreams began. Providing new insight into the world of Madoka Magica, this manga adapts the “Another Story” route from the hit mobile game Magia Record![19]

The stage is set in a burgeoning city called Kamihama.
Magical Girls are drawn there as if by some mysterious force.
Iroha Tamaki is one of them.
