Major Characters

Madoka Kaname

Rose branch bow

Madoka's primary weapon, resembling a rose branch - brown in color, with a pink flower sprouting at the top and a couple of leaves at the bottom. Fires arrows seemingly consisting entirely of pink light and is capable of firing multiple arrows in one shot. When in active use, it grows branches near the top and the flower at the top blooms. When creating a magical arrow the rose burns with a pink flame.

Has also been seen used as a staff in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable based off Madoka's skill tree, though given the game's first person gameplay, no instance of it has directly been shown to the viewer. The attack's animation can be viewed here.

Ultimate bow

Madoka's bow in her Ultimate form, gained as a result of becoming a god. The design is almost the same as her regular bow, but it is longer and more powerful, as it is capable of killing witches with just one arrow.

Bow-shaped water gun

Weapon used by Madoka Kaname (Swimsuit ver.) in Magia Record.

Hagoita shuttlecock

Weapon used by Madoka Kaname (Haregi ver.) in Magia Record.

It is unclear whether the weapon is magical in nature, or simply a regular item that was only enhanced with magic, as this unit displays neither a ring or a Soul Gem, and, based on her Magical Girl story, it is not an outfit Madoka transforms into but rather a store-bought kimono.

Homura Akemi

Sand timer shield

Homura's primary tool. A silver shield attached to her arm above the wrist. Depicted as circular in most media, however in the original 2011 Puella Magi Madoka Magica Manga it was rhomboidal, instead. Allows her to store weaponry and pause time. When turned, transports her back to the day she got released from the hospital, causing a time loop.

Military equipment

Homura doesn't get a weapon with her first wish, which led her to steal and create military equipment to use as her primary weaponry.

Pipe bomb

A simple, yet powerful pipe bomb, assembled by hand by Homura from blueprints found on the internet. Activated by a large button at the top. Used by Homura to finish off witches.

M26 grenade

A post-WW2 American fragmentation grenade, affectionately known as the "lemon grenade", due to its shape. However, the one used by Homura is apparently a flashbang. Likely stolen from a US base in Japan.

Beretta 92FS

A 9mm, semi-automatic pistol from the famous Italian manufacturer, Beretta. Designed for sporting and law enforcement, it is reliable and accurate, making it a popular handgun worldwide. As the 92FS was adopted by the US military as the M9 pistol, it led to speculation that it might have been stolen from a US base in Japan.

M84 stun grenade

A non-lethal grenade, the current standard issue of the US Army. Upon detonation, it emits an intensely loud "bang" over 170 dB and blinding flash of more than one million candela and within 1.5 meters, sufficient to cause immediate (but temporary) flash blindness, deafness, tinnitus, and inner ear disturbance. The one used by Homura apparently functions as an offensive explosive as opposed to a stunning weapon.

Desert Eagle Mark XIX

A very large caliber handgun, chambered for .50AE. It rose to fame by its use in roughly 500 motion pictures and television broadcasts, most notably as The Agents' weapon in the Matrix triology. It is very powerful, on par with most magnum revolvers, but possesses little value on the battlefield: it is very unwieldy, being exceedingly large and heavy, and its magazine hold only seven rounds, due to their large size. Furthermore, it produces a monstrous recoil, making it very difficult to control. Homura's switch from this to the Beretta 92 can be seen as a sign of maturity and weapon expertise. Stolen from Shafuto Industries.

Remington Model 870

A popular pump-action shotgun. Introduced in 1955 as a modern, streamlined, rugged, reliable, and relatively inexpensive shotgun, it has sold over ten million pieces by 2009, making it the best-selling shotgun in history. Its popularity is proven by its use in military and law enforcement in a dozen countries. Stolen from Shafuto Industries.

Howa Type 89

A Japanese assault rifle, chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO, the most common assault rifle ammo. Introduced in 1989 as the standard-issue rifle of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, it is solely used by Japan due to its strict anti-military hardware export laws. It's affectionately known as "Buddy".

FN Minimi

A Belgian 5.56mm light machine gun developed by the venerable manufacturer FN Herstal. Best known by the designation for its American variety, the M249 light machine gun (previously known as Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW)), it is in widespread use across the western world, and has been present in nearly every conflict since its inception. It provides infantry squads with the heavy volume of fire of a machine gun combined with accuracy and portability approaching that of a rifle, while also useful as a mounted weapon both in structures and in vehicles. Homura's particular weapon appears to be a paratrooper version with a 200 round drum. Stolen from a JSDF base.

AT-4

A Swedish anti tank 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot smoothbore weapon. It is recoilless: however, it produces a large back blast that can cause severe burns. The launcher and projectile are manufactured prepacked and issued as a single unit of ammunition with the launcher discarded after a single use. The AT4 requires little training and is quite simple to use, making it suitable for general issue. Used against Walpurgisnacht.

RPG-7

The Ruchnoy Protivotankovyy Granatomyot 7, or RPG-7, is a famous Russian anti-tank shoulder launched RPG. The favorite heavy weapon of the east, it is arguably one of the most recognizable weapons in the world and a poster-child of war worldwide, on par with the fellow Russian AK-47, having been used in nearly every conflict from the Vietnam War. Used against Walpurgisnacht.

L16 mortar

A British smoothbore 81mm mortar. Usable on ground or vehicle-mounted, although the first is falling in disuse, due to the unpleasantness for a squad to carry a 35.3kg piece of equipment, plus ammunition. Likely stolen from a JSDF base. Used against Walpurgisnacht.

Tanker truck

A typical large tanker truck, with a capacity of more than 20000 liters of liquid or gas fuel. Used against Walpurgisnacht.

Type 88 Surface-to-Ship Missile

A truck-mounted battery of 6 anti-ship missiles, in use by the JSDF. Anti-ship missiles are quite large, with long range (usually over 100Km) carrying powerful warheads, but are also designed to carry as much kinetic energy as possible: the purpose of these missiles is not to completely destroy a ship, but to cause critical damage by rupturing the hull near water-level. Used against Walpurgisnacht.

Unknown missiles

A couple of launchers with very large missiles exposed. Unknown model, possibly Harpoon anti-ship missiles. Used against Walpurgisnacht.

C-4

High-yield explosives used to line the entire wall of a large building, resulting in a massive explosion. Used by Homura as a final blow against Walpurgisnacht, but fails to kill her.

Golf driver

A driver, a golf club for long distance shots. Given its size, it's most likely a 1-wood, the club with the largest range in any golfer's bag, generally with a 460cc head. Used by Homura as her main weapon in timeline 2, before she starts making pipe bombs.

Ebony bow

Homura's primary weapon in the universe created by Ultimate Madoka, in honor of her sacrifice. The design is almost the same as Madoka's staff, but the shaft is made of much darker wood, and the gems are purple, akin to her Soul Gem. The shaft is also symmetric, with no adornments except for Madoka's rose.

Fishing rod

A metal fishing rod with a purple base and a Kyubey tackle. Used by Homura Akemi (Swimsuit ver.) in Magia Record.

Kadomatsu-style gatling gun

Weapon used by Homura Akemi (Haregi ver.) in Magia Record.

Doppel Weapons

Staff

A bludgeoning weapon. Used by Homulilly's Doppel form. In her non-eyeglass version, she has Familiars that use smaller staffs.

Gatling gun

See above.

Rocket

Used in Homulilly's non-eyeglass version.

Boat

Used by Homulilly's familiars in her Haregi form.

Mami Tomoe

Magic ribbons

Thick Yellow ribbons that she extends from her clothing or summons out of the air. They can freely extend or constrict.

Bullet strings

Thin strings that grow from expended bullet casings of Mami's muskets, immobilizing enemies.

Restraint ribbons

Special red ribbons reinforced with chains and a bow, with a lock in the center. Used to immobilize enemies.

Guns

Multiple guns Mami creates from her ribbons.

Percussion-lock rifled musket

Mami's primary weapon. Single-shot percussion-lock rifled musket, easily summonable in numbers, fired by hand or remotely, and also usable as a melee weapon. Expended bullets can summon strings to ensnare the foe.

Tiro Finale cannon

An enormous percussion-lock cannon, changes design every time it appears. Produces a powerful blast, used for her finisher "Tiro Finale".

Twin cannons

Two large cannons, used by her in each hand.

Small pistol

A gun summoned from her Soul Gem, without the need to transform. Smaller than her every other weapon. Appears in The Different Story and Wraith Arc.

Sayaka Miki

Cutlass

Sayaka's primary weapon. A silver sword with a curved end, best used for slashing, usually associated with sailors. Summonable in numbers. Most often used for close attacks, but can also be thrown.

Baseball bat

A basic wooden baseball bat. Briefly used by her before she became a Magical Girl.

Enchanted bat

Sayaka's bat infused with Mami's magic for self defense. Grows spikes when swung and can extend a barrier if planted into the ground.

Surfboard

Weapon used by Sayaka Miki (Surfer ver.) in Magia Record.

Calligraphy Brush

Weapon used by Sayaka Miki (Haregi ver.) in Magia Record.

Kyoko Sakura

Multi-jointed spear

Kyoko's primary weapon. While steel hard, it is extremely flexible, and can extend or bend easily. The handle can be broken down into numerous pieces, connected by a chain, allowing her to attack or defend over a wide area. The chain runs along the handle, ending in a heavy ball at the blunt side. The ball's weight is used to easily wrap the chain around foes, restricting them.

Impulse spear

A spear summoned directly from her Soul Gem, without the need to transform. Very quick to summon, and therefore useful in emergencies. Flexible like her regular spear. Used briefly to threaten Kyubey.

Giant spear

A gigantic, scorpion tail-like spear summoned as a last resort. Appears to possess the same properties as her regular spear, but the amount of effort needed to summon it is life-threatening. Summoned as a finishing blow against Oktavia von Seckendorff.

Doppel spear

A double-edged spear. Used by Ophelia's doppel form and Kyoko Sakura (Doppel ver.) in Magia Record.

Beach volleyball

Weapon used by Kyoko Sakura (Swimsuit ver.) in Magia Record.

Nagisa Momoe

Bubble trumpet

Nagisa's primary weapon. A Charlotte themed bubble trumpet, blowing through it creates a multitude of explosive bubbles.

Food tray

A glass food tray used to trap Homulilly's familiars inside of it and eat them, she burps them out as explosive bubbles.

Soda watergun

Weapon used by Nagisa Momoe (Swimsuit ver.) in Magia Record.

Piping bags

Weapon used by Nagisa Momoe (Valentine ver.) in Magia Record.
