Minor Uwasa

Uwasa (ウワサ uwasa, lit. rumors) are a type of monster that appear in the mobile game Magia Record and Magia Exedra. Listed here is information on minor Uwasa. See also Uwasa and Spoiler:Rumors.

Rumor Spreader

The Rumor Spreaders, also sometimes individually called Uwasa-san, are specialized Uwasa that spread the underlying rumors of other Uwasa. Due to its magic, normal people don't see the difference between it and a normal human, helping it spread the rumors. Even Magical Girls who aren't aware of the existence of Uwasa won't notice the difference at first.

Nemu's used this Uwasa for other purposes, such as security in Henthope, a chauffer for Touka, as well as using many of them to shoot muskets, creating many versions of the Saint of Kamihama. The Rumor Spreaders themselves seem to be the most basic form of Uwasa and used to make their other forms.

Minor Main Story Uwasa

These are a series of minor Uwasa that Yachiyo and Iroha defeated in Chapter 7.

Rumor of the Fireman's Mound

A Rumor that appears at a firefighters’ memorial grave site. Anyone who speaks badly of the departed will be attacked by a spooky hand that will try to drag them underground. However, the hand will vanish if you reassure it that “Thanks to you, the town is safe.”

This Rumor may be based off the real-life Hanako-san, a Japanese urban legend about the spirit of a young girl named Hanako who haunts lavatories.

Rumor of the Historical Battle Marker

A Rumor that seems related to the Rumor of the Fireman's Mound, but with key differences. Sanojo Genga was a person who was forced to hold red-hot irons as a trial of ordeal in order to protect the town, and has a memorial set to him in Kamihama. If someone disrespects him, he drags them down into an otherworld. It might be a mistranslation of the Rumor of the Fireman's Mound, but it's difficult to tell.

It appears in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra event The Case Files of the Coordinator 2: A Drifting Narrative. In the event, the Rumor gets combined with a false rumor, the rumor of the Sketchbook of Misfortune, and is turned into Ketch, an entity that drags you into the book as a living sketch if you try to defy your fate as it is seen in the book. A variation of that is Genga, who forces you into the book and then takes you identity, living your life as nothing happened. Both Ketch and the Genga rumor are not actual rumors and are made up by the people of Kamihama.

Rumor of the Headless Bike Gang

A Rumor that appears as an unseen biker gang that causes violence when no-one’s looking. Anyone who sees them will be forced to join their ranks.

It is unknown whether this Uwasa is multiple entities under the same Rumor, or simply one Uwasa alongside the people it kidnapped.

Rumor of the Puzzle Tile Lock

A Rumor that appears when someone rotates the manholes in town. When they are lined up properly, it’ll create a path to the city government’s hidden safe. The path is apparently booby-trapped.

Rumor of the Fashion Monster

A Rumor that appears before confident, dressed up girls. It drags its victims into an alley, and if the Rumor isn’t told it looks stylish, it will strip off the victim’s clothes.

Anime-exclusive Uwasa

These Uwasa appear only in the Magia Record Anime.

Rumor of the Infinite Hospital Bed

Appears in the Magia Record Anime season 2 fifth episode We Won’t Forgive Anyone Anymore. It seemed to work as a rumor focused on keeping people alive while sleeping and absorbing their emotions to use as energy in the Witch Plant.

Interception Amusement Park Fortress Rumor of Chelation Fenthope

Appears in the Magia Record Anime season 2 fifth episode We Won’t Forgive Anyone Anymore. It was the Uwasa of Hotel Fenthope merged with Chelation Land.

Rumor of the Witch Induction Device

Appears in season 2 of the Magia Record Anime. Located on top of Chelation Fenthope, it was a device which summoned the witches within a 100-kilometer range, as a way to summon the powerful witch Walpurgisnacht, so that the Magius can fuse her with Embryo Eve and spread the Doppel system around the world. Ends up getting destroyed by Iroha and Madoka in episode 21, making the witches quickly scatter and evenmaking Walpurgisnacht go back on her track to Mitakihara City.

Event Uwasa

Rumor of the Substitute Street / Rumor of the Crossing Path

Appeared in the Another Daze event story in 2017.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Rumor of the Substitute Street! A long one-way road, they say, where this girl and that girl met one day! Their eyes met: ‘Hello! How do you do?’ And then they parted: ‘So long, farewell.’ And from that day onward… this girl became that, and that girl became this! Once you switch places, what’s real becomes fake! It’s a rumor that ALL the girls in Kamihama City are talking about. Whooo aaare yooou?”

Official translation:
“Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Rumor of the Crossing Path. This girl met another girl on a long one-way road that went on forever! They said ‘Hello!’ once their eyes met, and ‘Goodbye!’ right after! From then on, It’s like she is her and her is she! Fakes become real once their paths cross. Kamihama girls can’t stop talking about it! So, which one are you?”

This Rumor takes the form of a shadowy doppelganger of Kazumi after she encounters it. Its labyrinth was a never-ending long street. Yachiyo had once encountered this Uwasa accidentally, but was eventually able to escape by running away from it without looking back. It later took hold of Kazumi who had ended up in Kamihama accidentally and stole her memories. After it was defeated, Kazumi still didn't have any memories due to never having had any in the first place.

Rumor of the Destiny Chocolate

Appeared in the A la Carte Valentine event story in 2018.

A Rumor that appears as a chocolate shop. The shop gives out egg-shaped chocolates that represent the fate of their owner. Variant of the familiars of the Unknown Witch are summoned to steal the eggs, causing disastrous consequences. The Rumor seems to manifest as a talking chocolate egg. Despite the Uwasa being dead, during Bittersweet AI Memory, Iroha and Ui eat the leftover destiny chocolates from girls who'd entered there before and become stronger.

Rumor of FM Kamihama

Appeared in the FM Kamihama Holy Radio Station event story in 2018.

“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Rumor of FM Kamihama! A fun radio show with poppin’ tunes, pleasantly refreshing in your Kamihama life! It’s always by your side, whether it be morning, working hours, or even late at night. But if you try touching that dial, you’ll get a full-voltage zap! Its wiggly radio waves jump through dimensions, sometimes even reaching quite close to home! It’s a rumor that ALL the listeners in Kamihama City are talking about. Staaaay tuned!”

This Rumor appears to be similar to the Rumor of the Breakup Staircase, but has a cartoon radio dish attached to the top. The Rumor is possibly not canon, due to appearing in a Magia Report event.

FM Kamihama makes a cameo in the Magia Record Anime in Episode 8, though it is unclear whether it is an Uwasa or just a mundane late-night radio show.

Rumor of the Happy Stamp

Appeared in the Alina Is Coming to Town event story in 2018. While Alina kept trying to test out and use the Rumor of the Fur God to steal people's life force, the Happy Stamp ends up ruining her plans and making her seem like a local Christmas hero instead.

Fan tranlation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Happy Stamps, and the rumor thereof! During that most special of seasons when everyone’s happy, these happily-stamped Christmas cards will suddenly appear in the hands of anyone with a dangerous heart! A series of very happy accidents are in store for anyone who receives them– as well as anyone who happens to be nearby! It’s a rumor that ALL the reindeer in Kamihama are talking about. Happy, happy holida~ys!”

Official translation:
“Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Uwasa of the Happy Stamp! ’Tis the season to be jolly! Those in possession of a troubled heart may find a Christmas card come to them, stamped with a cheerful print! Anyone who receives it will end up dragging everyone around them into a series of happy accidents. A hot rumor among Kamihama’s reindeers! Happy, Happy Holidays!”

Rumor of the Little Old Cocoa Shop

Appeared in the A La Carte Valentine 2nd event story in 2019.

“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Little Old Cocoa Shop, and the rumor thereof! It’s a wholesale shop selling pure cocoa mass, tucked away in a quiet corner of town. Their signature ingredient is possibility, and their main suppliers are unwitting girls! They swipe away your future potential, and before you know it, it’ll be lined up for sale! So if you’re hearing this, you’d better be careful! Valentine’s is soon, so you’d better be careful! They say if your stolen possibility gets sold, you’ll have nothing but crummy Valentines for the rest of your days. It’s a rumor that ALL the local girls are talking about. Urgh, that’s the worst!”

Alternate translation:
Have you heard? Who told you? The rumor of the Chocolate Shoppe No. Zero.
This little hidden shop is a baking chocolate distributor!
It’s full of possibilities, as supplied by young ladies!
Without them knowing, it was stolen away and lined up to be sold at the store! So look out, everybody! Until Valentine’s Day, watch your back! It’s a rumor among girls that anyone whose stolen possibilities are sold are doomed to aaaalways have a bad time on Valentine’s Day. How awful!

Rumor of the Stardust Time Viewer

Briefly re-summoned by Nemu during the Cherry Blossom Dreams event story as part of Eternal Sakura, Touka, Ui and Iroha’s tour of Kamihama.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from?
The Stardust Time Viewer, and the rumor thereof!
Your dreams, your hopes, or what your fate has in store…
The oh-so-interesting hidden future that just about everyone wants to know!
If you put your wish into a message and send it off into the sky,
you’ll see a vision of your future, no matter what it may involve!
But you shouldn’t take it as a fact. It’s just the future that can be seen right now!
And your or her or anyone’s will could change it, just like that.
It’s a rumor that ALL the girls in Chuuou Ward are talking about!
Oooh, I wanna seee~!”

Official translation:
“Have you heard? Has anyone told you?
The Uwasa of the Stardust Time Viewer!
Everyone wants to know the future, to see
their dreams, their hopes, their fate.
Send all of your messages to it,
and it will show you what you want to see!
But you mustn’t believe what you see. It is only the future for right now!
It could change at any moment, through someone else’s will, or your own.
A hot Rumor among the girls in Chuo Ward!
I wanna see!”

Rumor of the Rarity Star

Appears in the Magia Record Story Kamihama Twinkle Rarity Star event in 2019. It is a joke Uwasa for April Fools poking fun at Magia Record's Rarity Star system.

Rumor of the Tangled Shrine

Appears in the Where is Ashley Taylor’s Japanese Horror!? event in 2020.

Fan translation:
“Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Rumor of the Tangled Ruins! It’s got lots of entangled doors, and everyone trying to follow the matching ribbon is getting tangled into knots! The doors are just waiting to be opened!

Place scissors beneath your bed and drift off into deep sleep, and you’ll be at the Tangled Ruins in no time.

If you snip open little doors and rip open the big door, you’ll get something great as a prize! It’s the hottest rumor among crafts lovers!

HELP EACH OTHER OUT!”

Rumor of the Cemetery Banquet Feast

Appears in the The Great Banquet that Transcends Time event in 2021.

“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Cemetery Banquet, and the rumor thereof! Fated rivals, arguing friends– if you want everyone to get along, then this Rumor is for you! Anyone who reads its invitation will be guided to the pre-banquet proving grounds. If– and only if– you can make the banquet lively, then you pass! And you’ll be invited up to Paradise, complete with kindly parting words. But if you plan to participate, you’d better take great care! If you fall short of proving yourself, you’ll literally fall into the underworld, to boot. It’s a rumor that ALL of the temple’s supporters are talking about. C’mon now, let’s liven things up!”

A Rumor encountered by the Kamihama Magia Union, Tokime Tribe, Promised Blood, and the OG series cast members in the 4th anniversary event story. Manifests due to an Uwasa-san from Arc 1 wandering through a Mirrors portal and accidentally hopping forward in time. As per usual for time-traveling Mirrors portals, the resulting events are undone once the portal is destroyed.

After receiving old-fashioned letters inviting them to a banquet at Suitoku Temple, each group is unconsciously drawn to participate, with the Rumor’s influence initially preventing anyone from suspecting that something is wrong. Even after finding several of their members trapped in the Rumor’s Labyrinth, it proves extremely difficult for anyone to properly fight back.

The Rumor greets its “attendees” in a kind, heavenly voice, casually “forgives” (brushes off) their attempts to break its rules, and gives gentle encouragement (plus painfully-gentle critique) as they resort to performing various party tricks to satisfy it. Once they satisfy the Rumor by setting aside both their pride and their mutual animosities, it escorts them to the top of its pagoda in a giant, golden hand… where they literally pass on to the afterlife.

Madoka’s team comes to the rescue shortly thereafter, with Madoka managing to call Iroha back from the dead thanks to an emergency revision by Nemu. Being revived frees Iroha from the Rumor’s influence, allowing her and Madoka to successfully break its rules and defeat it to save everyone else. Before it goes, it congratulates them on a job well done, and shares the “parting words” they would’ve received in the afterlife– which, in their case, are words of encouragement from the Law of Cycles herself. (Perhaps because of its implied awareness of the Law of Cycles, the Rumor also seems to mistake this universe’s Madoka for an extension of the Law.)

Rumor of the Dreaming Mirror

Appears in Only Dreamers ~ The Fable Watches the Dream of the Girl event in 2021.

“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Dreaming Mirror, and the rumor thereof! Oh, if only I could go back in time to that day… Oh, if only I could do it all over again…! Well, if you’re the lucky winner of our lottery this week, then you’re officially invited to a dream of that ‘what-if’ world! The entry fee? Priceless! Just pass a test of your heart, and you’ll get a special chance to make your own ‘what-if’ come true! But non, non, non! Just one word of advice: if you flunk out, you’ll never, ever wake up again! It’s a rumor that ALL the fine young ladies in Hokuyou Ward are talking about. Mirror, mirror, on the wall…!”

A Rumor encountered by Kush Irina, Yukika Nanase and Ikumi Makino in Kush’s debut event story. Shortly after receiving a mysterious compact mirror as that week’s “lottery winner”, Kush finds herself pulled into a dream world that adapts itself to her own memories and experiences. In her case, the dream world and its “trial of the heart” are largely drawn from Kush’s recollection of a book series that she and her late Puella Magi mentor, Aneka, enjoyed.

With Yukika and Ikumi likewise pulled into the dream to act as her traveling companions, Kush follows the book’s plot to gather memories belonging to both her and Aneka, in the hopes of getting a chance to properly say goodbye to her. Despite seemingly failing the “test” once, Kush comes to a personal realization about which “Aneka” she wants to say goodbye to, succeeds in escaping the dream, and is rewarded with a brief “what-if” version of the pair’s first encounter. (A side conversation between Touka and Nemu implies that the Rumor uses energy from the “priceless” entry fee– a large amount of Grief Seeds, in Kush’s case– as fuel to manifest the “what-if” in reality.)

Rumor of the Green-Eyed Coward

Appears in Little Bird’s Star event in 2022.

“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The Green-Eyed Coward, and the rumor thereof! Sure, they have dreams and ideals of their own, but they can’t do anything when *left* on their own. Just a no-spine coward running along other people’s rails! Some day, they want to be the very thing they admire, but they’ve already given up and told themself it can’t happen. An ambivalent outcast– but wuh-oh! Their one strong point is how jealous they can get! Once envy sets in, it’s curtains for you. You’ll get cursed and knocked unconscious! What a pest! It’s a rumor that ALL of Kamihama’s elites are talking about. Noooo backbiting!”

A Rumor encountered by Kuroe and the Mikazuki Villa team during Kuroe’s debut event story. Possesses Kuroe (who Nemu selected as a suitable match for it) and manifests as a clone of her to attack people she feels jealous of. After some conversations with Iroha, Kuroe briefly thinks about her future goals without immediately comparing herself to others; this prompts the Rumor to attack her, after which it’s defeated by the group.

Rumor of the Ripper Girl

Appears in the Rumors in Disguise event. She was likely based from the rumors of Suzune Amano from Hohzuki and Kamihama.

Fan translation:
“Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Rumor of the Ripper Girl! Wander into a dark back alley, and an echoing bell reaches your ears! Ring, ring, ring. That which was lost echoes out, for everyone to hear. An echoing bell, ring, ring. Ring, ring, an echoing bell. Where oh where oh where did you go? I cannot find hide nor hair. You there, could you please tell me a name? Oh, but is that name really true? If not, I’ll rip and tear! I’ll tear your memories to shreds, so you’d better beware! No, no, no, that’s even worse! Not giving an answer is even worse! In that case, you’re the Ripper Girl too! Welcome aboard, nameless and lost girl! From now on, you’re the Ripper Girl too! They say the lost name is right there in plain sight. It’s the hottest rumor that the girls lost in abandoned ruins are talking about! Whooo aaam I?”

She walked around dark alleys accompanied by a bell sound. She would catch young girls and ask them for a name. If the girl gave their own name, or even someone else's name, the Ripper would use her blade to rip away some of their memories and leave. If a girl refused to answer, or if she said she didn't know, the Ripper would assimilate them and take their appearance, even switching between a few people she'd taken.

However, if the Ripper asked for a name with the new identity she'd taken, if the girl caught gives the name of that person, they will be freed from being the Ripper. Eventually, Haruka figured out that the Ripper's name was the bell sound she'd been making, so "Belle", or "Suzunone" (涼音) in Japanese, and was able to set her free, which created the Rumor of the May Bells of Happiness.

When she ripped away the memories from Matsuri, she actually removed the false memories implanted on her by her sister, Kagari Hinata, which is how she was able to remember Suzune's name and save her.

Rumor of the May Bells of Happiness

Appears in the Memorable Flower event in 2021.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? The May Bells of Happiness, and the rumor thereof! Once Miss Ripper’s all done ripping, and finds that which she lost, a beautiful string of bells will burst into full bloom! And they’ll share their happy scent with poor, poor, lonely you. Just relax and sink into the scent, and it’ll pull in this girl and that girl to build your very own ideal world! For any other girl who gets in the way, it’s bye-bye: back to that crummy reality! And for you, in all your happiness, it’s bye-bye: away from that crummy reality! They say that once you get hooked, there’s no going back. It’s a rumor that EVERYONE snoozing on the rooftops is talking about. Oh, what a nice smell~!”

When Kagari went to investigate the strange magical signature in Kamihama after the Ripper Girl assimilated Suzune and the others, she encounters what became of the Ripper Girl, which had lead to the creation of this Uwasa. It asked her what would make her happy, and after finding out how she missed Tsubaki, it created a dream world where it pulled the consciousness of Tsubaki from the past, as well as present day Matsuri, Suzune, as well as normal people who were nearby, including Masara, Kokoro and Aimi. Their bodies remained in the real world, but were unmovable by outside forces and the more time passed, the more they faded away.

Inside the dream world, everyone's memories were rewritten, which the Uwasa accomplished by utilizing Kagari's magic, and it fabricated a happy life for everyone. However, if someone in the dream world touched certain Lily of the Valley, or May Bell flowers, signified by a very strong smell and protected by what appeared to be Witches, the flower would appear withered to them and they'd gain some memories of the real world. The Uwasa even blocked out people's senses when someone who had touched the flowers tried to reveal any of the information they'd learned, and later even eject them from the dream world altogether.

The exception to this was Tsubaki, who would hear Kagari's grief as a child when she made her wish, as well as the people outside trying to break them out of the dream. Once Tsubaki herself had found all the flowers, then defeated the Uwasa, that by that point had taken her form, the dream ended and she was returned to the past, with little memory of what had happened.

Similar to the Ripper Girl Rumor, which it originated from, this Uwasa's name also resembles Suzune's, as the Lily of the Valley flowers are called Suzuran (スズラン), which roughly mean orchid bells.

………… Rumor

Appears in the Bittersweet AI Memory event in 2021. This Uwasa took a form similar to Sana Futaba and was formed accidentally when Nemu tried to upload the Uwasa from her book to a digital network.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? …………, and the rumor thereof! She tried to steal some magic to meet that girl she wants to meet, but happened to be greeted by a totally different world outside! So she can’t make heads or tails of who she wanted to meet at all! When she senses a desire to meet someone, she’ll peek out from her digital world, but since she can’t tell who ‘that girl’ is, she’ll kidnap any random soul she sees! They’ll get sent back eventually, but the whole time until then, she broadcasts her lonely anxiety to them in a scaaaary dream! How tough! How tragic! How totally out of hand! ‘The girl she wants to meet again’ doesn’t actually exist, and ‘her feelings of wanting to meet her again’ can’t be fulfilled… so the whole thing’s just going nowhere fast! It’s a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. What a buzzy broadcast!”

Mr. Purrs-A-Lot the Kitten Rumor

Appears in the Bittersweet AI Memory event in 2021.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? Mr. Purrs-a-lot the Kitten, and the rumor thereof! He’s a been popular little idol since way back in the day, showing up on TV, in books, and even as a stuffed toy! Today, much like every day, he’s playing in town with friends like Curlymagne, Wonderfur, and Darkrow too. But you’d better watch out just a teensy bit… when he’s with Piggles or Moortimer, he’ll blurt out things that can jab people right in the heart. It’s a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. Purr, purr, meoooow!”

Piggles the Pig Rumor

Appears in the Bittersweet AI Memory event in 2021.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? Piggles the Pig, and the rumor thereof! He’s Mr. Purrs-a-lot’s big-stomached friend, who lives in harmony with everyone in Animal Village! No matter what meal it is, as long as it’s got pickles, he’ll forget all about his full belly and gobble it right up! He’s also spacey, cheerful, and the life of everyone’s party, but when he’s with Moortimer, he’ll start nagging people about everything they’re no good at. It’s a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. Oink, grunt, boooo!!”

Moortimer the Cow Rumor

Appears in the Bittersweet AI Memory event in 2021.

Fan translation:
“My, have you heard? Who’d you hear it from? Moortimer the Cow, and the rumor thereof! He’s Mr. Purrs-a-lot’s strong yet gentle friend, who lives in harmony with everyone in Animal Village! He’s warm and kind when he plays with everyone, and really popular with little kids! But he’s actually just a teensy bit weak-hearted and stressed– so when Piggles chews someone out, he’ll join in and bully them too! It’s a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. Moo, moo, moooo-rgh!!”

Rumor of the Chaotic Villain

Appears in Magia Record Story Memory Drops event in 2023.

Nemu gave this brief summary regarding this Uwasa: "The Rumor of a girl who manipulates people at will via suggestion and goes against everything, built on resentment towards society and the world... but with a secret motive underlying it all."

This Uwasa was made by Mikoto when she took over Nemu's body. Mikoto made it with the intent to bring Hanna Sarasa back to life, however it only acted like Hanna by Mikoto's own records, as can be seen when she had the power of Suggestion instead of Hanna's original Overwrite magic. Additionally, due to its nature, Nanaka Tokiwa had a bad feeling immediately after she came into existence.

Rumor Hanna gained energy and power by creating, encouraging and absorbing malice from those around her. After Nemu cut her off from herself as an energy source, she started to cause and absorb more malice from those around her, as well as consume her own memories, only held off by Mikoto transplanting the malice onto herself.

She could transform into Hanna's civilian form as well, and she appeared like a normal girl to everyone around, even having held a few jobs regularly. While she didn't have all of Hanna's memories, especially the ones Mikoto didn't tell her about, she was willing to sacrifice herself for Mikoto.

Initially, she had the memories of the real Hanna Sarasa, but Nemu made sure to wipe them from her after they escaped, in an attempt to have her turn against Mikoto. However, she remained loyal to Mikoto, and later, Rumor Hanna was able to receive memories of Hanna which she shouldn't have known about once more. This could suggest at an assimilation between the original Hanna and the rumor.

What remained of this Uwasa, after Mikoto and Hanna's death, was destroyed when Nemu tore its page from her book.

Rumor of the Endless Mirrors

See also: Rumor Mikoto.

Appears primarily in the Magia Record event Memory Drops in 2023, this Uwasa was made when Mikoto took over Nemu's body. It was separate from its labyrinth and its persona was dormant, which allowed Mikoto's persona to have primary control of the Uwasa's body, and it wasn't until Mikoto ran out of energy that the Uwasa began to awaken.

The Uwasa's underlying rumor dictates that any Magical Girl who searches for Mikoto and Hanna will be taken into its labyrinth, which resembled the original Endless Mirrors. The victims are taken there by familiars and the her labyrinth was designed to be without exit or possibility of escape. Iroha was only able to escape and let others out due to being gifted Mikoto's Mirrors powers to link space and time.

Mikoto referred to the Uwasa as "Mirror Mikoto," with its appearance being that of a dark version of Rumor Mikoto. It could create copies of itself, and these familiars could be employed for various tasks, such as attacking or searching for certain objects. They were, however, unable to speak and, like other Uwasa, drained the energy of people around them.

This Uwasa was created to have the same memories as Mikoto herself, but as it was cut off from Nemu as an energy source, the more magic she used, the more the Uwasa would burn through the original Mikoto's memories. Once the Uwasa's persona had awakened to a significant portion, Mikoto allowed it to take control of the Uwasa's body, but since Mikoto had transplanted Rumor Hanna's Suggestion magic onto herself, it wasn't able to take full control. Instead, Mikoto maintained control of the Uwasa's mind, and the two reached a brief, and more powerful, black and white form.

After the death of Mikoto, Hanna and their Uwasa, Nemu tore off their pages from her book. This also inexplicably lead to Alina regaining the Uwasa of the Fur God, but the reason, or whether there is any correlation, is unknown.

Rumor of Parallel Memories

A Rumor seen in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra, which is the particular focus rumor of The Case Files of the Coordinator 1: The Many-Worlds Interpretation Poesy as well as multiple Magical Girl Side Stories.

In order to activate the Rumor, a person needs to have a faulty memory, or what is otherwise known as the Mandela effect. By praying with an item they have the false memory with, they are sent into a dream world that fits with their prayer. However, if they lose the item, they are trapped in the dream forever.

"Have you heard? Who told you? The Rumor of Parallel Memories. Wrong color, wrong shape, wrong name? Maybe our false memories are actually recollections from a parallel universe! If you get an item of proof and pray to the central tower, you'll be transported to a parallel Kamihama! BUT! It's a dream world! If you lose the item you'll spend the rest of your days lost. All the Kamihama occult lovers are talking about it! A parallel universe!"

Rumor of the Miniature Dollhouse

A Rumor seen in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra, which is the particular focus rumor of The Case Files of the Coordinator 3: Cozy Cosmology.

The Rumor starts with a dollhouse being delivered to a Magical Girl. On opening it, the Magical Girl and any nearby people are sucked into the world of the Dreamer, losing one thing that is the most precious to them, and the memory of it, in the process. In order to escape, the victims need to complete the Dreamer's challenge, working their way to the end of the challenge and looping back to the start if they fail to complete it, losing their memories of their experiences and starting over.

"Have you heard? Has anyone told you? The Rumor of the Miniature Dollhouse. A package delivered anonymously! Those unfortunate enough to be present when it's opened enter a fictional world! The price? An important connection! There is only one rule in this world, the Dreamer's dreamworld! Perfect for escaping reality! Yes, there's just one catch! If the Dreamer loses to herself, everyone remains trapped there! All the Shinsei Ward Magical Girls are talking about it. Run forever!"

Other Entity Rumors

These are rumors which describe things, or entities which already exist, as these were likely not created by Nemu herself.

Rumor of the Invisible Girl

This rumor is told by Rena to Iroha in Episode 8 after she asks her if she knows of any particular rumors. It describes Sana Futaba.

In the beginning she was just a girl who nobody ever really noticed. Whenever someone spoke to her, all she would do is give a strange smile, so little by little over time people stopped trying to talk to her at all and after that she started to fade away until she became completely invisible. She could be standing in front of a crowd and no one would notice her. No one acknowledged her, as ethereal as air.

Rumor of the Radio Wave Girl

This rumor is told by Tsuruno to Iroha in Episode 8. It describes the previous victims caught in the Uwasa of the Anonymous AI, including Sana. Notably, as Sana wasn't in distress inside the Endless Solitude, after she was caught, people heard her laugh instead of previous victims' cries.

In the middle of Chuo Ward there's a tall radio tower that's constantly transmitting TV and radio waves, but if you stand under the tower and put your phone by your ear, apparently you can hear a girl's voice. People have heard crying, and also things like "help me" and "get me out of here!".

Rumor of Walpurgisnacht

This Rumor was told at the end of Magia Record Episode 18: We Won't Forgive Anyone Anymore, as Touka and Nemu confirmed they'd gotten the attention of Walpurgisnacht. Whether it was an actual Uwasa which affected Walpurgisnacht in some way is unknown, however this iteration of her does have some differences from others. Additionally, the rumor speaks of Walpurgisnacht "when summoned by the power of the Uwasa," so it is likely this empowered Walpurgisnacht in some way, as compared to other versions of her.

The mandala surrounding her had different colors compared to every other iteration of Walpurgisnacht, making it seem somewhat like the storm around her through a Doppler weather radar. Additionally, as it is being described, the artwork, as well pendulum from Homura's room appears, but instead it also has Devil Homura's salamander near its blade. Upon its arrival in Mitakihara, it is also accompanied by giant rooster familiars which shatter like glass when attacked. These familiars weren't seen before in any of her previous appearances.

Did you see it? Did you see her? The greatest, most terrible Witch, the most powerful Witch of them all. If summoned by the power of the Uwasa, she would turn the land to ash and the skies to empty void, and civilization itself would cease to exist. That's what everyone in the Wings of the Magius says! All hope will die on this day, and on this day a new hope will be born. Despair itself was created for this Witch. For Magical Girls to change their fate!

The Rumor of the Nighthawk

A rumor described at the end of the Last Bird's Hope event in 2024. This is likely not an actual Rumor that Nemu creates, but rather a stylized description of Kuroe, or Nighthawk.

Fan translation:
In an era where the rough peak has been rounded off, and become the mother of the pebbles in the garden, and the sprouts that sprang up yesterday have been transformed into a magnificent shrine...
"Hey, hey! Have you heard?"
"I saw it, even!"
"The rumored Nighthawk!"
"Huh... Isn't that the thing about that terrifying runaway Doppel?"
"Excuse me?! Nighthawk is an apostle from time immemorial who's graced our poor souls with the legend of the Magia Record, which was born long ago, as well as the story of how the Magical Girls of this world were saved– and the story of a single girl."
"Nuh-uh; there's no way that's true. Isn't it, like, some kinda bird monster?"
"No? She's an actual human being. She even told me her name!"
"It's the same as the name of the faith she's devoted to:"

「×××イ××」
"××××× IR×××"

Not continue. This is the last.

Rumor of the Underground Empire

Rumor of the Glimpse of the Future

A rumor of unknown status mentioned in Mitama's office in Magia Record Episode 4. Kaede Akino mentions a rumor where one can catch a glimpse of their future on the TV at 4:44:44 am. It is unknown if this is an Uwasa, or just a normal rumor. In real-life this is an urban legend of sorts, referenced in many games and other media.

Rumor of the Sketchbook of Misfortune

A rumor that was created by the people of Kamihama City because of the Sketchbook of Misfortune. The rumor was that a person would see their fate inside of the notebook and, if they tried to avoid it, they would be caught and forced inside of the sketchbook as a living sketch by Ketch. It is the focus rumor of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra Event Story The Case Files of the Coordinator 2: A Drifting Narrative.

In truth, the sketchbook was created by a Magical Girl who "wished to see hope". After losing her own hope, because she was forbidden from being with the person she loved, due to them living on opposite sides of the city, she began drawing hopeful scenes of the future. She filled the sketchbook with images of people overcoming the divide between East and West Kamihama. However, others misunderstood her drawings and took them as ominous warnings, and the girl would take her own life. She left behind her sketchbook, her diary, her studio, and her grieving sister. All of the scenes she drew, which were misinterpreted as bad omens, were actually hopeful drawings of people bridging the gap between east and west Kamihama.

Ketch, also called Genga, is a twisted interpretation of the Rumor of the Historical Battle Marker. Anyone that Ketch caught was actually caught by Genga because they disrespected him.
