Doppel Description

The Doppel of transformation.
Its form is a glass slipper.
The master of this emotion uses its power to their utmost content. This Doppel enhances the transforming ability of its possessor manyfold, allowing her to transform into someone else for a certain amount of time. The result of this transformation is truer to the ideal image of the person than the actual person it is based on. However, because the transformation is so perfect, if it is used too much, the user is likely to lose track of their own identity. It turns the user into the ideal state of its target, so it sometimes appears slightly different from the original.

|
Rena and Momoko Togame defeat a witch. Afterward, the two decide to get something to eat. Rena thinks she's happy to have someone like Momoko. She used to think it was alright being alone, but finds it's better to have a friend. Sometime later, Rena is annoyed that Momoko is late for a live concert they were going to. Momoko calls Rena and tells her something came up. After Rena learns Momoko's at the seaside park, Rena tells Momoko to wait and heads over there. When Rena arrives, Momoko says that Rena is scarier than a witch. Momoko explains that she was on her way to a concert when she found another magical girl fighting a witch. Rena correctly guesses that Momoko played the hero. The magical girl Momoko helped claims she's not really good at fighting witches, but Momoko reassures her. Rena notes that Momoko can get along with anyone, unlike Rena. Momoko is about to ask the magical girl something, but Rena cuts her off. Rena says she was looking forward to going to the concert, and thinks she was actually looking forward to hanging out with Momoko. Momoko says she'll make it up to Rena and apologizes to the other magical girl. Rena and Momoko depart. Rena thinks she just wanted to forget the girl who's name she didn't know. However, on another day Momoko tells Rena she met that magical girl again and got her name, Kaede Akino. Rena thinks the name is cute. Momoko asks Rena if they can invite Kaede to be part of their team, believing it's fate. Momoko also thinks Kaede is a good girl who could easily get into trouble. Rena thinks that Kaede is probably the complete opposite of herself and spaces out. When Momoko snaps her out of it, Rena says that she doesn't know what to think about having another member for their team. In fact, Rena wonders why Momoko would suddenly do something like that. She hates the idea, but admits she hates herself more for thinking like that. Rena decides to just pretend Momoko's question never happened, hoping that things wouldn't change. One day, Momoko invites Rena to a cafe. Rena feels relieved that she was invited, as she believes Momoko isn't forcing herself to be with Rena. However, she is surprised to find that Kaede is with Momoko. Momoko says she still wants Kaede to join their team, but Rena said she hasn't agreed to it. Momoko thinks Rena has no reason to disagree. This causes Rena to blurt out she's against Kaede joining. She says that Kaede is dumb and will just hold them back. Kaede apologizes. Momoko tells Rena to knock it off, saying she wouldn't normally say hurtful things like that. Rena says they can just pair up themselves and runs off. She thinks that Momoko is wrong and that this is her true self. Rena thinks that her true self is short-tempered and annoying. She thinks she's now alone again, but she's used to it. In a flashback, Rena is shown being bullied at school. She narrates that she's been like this since she was little. Every time she transferred to a new school, the students would think she's rude or unapproachable. While Rena insisted it wasn't painful, it still made her cry. It's explained that Rena's father had a job which made him transfer all over the place, causing her family to move around a lot. He ended up switching jobs because he felt bad about making Rena and her little brother transfer schools all the time. In fact, Rena's mother had to start working part-time, since her father's new job pays less. Despite her continuing problems at school, Rena never told her parents anything since she thinks they're working hard already. As it turns out, Rena had something which helped her get through the day. After letting her brother watch his television show, she watched a DVD of a live idol concert. Rena narrates that female idols were the only thing that helped her. It started when she saw footage of a live concert on television. When she saw everyone look like they were having fun, Rena could forget about her awful life. She says the idols and her songs gave her courage. One day Rena headed home, but was caught by other students. They teased her because she wasn't in a club. Rena decided to hurry home and listen to a show she recorded the day before, with a new song. As she listened to it, Rena thought about the bullying she went through. She suddenly thought the idols were the exact opposite of herself. Rena narrates that the more she watched the idols, the more it reminded her of her pathetic and hated self. However, she wasn't jealous of the idols as she felt those things were her own fault. Even Rena despised herself. She wonders if she could just throw everything about herself away. That's when Kyubey arrived and offered a contract. Her wish was "I just... I just... I want to be someone else... Give me the power to turn into other people.” Rena notes that while she got the power to turn into someone else, she never really changed at all. Rena thinks she ruined everything with Momoko and wonders if she should disappear from the world. Later, she starts to get text messages from Momoko. In the messages (which are dated "20XX/XX/XX"), Momoko asks where Rena is. It's revealed Rena has ignored Momoko for a week, and thinks even Momoko would be sick of her. Suddenly she spies Momoko and Kaede. She thinks they really belong together, and decides to give up and go back to being by herself. As it turns out, Momoko and Kaede are looking for Rena. Later, Rena fights a witch by taking Momoko's form. She wonders how Momoko thought of her, thinking she might have just been a busybody who had no choice but to stay with Rena. Rena quickly decides that becoming Momoko won't help her understand Momoko. Rena says she's an idiot, and lets the witch attack her. "Let's reset this life". Suddenly Rena is saved by Kaede, much to her surprise. Momoko arrives as well. Rena asks why Kaede would help her, and tells Kaede she's an idiot. Rena thinks that even though Kaede saved her, she just insulted Kaede and blames herself again. She believes that whenever she looks at Kaede, she is reminded of how dark her shadow is. Rena then tells Kaede that she's an idiot so she shouldn't push herself. Rena then runs off. A week passes, and this time Rena has simply shut her phone off. She's scared that she'll see the screen has no notifications on it. Suddenly Rena sees Momoko and unable to hide, transforms into Kaede. Rena berates herself for doing such a stupid action. Momoko then thanks "Kaede" for helping her look for Rena. "Kaede"'s reaction causes Momoko to wonder if she feels sick. Momoko then invites the disguised Rena to a cafe. Once there, Rena wonders why Momoko would still try to look for her. "Kaede" tells Momoko the should just give up searching for Rena. She say that Rena is harsh and selfish, and there are better people Momoko can team up with. Momoko tells her to knock it off, and say it ticks her off to hear someone badmouthing Rena. Momoko then apologizes, saying she understands why Kaede would dislike Rena. However, she believes Rena didn't mean the things she said. She claims Rena isn't the kind of person who would purposely try to hurt someone else. She reveals she likes Rena, who's awkward but tries her best as opposed to everyone who just puts up appearances and lives without caring about anything. As Rena mentally protests, Momoko says she wishes Rena could get along with her and Kaede. She then asks "Kaede" if she wants the same thing, except she calls "Kaede" Rena. Momoko explains that only Rena would put that much sugar in her black tea. She also says that the way "Kaede" acted was a giveaway, since Momoko's best friends with Rena. Momoko then predicts that Rena will say it isn't sweet at all, and says that she's just like Rena. Rena changes back into herself and starts to cry. Momoko says Rena should just let her spoil her more. Rena apologizes for being jealous of Kaede. Later, Rena, Momoko and Kaede fight a witch. As Kaede wonders what to do, Rena tells her to hurry and kill it already. Afterward, Momoko praises their teamwork, and Rena apologizes to Kaede for calling her stupid. She admits she was just jealous of Kaede and thanks her for saving her life earlier. Rena then tries to ask Kaede if she wants to join her team, but then suddenly asks if Kaede will become Rena's servant. Momoko chides her, but Kaede says she'll be happy to. Rena is pleased, and Momoko figures that this is just like her. Rena wonders if Kaede really is a member as opposed to a servant. |

Rena is attending a Christmas Party at Mikazuki Villa. However she soon got into a debate with Felicia Mitsuki over whether or not Santa Claus was real. At first Rena had insisted he was real while Felicia believed that he was fake, but halfway through their argument they had flipped sides and now Iroha Tamaki can’t tell who is arguing about what. Felicia is insisting he’s real because she saw someone who looked just like him and her gut is telling her he’s real. Rena replies that there are plenty of people who look like Santa and, to prove her point, she steps out into another room and changes into her Mrs. Claus outfit. Rena says that Santa isn’t real because what Felicia thought was Santa was really Rena all along. Felicia just stares at her for a moment before saying no, she’s Rena. Rena tries to explain that she didn’t mean that she herself was Santa, just that Felicia must have seen someone dressed up like him the way she was dressed up. Felicia says no, she’s wrong which only causes Rena to frown at her further. Iroha points out that Rena just admitted to being Santa which means that she admits that Santa must exist. Rena points and makes a triumphant face at Felicia before Momoko points out that Rena had already switched to the opposing argument. Rena realizes that she just proved herself wrong and hangs her head. That’s when Kaede points out that the outfit she’s wearing is the same one she wore for the cake shop. When they were given the costumes, the guy at the cake shop had let them keep it if they really wanted to, which means that Rena must have liked the outfit after all. Rena says she only kept it because the guy said they could have it. Momoko and Kaede point out that Rena not only kept the costume, but also brought it with her to the Christmas party. Rena tries to defend herself but they instead call her really brave for wearing an outfit that shows off her big boobs like that. Rena gets irritated with them but Felicia thinks her outfit looks fancy and cool. Yachiyo and the others come out from the kitchen with food and are surprised to see Rena dressed up like that. Kaede tries to explain that there’s an explanation for it but by now Rena has given up on that and instead reaches for some of the food.
Rena, Kaede, and Momoko had come down to the beach over summer vacation. They were having so much fun they soon lost track of time and the sun had begun to set. Rena wants to grab one last shaved ice before they head out. When she gets near the food stand, someone nearby with a microphone began to announce the beginning of Sayuki Fumino’s Guerilla live show. Rena HAS to go to this show and she asks the guy how much the tickets are. He tells her the tickets are free, but only on the condition that she wear a swimsuit. Rena says absolutely not, which prompts Kaede to ask her why she would turn down her favorite idol’s show. Rena says she’s too embarrassed to be seen by her favorite idol in her swimsuit, but Momoko assures her that SayuSayu isn’t the kind of girl who would say bad things to her fans. Rena shakes her head and replies that SayuSayu would definitely compliment it. With that said, Momoko tells her she should definitely go since she looks like the cutest girl in the world today. Rena gets her nerves up and heads to the show. It turns out the reason that they were required to wear swimsuits was because they sprayed water all over the audience during the concert, which left Rena soaking wet. Afterwards, they had a meet-and-greet with SayuSayu. Rena’s heart was pounding through her chest as she finally approached her favorite idol and held out her hand. Sayuki shook it before calling her adorable and telling Rena that her swimsuit looked great on her. Rena could barely handle the excitement and almost fainted, although she was able to stutter words of thanks before she stepped out of line to let the next person have their turn. Even though Rena hadn’t been able to say more than that, she was over the top with the compliment that Sayuki had given her and couldn’t wait to tell Momoko and Kaede all about it.
Rena is hanging out at Kaede’s house watching TV together. Rena finishes laughing at the show before realizing what she was doing. She quickly puts on a serious face and claims that the show was better than nothing, although she was hoping they’d have a singing competition. Kaede asks her why she was laughing and smiling if she thought the show was so dumb, but Rena calls her annoying instead. Kaede goes to make some hot cocoa because of how cold it is today. Rena says it’s only cold if you go outside but her coat is made of good material on the inside as well so she doesn’t feel the cold at all when she’s wearing it. Kaede calls Rena’s new coat very cute which surprises Rena with how observant she is. Kaede says she’s not that oblivious and reiterates what a cute coat it is. This causes Rena to get embarrassed so she yells at Kaede to hurry up and get that hot cocoa ready for them. The two friends have fun spending time together and before they know it it’s already evening. Rena is surprised at how quickly the day went and laments spending the entire day at home, so she suggests that they go out shopping. Kaede is excited to head out but Rena suddenly says she’s not going anymore. Kaede asks her why she doesn’t want to go when she was the one that just finished suggesting it. Rena says she won’t go because ti’s snowing so she’d rather stay indoors. Kaede wails sadly and Rena asks her if she was excited to go shopping or if she was just excited to see the snow like some little kid. Kaede asks Rena if she didn’t want to go shopping so she could show off her new coat since Kaede had also wanted to go around town with Rena looking so good in her coat. Rena says she normally would but she forgot her gloves today and no way is she going out in the snow without them. After a short silence, Rena reluctantly agrees to go out with Kaede as long as Kaede is willing to lend her her gloves. However, Kaede only has the one pair so she comes up with an idea: they’ll each wear one glove and they can hold each other’s gloveless hand to keep warm. Rena blushes and says she’ll only go along with it until they can buy another pair. |
