Exedra Quest - Prologue
This is the prologue of Exedra Quest in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra.
Story
Sensing Myself
As Name and A-Q stand around, the Lighthouse starts shaking, Name worries that it's because of the fissure on one of the walls, which A-Q confirms, believing that the fissure is spreading. A-Q explains that in the worst case scenario the Lighthouse could crumble if it grows too much, further worrying Name. A-Q says they will look for ways to fix it, but until then Name shouldn't go near the fissure.
Name comes to the fissure, thinking she's not too close, but Nighthawk startles her. She asks them to not tell A-Q, to which Nighthawk nods. The Lighthouse shakes again and Name starts to sense something beyond the fissure, believing it's a Witch. Nighthawk encourages her to go fight it, which reminds Name of what A-Q told them once. In a memory, Name and Nighthawk messed up A-Q's painting and got scolded. Name asked if they couldn't just draw it again, to which an annoyed A-Q responds that its impossible to create the same piece of art twice, and that the piece they damaged was drawn with pigments from an "irregular Witch". Name suggested just collecting those pigments for them, but A-Q warns her that irregular Witches are way more powerful than the ones she fights in the Memory Windows, way too powerful for her, which got Name annoyed.
Back in the present, Name wants to defeat the Witch beyond the fissure, believing it is one of the irregular ones and that she will get those pigments from it. She decides to go against A-Q's wishes, and to go fight the Witch thinking that if she gets those materials, she will make A-Q happy and prove herself. The fissure then suddenly spreads, breaking the boards and the light behind it becomes red instead of blue. Name decides to finally prove herself, she collects her Kioku and goes into the fissure.
A-Q complains about curiosity and Name's defiance, they say the fissure appeared right as Name did in the Lighthouse. A-Q wonders what will happen now that the fissure got too big, and chuckles believing a little lie never hurt anyone.
The Lighthouse shakes again, prompting Name and Nighthawk go to the fissure. Name wants to fight the Witch but is unsure of her strength, to which A-Q comes to them, startling Name. They explain that only she can pass through the fissure and to the Witch, and that she has to fight it. Name argues that if they knew, they should have said something before, but A-Q just says it was entertaining to watch her. Name goes to fight again, knowing that the safety of the Lighthouse is in her hands.
Name comes back from the fight, extremely exhausted. She wishes she could just talk to the Kioku, believing it would make fighting easier. The Lighthouse suddenly goes pitch black, scaring Name and Nighthawk, A-Q tries to calm them down. The lights come back on, but are purple this time, and all around the Lighthouse are the manifestations of Kioku. The Kioku look around, just as shocked as Name, A-Q and Nighthawk. A-Q has no idea what happened and how the Kioku "came to life". Name is pretty happy that she can now talk to the Kioku, believing she could even become friends with them, but A-Q stops her happy daydreaming. Name looks around, noticing just how dim the Lighthouse is, to which A-Q explains that the Memsparks are what light up the Lighthouse, meaning they might be in danger.
Name and A-Q go to the Chamber of Light, where the giant Memspark is dark and corrupted. A-Q believes the Memspark is being eaten away, which also puts the Kioku in danger. Name vows to protect the Lighthouse and Memsparks, but doesn't know how. A-Q thinks about combining their powers, but is cut off by Nighthawk's screech from downstairs.
Name and A-Q go back to the main room and find the Kioku of Sayaka Miki collapsed. A-Q worries and explains that Memsparks and the Kioku are irreplaceable, meaning anything interfering with them could do unrepairable damage, they find it quite fascinating. A-Q tells Name that she will have to directly enter the corrupted Memspark, which gets her even more worried, but A-Q encourages her.
A-Q prepared the gate to the Memspark. They can't predict what will happen, but believe that Name will be alright as she will have the Kioku by her side. As Name looks at the dark Memspark, she "senses herself", but A-Q snaps her out of it and hurries her up. She enters the gate, entering the Memspark, and seeing Sayaka's silhouette. In the Lighthouse, A-Q talks to themself, worrying that Name might be the cause of this, as the problems have been lining up since her appearance. A-Q chuckles, believing it would be "simply magnifico".
