My New Home (私の新しいお家) is Sana Futaba's Heartphial Story in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra.
Story
Sana Futaba reflects on her life. She had nowhere to belong and was like an invisible girl. At school or at home, she was treated like a nuisance. But after meeting Iroha Tamaki, she realized she truly mattered.
Sana arrives at Mikazuki Villa, a place that welcomed her after she was rejected by her family and became invisible to the rest of the world. She hopes this is where she will finally become someone who matters.
Felicia comes home and greets Sana. Sana does not respond because she is unsure if she is allowed to speak. Felicia gets angry. Sana apologizes repeatedly. Yachiyo and Iroha intervene. Sana runs off, feeling worthless and fearing she will be abandoned again.
Sana remembers when her mother remarried. Her stepfather was a professor, her older brother a model student, and her younger brother a star athlete. Sana was not smart or athletic and always felt she did not belong. Her stepfather told her she was no longer considered part of the family and would be treated as if she did not exist. That was the last time she talked to her family.
Sana hides, feeling invisible. She sees a rerun of her favorite puppet show, "Gorogoro the Kitten," about a cat hiding from his friends. Sana relates to him and hopes someone will find her too.
Sana observes the other girls at Mikazuki Villa. Yachiyo forgives Felicia for snacking without asking. Sana thinks they would not have forgiven her if she had done the same. She remembers asking her older brother for help with studying and being mocked. No one ever allowed her to do anything because she was worthless.
Iroha told Sana that a day would come when they would need her help. Sana wants to believe that, but she still feels abandoned.
Sana has a memory of her mother scolding her for losing a handout. Her mother calls her disorganized and slow. Sana remembers that was her wish—to become invisible. Kyubey granted her wish. Ordinary people can no longer see her. She left home and school behind. But she is still visible to other Magical Girls, which is why Felicia could see her. Sana feels she cannot even make a wish come true properly.
Sana wanders to Kosho Ward. She encounters Kanoko Yayoi, who can see her because she is a Magical Girl. Kanoko had a fight with her father and left home. She vents about her father getting rid of the mushrooms she grew. Sana notes that Kanoko's anger is different from her family's anger—Kanoko is still worth forgiving. Kanoko's father comes to find her and brings her home. Sana realizes that people who are forgiven for their mistakes are forgiven because they matter. Kanoko suggests Sana's friends at Mikazuki Villa are probably worried about her. Sana decides to go back.
Sana runs back to Mikazuki Villa, hoping she will be welcomed. But she hesitates, held back by her past rejections. She remembers a white kitten she named Goro, who disappeared one day. She remembers making a friend at school who later looked away when other students teased Sana. She feels no one ever truly sees her. She wonders if she should have stayed alone. The lights at Mikazuki Villa are off, and she thinks everyone has gone out without her. She does not have a key. But she finds a note from everyone at Mikazuki Villa saying they went out looking for her and asking her to call. They were searching for her. Sana realizes she had already been found—her game of hide-and-seek was over.
Iroha and the others return. They are relieved to see Sana. Felicia is still upset about being ignored but understands now. Felicia asks Sana to say "welcome home" when she comes home. Everyone practices together. Sana finally says "welcome home" and cries. She says "I'm home too," and everyone welcomes her. Felicia recorded an episode of "Gorogoro the Kitten" for Sana. They watch it together. The episode has a happy ending, just like Sana's story. Sana realizes Mikazuki Villa is a place where she does not need to prove herself to be accepted. It is her new home.
