Magia Exedra Main Quest - Momoko Togame's Memory

Momoko Togame's Memory (十咎ももこの記憶) is the first Crescent Memoria Main Quest in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra. It follows Momoko Togame, a newbie Magical Girl, joining Yachiyo Nanami, Mifuyu Azusa and their apprentice Sumire Yoake in investigating the "spiritless Magical Girls" of Toyozuru City, while coming to terms with her own wish.

Alongside it an Event version of the story was released.

Magia Record Crescent Memoria Part 1

Momoko Togame attends the Toyozuru Festival, where a tearful girl named Sumire Yoake confesses she wishes to save someone. Momoko feels ashamed of her own selfish wish for courage to confess her feelings. Later at home, her family teases her about love, and she flees to school. On the way, she finds a notebook with a pressed flower, then senses a Witch. She struggles in the fight until Yachiyo Nanami and Mifuyu Azusa rescue her. They invite her to join their team, but Momoko declines, feeling unworthy. She resolves to grow stronger as a Magical Girl.

The next day, Momoko hears news of a girl found unconscious in Toyozuru City. After school, she senses another Witch and rushes to help, only to find Yachiyo and Mifuyu losing badly. She joins the fight, and together they defeat the Witch. Impressed by her growth, Yachiyo asks Momoko to come to her place to discuss something important.

At Mikazuki Villa, Momoko is surprised to find Sumire there. Sumire explains she is an apprentice Magical Girl from Toyozuru, where several Magical Girls have become spiritless, unable to move or speak. The group suspects a powerful Witch is responsible and driving other Witches into Kamihama. They agree to investigate together, meeting at the station the next day.

The group travels to Toyozuru. They visit a hospitalized Magical Girl who is barely conscious. Following Yachiyo's magical trace, they fight endless Familiars but the Witch escapes. Sumire brings everyone to her house and shows a detailed map recording Witch appearances and incidents. She theorizes the Witch disappears after each encounter and only appears under certain conditions. They decide to stay overnight and have dinner. Momoko cooks fried rice, and they share stories about their families and grandmothers' cooking.

The next day, they hunt the Witch again. After defeating more Familiars, they finally enter the Witch's Labyrinth, but the Witch vanishes once more. Sumire suggests giving up for the day and they return to her house. Over dinner, Momoko learns that a Magical Girl's magic is tied to her wish. Yachiyo suspects Momoko's magic might be encouraging others, noting how her presence and cooking lift their spirits. Momoko feels self conscious but accepts the idea. The group prepares for bed, ready to continue the search tomorrow.

The morning after staying at Sumire's house, Momoko wakes up early to help with breakfast while Sumire shares her latest hypothesis about the Witch's pattern: it appears only in locations with a spotlight-like brightness. The group hunts Familiars and follows them to a dark main road near Sumire's home. They enter the Labyrinth, but when Momoko charges recklessly, she freezes in fear. Sumire, despite being only an apprentice, rushes in with her bat and attacks the Witch, allowing the others to carry Momoko to safety. The Witch escapes again, and they agree to meet again tomorrow after school. That evening, Momoko returns home feeling deeply ashamed and jealous of Sumire's courage and selfless wish. Her mother encourages her with a spicy rice omelet, and Momoko slaps herself awake, then gives her depressed brother a harsh pep talk that also lifts her own spirits.

The next day, Momoko arrives at the meeting point with renewed determination. Sumire reveals her refined hypothesis: the Witch always appears where a single light source stands out in darkness, like a spotlight. She predicts the clock tower at night will be the next site. That evening, they wait as nearby buildings go dark, leaving only the illuminated clock tower. The Witch appears, stronger than before. Yachiyo and Mifuyu suddenly collapse, rendered spiritless, while Momoko defeats what turns out to be only an offshoot Witch. With the two veterans unconscious, Sumire admits her theories are now uncertain. Momoko, overwhelmed by jealousy, lashes out at Sumire, then runs off. She spirals into paranoid suspicion that Sumire might be a Witch's minion, but rushes back to Sumire's house to protect Yachiyo and Mifuyu. She finds Sumire guarding them with her bat. Momoko breaks down, apologizing for her jealousy and confessing that Sumire is smarter, braver, and more selfless than her; everything Momoko wished for but couldn't become. Sumire replies softly that she has always known, because she was jealous of Momoko too.

That same night, after Momoko apologizes for her jealousy, Sumire confesses she was jealous of Momoko too for being a full-fledged Magical Girl who can fight alongside Yachiyo and Mifuyu. Both realize they want what they don't have, but share the desire to save everyone. Sumire agrees to help Momoko strategize. She gives Momoko a flashlight to lure the Witch, and a ledger analyzing Momoko's fighting style, noting her high attack power and courage but tendency to rush in. Yachiyo briefly regains consciousness, mumbles "fried rice," and hints that Momoko's magic is tied to the feeling she had when cooking. Mifuyu also wakes up and, though weak, confesses that her own wish to escape a hated reality was selfish, but that becoming a Magical Girl led her to meet Yachiyo and others, proving that what matters isn't the wish itself but how you choose to live afterward. The Witch attacks again.

Momoko gets hit and experiences a strange vision of an unfamiliar girl waking someone up by blasting heavy metal music. She snaps back to reality, now understanding that her magic is encouragement, and she can give strength to others, though she struggles to turn it on herself.

With Yachiyo and Mifuyu still weakened, they combine forces: Momoko boosts everyone with her magic, Mifuyu casts an illusion to make Momoko feel stronger, and Sumire uses her bat. In a desperate moment, Sumire counters a direct Witch attack with a perfect swing, which she attributes to batting center practice. Together they defeat the Witch. News arrives that the hospitalized girl has regained consciousness.

The group celebrates at Mikazuki Villa with a kimchi hot pot that Momoko, Yachiyo, and Mifuyu made together based on Sumire's grandmother's recipe. Sumire is moved to tears by the taste. Yachiyo officially invites Momoko to join their team, and Momoko accepts. Sumire asks to continue staying at Mikazuki Villa while her parents are away, and Yachiyo agrees. As they eat and laugh, Yachiyo reflects on how lively the villa has become, and privately notes that Momoko's strange dream of someone waking another person with loud rock music, matches a prank that Kanae Yukino used to play, even though Momoko never knew Kanae.
