A voice asks how many battles it has been. It talks about five girls that fight against an unseen threat for the sake of fending off calamity. Now, it says, these unseen heroes fight Walpurgisnacht, the ultimate calamity. It introduces the story of these unknown girls, who fight against a fate that can never be changed. Madoka shouts out to Homura, telling her to hang in there after she has been injured. Homura is thankful that Madoka is still alive, and Madoka says that the Player is giving them time by fighting for them. Madoka tells her that they will fight for her, so she should rest. Homura says that Madoka shouldn't fight and that no matter how much she tries and how much she says, she can never save Madoka. Madoka says it isn't her fault and its instead Madoka's for being so useless. She repeats those words again and again, saying that she is useless until the very end. Madoka runs off, saying that she will finally make herself useful.
Homura wonders where this timeline went wrong, and resolves that she should get the help of the Player in order to increase the chances for the next timeline.
Homura then narrates that she then turned back time once again to save her best friend.
5 girls, to grant their wishes,
became Magical Girls, beings that continue to fight against the unseen 'Witches' that spread calamity.
And now, the girls are confronting Walpurgisnacht,
the strongest and worst of calamities.
Their chances of winning are equivalent to none.
However, believing in a faint hope, the girls fight.
