Through the Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist, Kagome Satori is able to fill the pages of her book with a Magical Girl's inner thoughts and desires by obtaining a drop of that girl's magic. These are called Interview Records.
The interviews are recorded by Kagome throughout Arc 2 and then used to empower the girls in their fight against Winchester. Nemu's original intent was to keep them as backup in case she and Touka couldn't turn the Magical Girls of Kamihama into Uwasa. Through them, they could have created entirely new Uwasa bodies to save the girls' lives.
The underlined sections of the interview transcripts are the parts which were repeated during Chapter 12 and used to boost the magic of the girls fighting.
Additionally, Kagome's writing is a framing device for most of the events of Arc 2 – the narrative cuts to her at the beginning and end of most sections.
Kagome Satori gets lost in the Mirrors’ Labyrinth and is pressured by a Familiar to sign an oath to destroy Magical Girls. She initially refuses, also adding that she doesn't know what Magical Girls are. Ultimately, she signs it and is saved by Iroha Tamaki, who defeats the Familiars, and explains that Witches and their minions prey on people, and Magical Girls must fight them.
Later, Kagome recounts the experience to an unseen figure, Tasuke Satomi. She feels sorry for Magical Girls, who protect everyone without recognition, and thinks about contracting with Kyubey to save them. He warns her not to risk her life so easily and instead urges her to write everything down so the truth about Magical Girls can be revealed.
The interviews are a result of Kagome's near-contract with the Kyubey. After learning that Magical Girls ultimately become Witches and that their struggle and sacrifice are entirely unknown to the public, she decides to forgo making a contract with him. Instead, following Tasuke's advice, she concludes that the most effective way to save them is to make their reality known.
At home, Kagome is writing in her notebook about the Automatic Purification System in Kamihama, which she poetically analyzes as a potential "eden" for Magical Girls. She also writes about the encounter between Magia Union and Promised Blood.
Later, she writes about the Tokime trio's arrival, Neo-Magius recruitment and also documents the attack on Touka's lab. At the end of this chapter, it is revealed that Kagome Satori has fused with a Rumor created by Nemu Hiiragi.
The Rumor was initially weak and needed a host to survive. Kagome, with her pre-existing goal to record Magical Girls, was a compatible host. This fusion grants her specific abilities crucial to her work, and now Kagome possesses the ability to listen to all telepathic conversations of Magical Girls around her, as well as a passive ability to charm and not invoke hostility from others.
Kagome is invited by Yachiyo to join the scavenger hunt as cover and Kagome accepts, stating she is glad to be included as she hasn't made friends since moving. After the battle at Moo Moo Farm, she writes about the day's events and concludes by considering a new investigative angle of interviewing members of Promised Blood to get their side of the story for her writings.
She follows Promised Blood around, but doesn't directly interact with them. She later visits the Tokime base to check on Shizuka who is recovering, and Shizuka calls Kagome the first friend she made who is not a Magical Girl. Kagome gains a first-hand experience of a Magical Girl's life by traveling with the Tokime Tribe via their high-speed building-hopping, which terrifies her. Later on, Kagome also tags along with Sana and Sunao who are on a casual outing at a cafe.
"What I wish for...?"
"Ummm..."
"Don't laugh, okay?"
"They say it's just a naive idea, and I know it'll be hard to do on my own, but I still..."
"I just want everyone to be happy, that's how I feel."
"The shape of happiness differs from person to person, and sometimes they conflict with one another. But as we unravel it, I think that there must be a common core to happiness."
"We all drink water, all our hearts beat the same way, I'm sure happiness works just like that."
"It's okay to have different ideals, that's why I want to find happiness for everyone."
"I'm sad when I see someone get hurt, if someone's suffering then I wat to help them."
"Yeah, so... that's why..."
"I think, I wish I could make this world a little bit kinder."
"What I wish for..."
"I can't help but wonder if life at the Mikazuki Villa of now will continue."
"It's fun to cook with Iroha, Tsuruno is as energetic as ever, Felicia is growing up little by little, and even Sana is brightening up, too."
"And everyone's little sister, Ui, is somehow always at the center of everything, and always cheers everyone up."
"I never thought about it before, but now I'm thinking about the future."
"I wonder what kind of dreams Iroha has... I wonder if Tsuruno will stay the way she is forever... Felicia could grow up to be beautiful... And maybe one day a prince will appear to sweep Sana off her feet."
"But we're Magical Girls. I know this won't last forever."
"Just like Mifuyu, I've started to feel my magical power slip away little by little. I don't know when I might fall in this battle." "When I think about the future I described earlier, I'm really just dreaming of something that I know can't come true. That grieves me. So, to enjoy the happiness of today, I'll cherish every second of every day with everyone here."
"But, what I really wish for..."
"Is to live on, alongside everyone at Mikazuki Villa..."
"What I want..."
"Hmmm...?"
"To be the Mightiest Magical Girl! After all, I'm supposed to revive the Yui family and accomplish all sorts f great things!"
"That's what I'm still trying to do."
"I guess what I really wish for is the happiness of everyone I meet! After all, I want everyone I meet to be happy!"
"And then! After I work to make everyone happy, something will be born of my mightiness!"
"In other words, I want everyone to be happy, and the one to make them happy will be me! If I can make people happy, my greatness will be born!"
"And then the Mightiest Tsuruno Yui will be compleeeeete!"
"And maybe that happiness isn't about getting rich or anything like that. Maybe it's just the peaceful everyday life that's all around us."
"For me, happiness is running Banbanzai together with my dad and Felicia. It's going to Mikazuki Villa to have fun." "And I'm sure that everybody's daily lives are just as precious and joyful. A better, brighter tomorrow might just be around the corner."
"And if someone were to come along to try and interfere with that... Well, that'll be when Tsuruno Yui, the Mightiest Magical Girl, fights back and achieves greatness!"
"Even if I have to risk my own life, I'll protect everyone's happiness!"
Kagome continues conducting interviews with more Magical Girls. She also approaches Ryo Midori with a proposal to use her photographs for her journal, and Ryo agrees to provide photos for her.
Kagome tries to think of a way to spread her journal about Magical Girls to the general public, so she seeks advice from Touka and Nemu. Nemu offers to check her manuscripts, while Touka advises on using social networking services to publicize them. Later, Touka's attempts to use the internet to publicize knowledge of magic would mysteriously fail to gain any traction.
Kagome also directly contacts Kyubey's network with the help of Touka's device. She asks for advice on making Magical Girls known to the public, but his intel only confirms that knowledge abut Magical Girls has historically degraded into different myths. Kyubey then attempts to contract with her, but Touka terminates the call.
Later on, Kagome worries that visiting Touka and Nemu is dangerous because they are targets of Promised Blood. Her plushie assistant, animated by the power of the Uwasa, Al, or Aru, surmises that the risk is currently low as Promised Blood is occupied elsewhere. Kagome also thinks about Nayuta Satomi, the daughter of the researcher Tasuke, who first taught her about Magical Girls, and wonders if she is safe.
"Huh? What is it that I want?"
"Hm... hmm... mmgh? I never really thought about it, I guess."
"Ahhh, but 'course I wanna eat a big meal, something a lil' more beefy! When I eat at Tsuruno's Banbanzai, that really hits the spot... But there's a lotta veggie lovers at Mikazuki Villa."
"Also... fish?"
"That's why if I had to choose, I'd pick meat!"
"I don't really got much else I want... because my mom and dad were killed by a Witch a long time ago, and I became a lone mercenary."
"There's lotsa things from the past that I can't get back, but I've also got lotsa things now... Maybe that's why I don't really have anything I want."
"But there's still one thing I wish for. I wanna know what Witch killed my mom and dad, so I can beat it to death!" "I might've already killed it, but knowing that would make me feel better, and I'll feel like I've become a member of Mikazuki Villa 100% that way!"
"Also, when I grow up, I'm gonna become a rancher and have Iroha and Yachiyo drink the most delicious milk ever!"
"Well, that's about it!"
"What I wish for now...? You mean like my dream...?"
"Hmmm... To be honest, it feels like a luxury for me to have a dream..."
"Because I was invisible and alone in my house for a long time... But now I have Iroha, came to Mikazuki Villa, and have been living happily ever since..."
"...But if it's okay for me to want something, I suppose... I'd like to see Ai again..."
"..."
"Please don't look at me like that...! Thanks to Ai, I've had a wonderful time, and I've been able to move forward..."
"But even though I got closure, I don't think it's wrong to say I want to see her again..."
"I'll be fine as long as I keep the memories of that time imprinted in my mind as treasures that helped me grow..."
"Ah..."
"Imprinted..."
"Right, I have a dream...!" "I'd like to become a picture book author! I've had both painful and happy experiences, and I'd like to be able to help people who are suffering in the same way through the world of picture books...!"
"Is that... too much to ask...?"
"But even though no one can see me... I wonder if they can at least see that..."
"It's hard to just suddenly answer what I'd wish for..."
"The regrets that piled up just as quickly as I became a Magical Girl are still with me, and after what happened with Mel and everything else, I only added to those regrets back when I was a member of Mikazuki Villa."
"Really, it was a heck of a lot."
"But if you're askin' me if I plan to just ignore it and deny everything, I just can't."
"Rena's always been stubborn, and even though Kaede's grown, she's still timid at heart."
"They get into trouble a lot, they cry when they're emotional, they're both a handful, but there's something special about them."
"That's why I can't outright deny being a Magical Girl, after all, it let me meet them. I don't want to leave them behind. I want a future where we can all grow up together." "In six years from now, if you include Kaede..."
"Once we all hit twenty, I'd like to go out for drinks together, all three of us."
"Nah, on second thought, maybe not. They both look like they'd be real bad drinkers. Ahaha..."
Kagome participates in a strategic discussion with Touka and Nemu about Ryo's investigation into Promised Blood's secret shortcut to Kamihama. They fear her independent actions could destabilize the fragile peace between Promised Blood and the Union, and jeopardize the ongoing negotiations. At the Rumor of the Eternal Sakura, the three girls await Ryo's return with evidence about Promised Blood's hideout. Following Ryo's death and the destruction of her camera and evidence, they grieve alongside the other Union members.
In response to the increased threat level, including Yuna's assassination threats and Neo-Magius' declaration of war, Kagome, Touka, and Nemu relocate to a fortified Satomi shelter for safety. In this secure location, Touka and Nemu reveal plans for experiments about revealing Magical Girls to the public, and they begin collaborating with Kagome on a radio project. Their goal now is to actively broadcast their message in real-time to a wider audience, which also involves getting Nayuta and Tasuke's help, as well as to likely counter Neo-Magius propaganda.
"Huh? What I desire? Like in the future?"
"I don't really know, career counselors just talk about going into high school..."
"... I'm just a jerk, you know...? I had to transfer schools a bunch of times for protection. I'm unsociable, not even that cute, and I hate being looked down on..."
"I'm such a troublesome girl..."
"Sometimes I unconsciously do things to test Momoko. I hate that part of me and feel like scum for it..."
"And yet I'm afraid of being separated, so I'm also just selfish... *Sigh*..."
"But even for such an awkward girl, Momoko... and Kaede... they still want to be with me..."
"These days, maybe Iroha too... I can't say it myself, but I'm amazed that Iroha wants to be friends..." "That's why... it may be impossible to do more than a little at a time, but I want to change, and one day be able to thank everyone without hiding away or anything."
"So, that's it, maybe what I desire is to be able to grow up together with everyone..."
"Whaaat? Being asked that suddenly is embarrassiiing. In the future... in the future... Hmm, what do I desire...?"
"Lately, I'm not sure what I want to become..."
"Before, I used to want to grow and sell vegetables and flowers while being surrounded by animals."
"But now, veterinarian work sounds good too, so I'm thinking it might be waaay nicer to work alongside other people."
"I-it's a little embarrassing talking about myself... But, it may be thanks to Momoko and Rena that I can even respond in an interview, and that my dreams have changed a little..."
"Momoko has always supported me and cheered me on through my nervousness, even when I've been clumsy and useless."
"Rena has always pushed me around, but, I feel like she's always meant well in how she disciplines me." "Nowadays, I feel grateful for Momoko instead of always feeling super guilty."
"And instead of always being scared of Rena, now I just think she's cute and fight with her all the time."
"Oh, I know how to thank those two, and it's something that everyone at Mikazuki Villa can enjoy too. I wonder if I could start a hands-on style farm!"
"Hawawa, what a surprise that you came to see little me!"
"Huh? Oh, so after this you're going to Hinano and Ryo."
"So, this is about what I desire in the future, right?"
"Then, I've already decided! It's to make boys and girls of all ages around the world go crazy over me and make their hearts skip a beat!"
"Every time I strike a cute pose with a pop, or wink with a snap and a heart flies out, and every time I sing with all my heart with a mic in hand, everyone will cheer up from my bubbly healing aura."
"Of course, my stage won't just be at a maid cafe. I want a greeaaat big dome!"
"And then there's Yumi, the girl who exchanged dreams with me, and there's the customers, and the stage effects will be handled by Hinano, and my exclusive photographer will be Ryo."
"I've... never really done much as a Magical Girl, have I?"
"And in my personal life, Ryo, who's four years younger than me, has always been more reliable. Even in the Wings of Magius, the Ryo back then was a higher ranked White Feather."
"That's why, at least once, I want to be the best I can be in front of everyone, you know?"
Touka, Nemu and Nayuta plan to use Tasuke’s influence as a professor, the Satomi family's reach, as well as utilize Kagome's work to gain credibility. Kagome also undergoes the completion of the Rumor of the Wind Evangelist with Touka and Nemu’s help. Despite the risks involved in this experimental procedure, she resolves to go through with it to gain the power to better aid Magical Girls. The process is successful and Kagome completes the Rumor, giving her a physical form and Kagome gains a boost to her powers.
Later, Kagome arrives at the Battle of Kamihama Community Center with her Rumor in tow. Notably, not a single Neo-Magius member attacks her, and she even has a courteous introduction with San.
"Well, there's only so much I can say I desire."
"It's gotta be turning this shorty little figure into a nice body... Wait, no no. Well, honestly I do really desire that... but that's more of a personal thing."
"Right now I'm more worried about everyone else around me."
"Emiri, Rika, and Ren? And then there's Ryo and Sakurako. Hell, there's way too many Magical Girls in Kamihama worrying me right now..."
"Though, aside from whatever pranks fate may have in store for me, it ain't a bad thing that I've been surrounded by all these girls."
"I always thought I'd use my knowledge of chemistry to develop medicine or something, but now that I've gotten closer to people, I'm starting to see my near future a little differently, so I think there's something else I can do."
"Sure I'm putting that on hold for now, but I wish for the happiness of everyone I know, so I want to help everyone be happy. I desire to become that kind of person."
"Did you get used to your phone's camera? It's not like you gotta use a single-lens reflex camera, 'cause these days smartphones are multi-lens so they can shoot near and far, so maybe that'll help ya out more?"
"So, ahh, about that whole desire thing? Well, you don't even haveta ask."
"Because all I think about is usin' this camera to uncover the truth."
"Though recently I've been thinkin' maybe I should be working for someone else's sake, and not just for gossip articles."
"Originally, I started takin' pictures because no one really trusted my stories, but I realized I was just bringin' up dirt on anyone and anything, so I started wonderin' what I should do."
"After what you guys talked about the other day, I saw a great opportunity to do my best work yet. I'm gonna snap the reality of Magical Girls' lives and show everyone in the world just what we go through."
"I think this moment is what my wish has led me to. I feel like this is my reward."
"I don't know if I can even say what I desire."
"Since I was originally planning on dying, I never reeeally thought about my future."
"Mmm, but you still want to ask me anyway... I do still want to know everything about the universe."
"Kyubey's the reason I got interested, after all."
"I guess I'm also interested in the human body? But the universe itself has supported me through tough times, so it's still number one for me!"
"Besides, people, Kyubey, everything really― We all began as primitive beings, and if you follow each and every source, you end up at the universe."
"In other words, knowing everything about the universe covers everything I'd need to know, including the human body. It's all one and the same!"
"Does that tiny brain of yours even understand?" *giggle*
"...Yeah."
"Understanding the universe would blow you away compared to knowing the absurdity of being born, I'm sure."
"If you want to inquire about me, I'm the same as Touka. You ask what I desire, but I have already offered up my body to the underworld once. Even if the words I choose sound like desire, I think they are no different from atonement."
"Though I suppose no matter what I say, you still need an answer."
"It's no matter, I am fully aware of your situation and your goal."
"However, I do not have any greater desire than Touka does. Because unlike her, I have come to realize just how close I am to my own death."
"As you can see from my legs, my body... no, my soul, has already been corrupted and cursed by my overabundant use of my Doppel."
"I don't know what will happen the next time there is a crisis and I release my Doppel."
"Therefore, if there is something I did want, it would be for what is yet to come."
"One way or another, I do want to finish this book and open the eyes of those that know nothing."
"That is my one and only desire."
At the beginning of this chapter, Sakurako communicates with the Rumor of the Wind Evangelist, who worries about fitting in with the other Rumors in the world inside Nemu's book.
After the election, which was swayed by Neo-Magius, Kagome recounts the failed hopes for the election and the allegations that now implicate the East and Mitama. She also recounts Nayuta's story about how Magical Girls are treated Yukuni City.
"I heard from Touka and Nemu. You've been asking all of the Magical Girls what kind of a future they want, right?"
"*Giggle* Well you see, I actually want to be a music teacher in the future."
"I've loved music ever since I listened to choirs singing in the hospital, and after watching Sis and Yachiyo leading everyone I got interested in teachers."
"Though recently when I've seen Sis leading people, I realized just how much she thinks about others, and that makes her so amazing to me."
"The two closest to me are Touka and Nemu, but when they start fighting and thinking their opinions are the right ones, I never know how to answer them."
"That's why my dream is to create a future where Magical Girls can hold hands together, just like how Sis believes right now."
"If that can come true, then I believe that by thinking about each other, we can bring ourselves together. In the same way I will prove that everyone can be happier by bringing them closer together in a classroom."
"That's why if I could save all Magical Girls, I think I could sacrifice myself now."
"I'm busy with this draft right now, so we can do this later!"
"In my next manga, Alina suddenly wakes up with a BANG, and her memory is restored. I'm aiming to make this my best manga yet!"
"...Ah, it's a manga, but it's not like an ordinary manga, it's more like a plan I thought up."
"If this plan succeeds, Alina could become an ally of righteousness and end up back at an even zero. So I'm totally making her read it and getting her to act it out the way I think it will!"
"It's true that everyone sees Alina as a bad person that tried to destroy Kamihama, but from my viewpoint, Alina hasn't been able to limit her pursuit of beauty, so much to the point that she just can't stop herself!"
"So if I can properly remind her of the difference between good and evil, I'm sure she'll go back to being a wonderful artist!"
"....."
"So, if there is something I'd desire... She's blunt, her thoughts are a total mystery, sometimes she's a bit scary, and I don't always get what she's saying, but..."
"That cool girl that makes me gasp in surprise with her inspirational words... I want Alina to come back..."
"I was just thinking it was nearly my turn. Hm, it seems my intuition was right."
"I don't think it's possible, but I desire a future where all people live in an equal and fair society. Do you think it's possible?"
"...If you ask if I'm right, I am right, but I'm the one going against the world. I'm not looking for stricter laws or norms."
"I only want people to stop lumping everyone together without looking, and see each and every individual that lives here and evaluate them for who they are."
"Of course there are rougher people as well. Maybe it's because I grew up in such a different environment, or because I give off a glaring impression."
"However, if you pull the lid off of me, you'll find Nagitan from the maid cafe."
"My younger brother may try to pick fights, but he never does anything violently himself. My mother is a healthy woman who helps support the family with me, on behalf of my father who has a bad leg."
"Even if we spend our days poor in the material sense, we are never mentally poor. In Daito and Kosho, many sorts of people like us." "So, it is my hope that one day we can be evaluated as the individuals we are, so that we can live side by side with the west, as one city."
"Though, this future I desire is not so far away. Yes, I believe so..."
"What I desire has not changed since long ago."
"Spending time as a normal girl, living as a normal woman and having a family, raising my child when they are born, and dying a grandmother surrounded by my grandchildren."
"That being said, the moment I became a Magical Girl I started going in reverse since I couldn't find the rail I wanted to ride anymore, so it is all in vain now."
"However, I have not given up, and that is why I am working hard to expand the Automatic Purification System as one with the Kamihama Magia Union."
"Though not being one of the chosen members does make me a little sad..."
"Ah, I cannot be so negative. As their senior, I must create an atmosphere that doesn't bring down everyone around me."
"I spoke a little negatively just now, but truthfully, I am not negative about my current situation."
"There is still a path filled with hope for salvation, where no one will become Witches."
"And because I passed my university entrance exam Touka imposed upon me, instead of listening to my parents and taking over the Mizuna kimono shop, I feel like I can walk the path of a normal girl." "And I am still connected with my matchmaking partner that led me to the opportunity to join the Wings of the Magius."
"So even though it has not been smooth sailing, a tailwind is blowing. If I can reach a new world for Magical Girls while this wind blows at my back, I would feel so overjoyed."
After the destruction of the Futatsugi shortcut and Yuna's possession of four Kimochi stones, Kagome is present in Futatsugi for the final battle. She intends to see the battle personally and she is also under the added protection of Puella Care, who are a neutral party.
During the battle, Kagome rushes in to save two Promised Blood girls from an attack by the Kimochi-possessed Yuna. She is severely injured from it and while fading in and out of consciousness, Kyubey appears and offers her a contract to save her life. Kagome rejects the contract, confident that Iroha will save everyone and that making a wish would be a betrayal of her mission and her understanding of the system.
Afterwards, she is evacuated to a hospital in critical condition. Her survival is attributed to her fusion with Rii, the Wind Evangelist Uwasa and the healing magic of the Promised Blood girls she saved. From her hospital bed, Kagome is incapacitated and unable to actively observe, so she resorts to having others, particularly from the Union and Puella Care to fill her in on what's happening from then on.
"I assumed you were only meeting with girls from Kamihama, but it turns out you're listening to us, too."
"No need to apologize. I wasn't trying to criticize you; I just figured that since you're from Kamihama, you might be a bit more inclined to them."
"So what kind of future do I want, huh?"
"Hmm... It's not really that big of a deal. While I'm not too embarrassed to bring it up... No. Now that I'm a Magical Girl, it IS a big deal."
"I’m trying to say that I want to go back to the life of an ordinary student."
"When I infiltrated that school in Kamihama and joined the athletics team, interacted with the younger students, I wondered why I couldn't just be a normal student while also being a Magical Girl in Futatsugi."
"Of course, in becoming a Magical Girl, it was impossible to live peacefully in Futatsugi, but that was then. I think things can change from here on out."
"Putting aside the liberation from our fates, now is the best opportunity for everyone in Futatsugi to come together. So once this battle is over, I'll be able to become a normal student in Torayamachi, alongside Yuna, Hikaru, and the others."
"At least, that's what I hope..."
"Sakuya said you were talking to the members of Promised Blood. Turns out it's true."
"To be honest, there's tons of things I regret, but I don't have any future I'm after or anything, so I ain't got much to say."
"Well... if I had to say there's some regret of mine I wanna fix, it'd be Ao and Rena."
"I don't feel like I've finished redeeming myself to Ao, what with the old whole exploitation thing with the Grief Seeds and all. I gotta think about how I can make things right."
"And since I hurt Rena, I think I oughta say sorry to her about that while we're both still alive."
"However, even if what I did was scummy as hell, we were enemies then. Honestly, part of me says we had no other choice."
"So what do I want? Ultimately, I got no clue."
"...Well, maybe I do."
"Maybe I'm after a friend like Juri - not just someone who supports me, but someone I can laugh with, even when we're at odds."
"My thoughts are pretty simple."
"I'm gonna keep working as Yuna's horse just like I am now. Nothin' more to it!"
"I just hope we get this battle all over with, and that the horn on Yuna's head goes away soon."
"I don't mind helping Yuna get revenge. And it's not like I'm against killing 'em or anything."
"I just wanna see Yuna be at peace again."
"Seeing her angry and in pain hurts me, too, and if she keeps being driven by her grudges, I'm scared she'll disappear one day." "Of course, if she goes away, I'll be going with her, but I wanna enjoy school life with her a little bit more."
"And someday, when I grow up, I wanna be Yuna's right-hand woman, who can support her even outside of being a Magical Girl."
"Though if I wanna do that, maybe I should try being more like Sakuya, first!"
"Considering we’re all in funeral mode, this seriously ain't a good time to be asking me this kinda stuff."
"I guess that's precisely why you wanna check out how things are going, though."
"Oh, you can tell? Yeah, I've been feeling like all my bad emotions like fear and sadness have been slowly fading away lately."
"At first, I thought it was 'cause I was gettin' stronger, but I think it's 'cause I've been taken over by the Kimochi, like everyone else says."
"But I'm cool with that."
"Like, I don't want anyone to abuse or exploit me anymore... So that means I gotta be strong to protect myself, yeah?"
"And that ain't all. I gotta be stronger than my Sisters who've been leading the fight in Futatsugi, and I have to get to the top."
"I ain't gonna be safe so long as someone else is above me."
"...I really don't want to do that, you know?" "I'm way more skilled in communication now, so I'd like it if I could just make friends and round up a buncha members so we can all play games together."
"I think it'd be awesome if I could make a pro-gaming team."
Kagome is contacted by Torte (Jeanne) from 15th-century France, who seeks to know how Joan of Arc is remembered in the present day. Kagome's initial research fails, as historical records of Tart have been erased. The investigation moves to the "Ark of Feelings," a repository of memories stored as books.
Kagome meets Torte's parents, Nicholas and Pernelle Flamel, who explain their mission to collect and preserve memories of "La Pucelle" in books within the Ark to investigate worldwide abnormalities. Kagome and Torte discover they now have special abilities: Torte can awaken memories of La Pucelle through eye contact, and Kagome's magical pen can record these memories, allowing them to return to the Ark.
Kagome interviews Tart's comrades, Melissa and Elisa, who express frustration over the fading memory of Tart. They learn that the cause of this is an invasion from an alternate world where Tart never existed, caused by Isabeau de Baviere finding one of the Mirror Witch's mirrors. It is symbolized by a red moon in the sky which is erasing Tart from history.
The group enters another notable memory book, witnessing a rebellion led by Tart's former comrades, documenting the political fallout and personal regrets following Tart's execution. To resolve a time paradox, the group enters the mind of Dauphin Louis to restore his memories. Ultimately, Torte makes a contract and her wish is for Tart's legacy to be preserved correctly in the world. Torte becomes a Magical Girl, and her wish resolves the paradox, also sending Kagome back home and erasing her memory.
Torte secretly delivers the magic pen to Kagome from the past, and this creates a causal loop, ensuring that Kagome will have the tool needed to record and remember the truth of La Pucelle. Later, Kagome is about to be discharged from the hospital and she reads Interview Records in her own handwriting containing accounts she finds unbelievable, including those of Jeanne d'Arc. Despite doubts about their objective truth, she believes the feelings expressed within them are genuine. With her friends' support, she considers naming her collection of Magical Girl records "Magia Record."
"To 'seek knowledge'... as someone who sought the truth, this was my desire and my everything."
"But meeting 'La Pucelle' changed me... Some say I've become a bit softer."
"At that time... 'La Pucelle' realized that becoming a Witch was an inevitable fate, and she chose the path of being burned at the stake in exchange for the lives of her comrades."
"And 'La Pucelle'... Tart, she was imprisoned by her own enemies. She left me, who was merely a bystander until the end, with the words, 'Please take care of everyone...'"
"...Witnessing her death, for the first time in my long life, I prayed to someone other than my husband."
"However, all I could do was pray..."
"If my daughter is interested in 'La Pucelle' and wishes to know about her way of life,"
"I sincerely want her to think about what she can do for the late Jeanne."
"That is my current desire."
"If possible, I want to meet Tart right away... That might be my true desire."
"But it's something that can never be fulfilled... In that case, I thought that inheriting Tart's feelings would be the path for me to live."
"That's why I will continue to fight from now on, until the peaceful world that Tart desired is realized."
Elisa's Interview Record
"For true salvation to come to Tart... That is the only thing I desire."
"But Tart won't wish for her own salvation. Until the very last moment, she thought of the others and died for the others’ sake..."
"That's why I will keep on living to the fullest. When the time comes for me to leave this world, I want to face Tart with pride."
"And I want to be able to proudly report her that I have done this much for the peace of Europe as well..."
"To give birth to a true hero with my own hands... That's all I've ever desired, and I’ve embarked on a long journey for that."
"Along the way, I experienced countless farewells and moments of despair."
"Tart is the light of my hope... The hope I finally encountered at the end of my long journey."
"No matter what lies ahead, I will never let this light be extinguished."
Tart's Interview Record
"When I lost Catherine, my beloved sister, I made a vow before her grave. I swore to save this country and bring light to France."
"That's why I, guided by the angels, will continue straight ahead, no matter what happens."
"Because beyond that, there is a world where everyone can live in peace... I believe there is hope."
"I believe in that light... And I only look forward."
While hospitalized, Livia, Yozuru and Sudachi act as Kagome's field agents and visit the various factions to gather information on her behalf. By the end of this chapter, Kagome has been discharged from the hospital thanks to her Uwasa and healing magic, though hasn't fully recovered.
She experiences a crisis of faith from Urara's warning that Professor Satomi has given up and that Kagome's work could lead to tragedy. She starts to doubt whether spreading the truth is the right path.
Later, she is present for Touka and Nemu's gambit at the Rumor of the Eternal Sakura, where the two detonate their bracelets by transforming. The event is so traumatic that she notes, "my fingers won't stop shaking," but she continues to record it, fulfilling her promise to them.
Despite her doubts, she resolves to continue and keeps documenting the escalating crisis, including the schism between the factions and the shocking actions of Touka and Nemu, who have survived the explosion but are now comatose.
“Mmm... What am I wishing for? What do you mean?”
“Like what I want to be in the future?”
“I want to be a celebrity who gets featured in TeraPichi, and I want to be a model like Yachiyo, and opening up a shop like Sis and having lots of fun with everyone sounds great too.”
“Out of those, maybe I should open a shop, then. Sutan told Mii that the entertainment world has its scary parts, and could even be dangerous if you get into a bad agency.” "Sis always goes on about how I'm so cute, so I'll take the safer choice and go with a store!"
"I'll sell all kinds of both cheap and expensive sweets, make it a place where lots of sweets lovers can come and be happy, even Nayutan and Lavitan"
“I actually really want to do a store with Sis, but...”
“I think it'd be best if Sis leaves this city after she graduates from high school. Together with Nagitan, that is.”
“I don’t really get it, but it’s like a darkness is seeping into them while they’re here. So I'd like it if they can become grown-ups soon, so they can be free.”
“In my case, no matter how many times people ask me what kinda future I want, I’m afraid my nature’s gonna get in the way.”
“To put it bluntly... I can’t hold back my anger, and even when I try, the voltage keeps buildin’ ‘til I explode. I’d have to change that before I can do anythin’ else.”
“It feels great to go up against strong opponents and kick their asses, but it’s ‘cause of me and the others that people end up like Lil' Sis, right?”
“This ain’t about squarin’ up against other people. I’m talking about doin’ something about my own nature.”
“So if there’s anythin’ Juri the Great wants, it’s to take care of herself first. If I don’t, I’ll either have to go find a war somewhere to keep fightin’, or give up on my own life.” "And I mean, I've been allowed to do whatever I want, so I don't have any major regrets about my life. But after spendin' time with Sis, Lil' Sis and the Horse, I've started seein' the world a little differently."
"Funny enough, I've learned how much fun it is to hang out with my friends."
"That's why I'm gonna save Lil' Sis and peace outta this world before any regrets can start pilin' up. It'd be too hard for me otherwise."
“I'm not famous, and yet I feel so nervous at the thought of being interviewed..."
“Given my demeanor, people express disbelief that I used to be an assassin targeting those who would intervene with the Tokime Village's doings.”
“But as I said in the past, there's no avoiding the truth. My regrets are carved deep into my very being...”
“That's why... for all that I tried to kill her, I want to help Shizuka elevate the Tokime Clan towards the ideal she strives to attain. Since we've known each other for so long, I feel a strong sense of duty towards watching over her.”
“Unfortunately, however, I'm just a country girl compared to Charu, so there's not much I can do to help her navigate city life.”
“Still, no matter how much I help our clan, the fact I tried to kill them will never be erased...” "Perhaps the reason I'm so drawn towards caring for children and elders is because I seek repentance for my sins..."
"I hate myself for thinking that way... But I will strive nevertheless to aid those who need me now."
"If I could have just one wish, it would be to enjoy my adolescence so much that my dark past fades away."
“It’s rare for someone to ask me about my thoughts like this.”
“However, although I would like to answer your query, I hold certain conflicting beliefs that give rise to some... contradictions within me. Therefore, it's difficult for me to speak of hope...”
“With that said, it’s not my intention to inconvenience you, so under the hypothetical that I might somehow live through this, permit me to convey, in the past rather than the progressive tense, the hope I once harbored.”
“Simply put, I wish only to live a quiet, tranquil life separated from humanity by all means necessary.”
"My few companions from Yukuni... Those fof the Tokime Clan, encountered by chance... They are plenty enough for occasional meetings, leaving me otherwise alone."
"Nay, rather, I prefer solitude." "I grow weary of being consumed by the company of others. Let me live in harmony with nature, and thus return to the earth... At that time, I shall bear the memory of my comrades, and at least one of them shall, at my side, be witness to my departure."
"I wish for nothing more than that."
"But still, as I said earlier, this is the hope I had in days past. I don't think that I could live and die in such bliss as I am now."
After their explosion, and Kyubey's newly-gained control of the Automatic Purification System, Kagome likens Touka's last command to her to a curse. Once Neo-Magius take action, she visits Puella Care to question the Coordinators so she can find answers. She questions when Himena was last seen and learns from Yozuru and Sudachi that Himena had been forming a plan for a while, but it was less radical in its earlier stages. Livia decides to break her neutrality and reveals that while she couldn't see the specifics of Himena's plan due to Hiko, its intentions were the opposite to the goal of saving Magical Girls.
Kagome moves her investigation to the Tokime Tribe at Suitoku Temple, hoping to understand them and potentially see Shizuka rejoin their cause. She ruminates that an "invisible force" seems to make things turn for the worse for Magical Girls, but she has chosen to continue her work where Tasuke gave up. Kagome theorizes that if the Tribe could break free from the chains of their history, it would be a positive sign for all Magical Girls breaking free from their fates. She conceptualizes a plan to use the Kimochi stones to facilitate a heart-to-heart with Shizuka, similar to what Iroha and Yuna did, so she instructs Rii to pass this idea on.
"I've been waitin' for this! I knew you'd come to me for an interview one of these days."
"Which is why I've already thought about exactly what kind of future I want! Well, it was pretty obvious from the beginning, heheh."
"It's like he always says, truth is stranger than fiction! I'm going to become a great detective that even surpasses Kouichi Todoroki, and I'll expose and solve lots of crimes!"
"Well, becoming a shogun wouldn't be a bad idea either, but after all, there's no shogunate in the modern era, so I think a detective is the more realistic option!" "Of course, I'm worried about the Tokime Clan, but I'm also sorta not worried about it... I think it'll all work out."
"We've got Shizuka and Sunao and so many other people. It's going to be hard, but I feel like we can rebuild the Tokime Clan from scratch."
"So I figured if you're asking about my wants, it'd have to be about my future rather than the Clan's. The future is scary, but I'm also excited about it."
"I suppose what I really desire is to do my best for the Land of the Rising Sun, and make the world a happy place for everyone."
"Since coming to Kamihama I've encountered many people, and come to understand there is more evil in the world than I thought. Still, I'm sure that there are things the Tokime Clan can do."
"Once I figure out what we can do, I'm sure that the clan will follow me as their leader, and we'll be able to all work together for that end."
"Though I am a bit worried that even if I make a mistake, none of them will try to stop me." "Once this conflict is over and the Tokime Clan can face their goals with clear hearts, I'd like us to become more familiar with the world I've come to learn of since going to the city."
"For example, there's this thing called a 'theme park' that I'd love to take the whole clan to!"
"Eh, you want to hear from me, too...? That's fine... It won't make any difference if I say anything..."
"I just need to put some of my magic into it, right...?"
"...If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to go home soon. I don't mind talking to you, but please don't show this to anyone. It's... embarrassing..."
"I think you already know, but I want to go public about Magical Girl Supremacy, so that everyone will know how amazing we actually are..."
"We're always fighting Witches and saving people, so I don't think it's right for people to make fun of us..." "Yeah, I just want people to say 'Wow, you're doing a great job, thank you.'"
"And also, I prefer being alone over being surrounded by people, so I'd like it if people wouldn't make fun of me just for keeping to myself in the classroom..."
"Hawawawa, Shigure told me about this, that you really are interviewing even the Neo-Magius!"
"Oh, but it's okay. I already prepared the 'future I would wish for' in advance so that I don't take up too much of your time."
"Um, just a minute. Ah... oh, here it is!
"I'm still a bit undecided, but to be honest, I'd like to be a fashion designer, or a stylist."
"If Magical Girl Supremacy works out, and people stop teasing me, and I can be more open with people, then it should become easier to me to talk assertively with people.
"If that happens, then I'm sure my communication skills will improve, and I'll be able to do those kinds of public-facing jobs."
"I like making stage costumes too, but I really get a thrill out of dressing up beautiful people."
"Someday I'd love to coordinate outfits for Himena, the Instructor, Miyuri, and Shigure."
"The future that I wish for is, of course, one in which Magical Girls are saved."
"One where everyone knows about Magical Girls, they support us in our fight against Witches, and everyone becomes a little kinder so that we don't need to have wishes granted in the first place."
"I think that it would be a great aid to both Magical Girls and people alike."
"I'm sure that your interviews will some day help everyone to know about Magical Girls, and it can become a memoir that supports the book that Papa is putting together."
"I'm not sure what Papa's thinking right now, but he must have had a reason for going into hiding."
"If he's wrong then I'll correct him, and as a Magical Girl that carries hope, I'll give him a good scolding!" "And then, one more thing... After what's going on in Kamihama is over, I'd like to continue with Lavi as we have until now..."
"I'm not sure what happened, but I have a sense of something dark, and I'm worried that she might just disappear..."
Kagome is directly affected by the Neo Magius' hunger-inducing, radio wave magic. She describes the physical and psychological agony it induces, noting that only Iroha's reassurance allowed her to regain composure. She also listens as Shigure and Hagumu explain the full, horrifying details of Himena's plan, including the manipulation of the mayor.
Kagome follows Team Mikazuki to Chuo Ward and questions her Uwasa, Al (Rii), about its purpose. She pragmatically analyzes whether any method of revealing Magical Girls, even a violent one, is acceptable to it. Based on the Uwasa's implied response and her own conclusion, she determines that its true purpose is to "save Magical Girls," not just reveal them.
At home, Kagome checks on her parents who are thankfully unaffected by the curse due to their location. She states her motivation that regardless of how this conflict ends, she needs to record it; if it ends badly, then her work can at least be a lesson for future generations to avoid their mistakes.
She meets with Mikage and the others, and her Uwasa later reports to her on the successful intervention with Kanagi and Mitama. They arrive at the scene where Momoko's group is confronting Kanagi and Mitama and the Uwasa allows Kagome to listen in from a distance. En route to the Memory Museum, Kagome's Uwasa senses the convergence of all factions and correctly analyzes that Himena is surrounded and stands no chance. After the incident's conclusion, she records that the memory-altering magic erased the public's physical memory of the event but left a digital footprint of evidence.
She meets with Tasuke and Folklore at the aquarium and she asks him if his resignation has changed. He confirms that the outcome of the incident allows them to view their past tragedies in Yukuni as coincidences, not inescapable fate. Tasuke, reinvigorated, announces his plan to write a second volume of his book and invites Kagome to cooperate. Kyubey approaches her, noting her strong karmic destiny has grown from her interviews and offers a contract to her. She refuses again, stating that while she considered it during the crisis, she now wishes to wait for a time when her wish can be used specifically to "make Magical Girls smile."
“All I want is to stay by Lady San’s side forever~.”
“That said, she's gonna be graduating from school in two years... I don’t think she’d ever leave Hikarizuka, but I'm scared we might grow apart...”
“Still, I’m sure Lady San is aware that we’re gonna have to leave this town and the Fire Festival eventually~.”
“That means one day, I’ll have to stray from her and be on my own, doesn’t it...?”
“So, to be honest, I really wanna do something about how anxious I am...” “I wanna be able to go out in front of everyone with my chin up, compete in inline skating tournaments with pride, and handle everyday life by myself without difficulty.”
“I feel like becoming someone independent like that is a requirement for staying together with Lady San, even when we’re adults, you know...?”
“Thank you very much for travelling to a neighboring town like this for an interview. I just purchased some treats for teatime, so you’re welcome to relax if you’d like.”
“Ah, might you be familiar with the Shochiku hermitage’s thin-skinned manjuu buns? They’re a famous confectionery here in Hikarizuka, and they go splendidly with tea.”
“Based on what I’ve heard from the others, I presume you’re here to ask about what I want for the future?”
“That can be only one thing for me, you know? All I want is to bring back the Hikarizuka Fire Festival.”
“I suppose there’s more than that, however. I want to become someone who unearths the old charms of this town where I was born and raised, and spreads that knowledge to Japan and the world.” “However, I don’t want people to think I’m fooling around. I’ll go to college to learn some useful skills for revitalizing the town, and then I’ll go on to work for the local government.”
“Through organizing various local events, I will elevate Hikarizuka to national fame.”
“Ah, but wouldn’t it be a bit strange for the god of the Fire Festival to have a day job...? Perhaps simply becoming a god in and of itself would be the best way to breathe some life into the town.”
“Welcome to the Coordinator’s Shop!”
“I’ve just baked some sweet treats to go with coffee. Would you care for any?”
“Oh my, not today? Are you sure? What a shame.”
“I can’t say I’ll have much to tell you. I thought I would at least offer you some Mitama Yakumo-style hospitality.”
“...Indeed, there is little for us to talk about. You’re here to ask about my future, yes? I have no such thing...”
“Nothing but darkness awaits Magical Girls, and even if I thought we could unite Kamihama City, the East-West relations will only worsen... Then there are my own personal faults...”
“But if I was completely hopeless about everything, I probably wouldn’t even be alive here in this shop, you know?”
“I believe in what Kanagi told me about Magical Girls being equal, and I have faith in Momoko and Iroha and all of their friends. Perhaps that’s why I’m still clinging to the frayed edges of my life like this.” “I just want the world to be a place where Mii can be happy, if only for a short while longer.”
“I don’t care about myself anymore, just her... She’s the one thing I can’t give up on.”
“I want Futatsugi City to be a place where Magical Girls won’t have to fight each other.”
“In order for me to properly lead everyone, we’ll need Ao to come back to us first, and we’ll also have to find a way to mitigate Juri’s rampages...”
“That said, with the Automatic Purification System, we won’t become Witches or crash and burn. If we can achieve a Futatsugi like this, I feel as though we could finally go back to being normal students.”
“For once, as Promised Blood, I was able to experience the joy of having Torayamachi, Ryuugasaki, and Janomiya unite as one.”
“We used to clash with foes from Kamihama and beyond, but once Miss Tamaki saved countless Magical Girls- including our own- we laid down our arms. All that remains is the joy of spending time with one another.”
“I cannot speak for anyone else, but that sounds like a most appealing future to me.” "Alas, I have been drenched in blood since the moment I became a Magical Girl. Never have I known a moment of solace..."
"If severing veins is all I know, I don't think I am fit for a peaceful future."
"As such, in spite of my wishes... I believe I should hand the city's future down to Hikaru and Ao, and then die so that I don't ruin this world..."
“Mm... The kinda future this cutie wants, huh?”
“T-B-H there’s, like, a bajillion things I’m after. It’s hard to narrow it down.”
“I think the only, like, gotta-have-it victory is reviving Hiko. And then the two of us are gonna enjoy our youth to the fullest. But we can’t go to the same school, so we’re probably gonna have to live far away from each other, huh...”
“Actually, this cutie’s SUPER not up for the whole “long-distance” thing! Change of plans, I’m at least gonna go to a school near Hiko!”
“Ooh, hold that thought! Long-distance AND close by...?! That means...!”
“We’ve got a shot at, like, living together or something! No way, that’d be like SERIOUSLY MEGA CRAZY! I’m SO gonna do my best to cook for him.”
“Ahh... I wanna keep our relationship going well and get married when we graduate; maybe have at least a couple kids... I want us to keep being lovey-dovey even when we’re in our 30s and 40s, but Hiko is shy, so I dunno if he’d wanna go on dates.”
“Eh? What is it, Hiko...?”
“Mm-hm... mm-hm... What do you mean, 'don’t be unrealistic'?! I was just envisioning our happily ever after!” "Besides, this is still Part One of the future I want, y'know?!"
"Do we still have time?! There's a TON of stuff I wanna talk about!"
"I got things to say about Shigurin, Hagurin, the Instructor, Miyurin, Miwarin, and all the Feathers. I'm tellin' ya, I could legit go on for ages!"
"Just tell me which one you wanna start with first!"
After Lavi is saved, and the faction leaders face the situation of Kyubey keeping the core of the Automatic Purification System, Kagome declares her intent to contract. She runs through a mental list of possible wishes based on her extensive research, such as making Magical Girls known to the world (but she pragmatically weighs the risks of this, such as persecution or exploitation), saving everyone's lives, saving Lavi, or becoming the core of the APS herself.
She rejects these and settles on her wish: "Kyubey, I want the power to stop you and your kind from ever interfering with the Automatic Purification System, for all eternity!"
With this, she transforms and jumps high into the air, spreading Al's leaves across Kamihama and banishing Kyubey from the city.
"It's difficult for me to answer questions about my future. I'm still just doing my best trying to learn Coordination, and I don't yet have the confidence to lead a normal life myself..."
"I can't help with what I lost, but even were I to regain compassion for others, my own anguish would turn me into a Witch. So all I can do is learn how to live without causing trouble for others."
"However, since Teacher told me not to rely solely on notes, I've started trying to make decisions based on my instincts, and I feel that I've gotten a better grasp on when to be kind."
"For example, if an insect were to land on Sudachi's arm, I wouldn;t think anything of it. Even knowing that an insect bite hurts, I wouldn't think anything of it."
"But then I realized that if I can anticipate negative consequences, I could try to stop them from happening."
"So, although I'm only halfway there, I'd like to hone my senses a little more, and live life with dignity once again."
"Yes, even though this is a small thing, it is my goal for the future. I believe it will be the first way I can repay Teacher and Sudachi."
"Also, if I can come to understand kindness, I would like to face my mother's feelings again. I'd like to compare her thoughts when I was born with her thoughts when she died..."
Sudachi's Interview Record
This text was translated by Miss Yozuru, who was also present at the interview.
"Livia might get mad at me for saying this, but I don't think I have the right to have hopes for my future."
"A lot of kids died because of my wish, and I can't bring back the lives that have been lost."
"Even if I could wish for something, I don't think it would come true. If you know Kyubey, you understand. When you make a wish and distort the laws of nature, there won't be a happy outcome..."
"So, all I can do is keep going. I can't turn a negative number into a zero, but I can at least become a better person."
"I really want to get closer to Mii, the first friend that I ever made. No matter what my past is, she's waiting for me, believing that I can get better."
"...Yozuru and Livia are the same but... Sometimes I feel like here are steep cliffs on all sides, and there's no one that can help me."
"They're probably cliffs of sin... that no amount of good deeds can help me scale..."
"But lately I've been thinking it's okay if I don't make it all the way to the top. I just need to climb a little ways up so that I can reach the people I care about."
Alexandra's Interview Record
"Oh my, thank you very much for taking the trouble to come visit me at home♪"
"I had some advance notice, so I prepared these teacakes for you. We can eat together, if you'd like. Hmhm♪"
"That said, I'd heard rumors about you for quite a while, so I already have my answers in mind."
"I know this is a very simple and obvious answer, but I just hope what we're afraid of never comes to pass, and that Magical Girls can be saved..."
"I won't be able to envision my own future unless that happens first."
"From singing, which I enjoyed even when it was hard, to this harp I've been playing my whole life, to my studies that will determine my future— it all feels so insipid now..."
"Although I may be beyond salvation, I at least think it would be nice if watching me keep trying could inspire sickly or otherwise disadvantaged children." "But nobody knows about Magical Girls, do they? Which is why I don't think I can use this misfortune of mine to help anyone right now..."
"Since I've already had a wish granted, some might say I shouldn't ask for anything more— but even if we can't be saved, it may be meaningful enough to simply spread the word about us."
"Hmhm. So I'm rooting for you, alright?♪"
"What you're doing could mean you can create a future for us, despite our misfortune."
Urara's Interview Record
"Hrmm... It's really tough to say what I want..."
"Since I moved to Futatsugi, it'd be nice if I could keep workin' together with Promised Blood."
"I still sorta feel like more of a fan than an official member though. That's why I feel a little out of place, see."
"But y'know, I also wanna get back into showbiz so I can support my family again."
"My parents are fine with me quittin', but I still wanna be useful to them, see."
"And I don't care if she hates me— I wanna get up on stage with Kurara again."
"ut I don't think she's ready yet, so... Ah, see, I got it!" "If Magical Girls can live just a little longer, I wanna hone my skills outside of the diabolo and continue performing, even if I gotta go it alone."
"Once I grow up, I wanna talk to Kurara again. See, if our hearts have changed, maybe we'll be able to communicate this time."
"Then we'll get back together and show everyone the best street performance we got!"
Lavi's Interview Record
"Do we have a future? Can we really be saved? It's absurd to ask us these questions when we're asking ourselves the same things as we watch over this battle."
"...I'm sorry. You asked me so considerately, and I was rude to you."
"It's like asking someone who's been given one year to live where they see themselves in ten."
"...Indeed, it's not that we don't want for anything; rather that we suffer because we're thinking of the future."
"I'd like to take over the inn my mother runs, and boost the popularity of the vegetables my grandfather grew for me. I would also like to go to university to deepen my understanding of my father's book collection..."
"Truly, the more I dream, the more I hope for, the more the sadness of having such little time left to live gnaws at my heart."
"Maybe trying to cling to the future in spite of it all is what makes us human, though."
"For starters, understanding the concept of time creates a fear of death, envy for the future, and so on and so forth, which in turn spurs us to act."
"The word 'society' was invented, and the reason why humans kill and harm one another is because we know what 'time' is, which gives rise to emotions such as impatience." "Since I may have nothing left, it's not unusual for me to have given up on it all. It's normal not to take action."
"And yet, I have a vegetable garden in my yard. That alone gives me my answer."
"It tells me I still want a future..."
Kagome arrives at the battle site with Winchester's Familiars, having rerouted herself after being launched into the sky. She is startled to see Kyubey and is briefed on the situation that the Mirrors Witch has taken control of the Doppel System. Upon learning the Mirror Witch is the cause, Kagome realizes her contract and subsequent violation of its oath may have been the catalyst that empowered the Witch.
While fighting, with the Kimochi Stone of Falling - Turquoise Ear, Kagome takes down two Mirror Witches herself while the Familiars keep targeting Ui. Kagome actively seeks out Kyubey to form a tactical information-sharing pact between them to prevent mutual destruction. She creates clones of Al to spread out and gather information on the Familiars' movements, and track Mirrors clones.
Iroha assigns Kagome the mission to go to the hospital to group up with Sakurako and retrieve Touka and Nemu, fearing they may be the next targets. This mission ends in tragedy with the death of the Satomi brothers, which Kagome witnesses.
Later, after everyone's mission fails and they resolve to use a Mirror to go to the past, Iroha instructs her to transmit the memories of the failed timeline to all the Magical Girls. After she deposits all the information into a leaf, which is then sent to the past by Iroha's magic as they are converted into Uwasas by Touka and Nemu in the new present.
At the end of Winchester's Labyrinth, Kagome's book, the physical manifestation of her interviews, is used by Touka and Nemu as it contains the stories of the Magical Girls, which is necessary to "recover" them. The interviews are later used to return everyone's magic and strengthen them.
After Iroha turns the Uwasa Magical Girls back to normal, and she, Ui, Lil' Kyubey, Touka, Nemu, Sakurako and Mikoto spread the Doppel System across the globe, the ending is presented through Kagome's narration. She is actively traveling and conducting follow-up interviews with the various factions after the final battle and the establishment of the global APS.
She first interviews Karin about Alina's departure and her new artistic philosophy. Then visits the former Folklore of Zero members to discuss the book's assembly and the challenges of gradually revealing the truth of Magical Girls to the world.
She observes Neo-Magius' shift in focus from supremacy to self-affirmation and community service, and then documents the Tokime Tribe's plans for a future trip, noting their buoyant mood and the potential breaking down of barriers between main and branch families.
Kagome also records Promised Blood's newfound camaraderie with Kamihama, seeing their participation in a gaming tournament as a positive sign. She later attends Puella Care's farewell, recording their future plans and Livia's continued stance against Kyubey.
