Hevelius

Hevelius (HEVELIUS) is the Witch form of Mifuyu Azusa. So far she has only appeared as Mifuyu's Doppel and in the Magia Record Event Alina's Atelier ~Factor of Despair~.

Doppel description

The Doppel of livelihood. Its form is a bird-catcher. The master of this emotion will use all powers at her disposal to stay alive in this reality, including this all-in-one Doppel. Countless bird-shaped minions known as "Sugar Geese" emerge from her shadows on the ground, attacking her foes on command. The mere touch of a Sugar Goose will cause its target to taste such sweetness that it will inspire a maddening addiction. This makes it easy to make targets accept most lies, even with just a few geese. The Doppel sprouts from the tongue and arms, so she cannot speak while using it.

Fairy Tale version description

The Doppel of livelihood. Its form is a bird-catcher. By accepting the fictional character she once performed as a part of herself, the master of this emotion has become convinced that she is a descendant of a tyrannical bloodline that brings destruction to those around her. Her Doppel thus sets fire to itself and burns away all that it touches, in order to satisfy its master by bringing reality closer to that fiction. However, burning away only reality is no easy feat. Once its flames have run their course, not even imagination remains.

Trivia

• She is likely named after Johannes Hevelius, an astronomer best known for studying the moon. Mifuyu and Yachiyo are both associated with moon symbolism (Mifuyu's weapon, for example).
  • Also, Hevelius is a version of the name "Hawke". The doppel summons birds.
  • Its shape vaguely resembles an owl head.
  • In the Anime, we get close ups of the "Sugar Geese" Which look very similar to a White Ibis.
    • The ibis predominantly symbolizes the human soul. Which could be a reference to soul gems.
• Her doppel description likely refers to a character from the famous Japanese novel Night on The Galactic Railroad. The character, simply referred to as the birdcatcher, catches "cranes an' wild geese. An' herons an' swans, too" which somehow become cake or candy. Note that the witches of Iroha and Yachiyo share names with the main characters of Night on the Galactic Railroad.
