Chapter 1: Choose For Yourself, Without Being Overwhelmed
Episode 1: The Peace That Ended Because of the Attack
Kako: “Getting together to play with Felicia and Ayame…. I wish I could always enjoy days like this…”
After the initial defeat of the Magius, some things in Kamihama seemed to be going back to normal, along with the establishment of the Kamihama Magia Union, hoping to provide a place of support and community to Magical Girls.
However, as several Magical Girls from outside Kamihama begin to become aware of their newfound peace, and the Automatic Purification System, there is a mutual gut feeling that this peace will be short lived…
On a lighter note, Kako is at the park with Felicia and Ayame, who are currently in a competitive game of ‘skipping-shoes’. As the game begins to get out of hand, Kako intervenes and reminds Felicia that she mentioned a meeting happening that day for the KMU. However, Felicia notices her two friends sulking right away, as their own personal parties have forbade them from joining a different organization, likely because of what happened with the Wings of Magius. Felicia reminded them that whether they’re in the group or not does not affect their friendship in any way, and any useful or urgent information from the Union will be shared with them, with that, she bids her friends goodbye and goes off to the meeting.
Later, Kako defeats a Witch with Nanaka, Meiyui, and Akira, who shares the same desire to join the KMU, but Nanaka is quick to remind them that said possibly has been forbidden, as she doesn’t trust the two former Magius that are now on the team. Meiyui agrees with Nanaka, leaving Kako and Akira disappointed. Just as they’re about to leave, they are ambushed by Promised Blood goons.
Meanwhile, Ayame, along with Hazuki and Konoha, are experiencing the same thing in another area. The goons ask if the girls are from Kamihama, and when Hazuki answers honestly, they attack with a grudge, but the three are stronger than anticipated, leading to them retreating rather quickly. The three each use a Grief Seed that they have on them, reflecting on what just happened, and with a gut feeling that this is only the beginning of something awful, decide to do some info gathering, and share it with the KMU.
Episode 2: Even If I'm Unsure, It's Still My Choice...
Nanaka: “It appears things are about to get worse. ...You have some idea about this, don't you?”
Some time later, meeting at a cafe, Nanaka and Hazuki exchange information regarding their similar experiences, as well as the new appearances of Promised Blood, the Tokime Clan, Neo-Magius, and Puella Care, who are all from outside of Kamihama.
For their own purposes, each faction is trying to take the Automatic Purification System for themselves, and seek the Kimochi stones in order to do so, which will obviously have dire consequences, should their plans be successfully carried out.
While the other factions are to be observed with caution, Promised Blood appears to be more of a threat to the Kamihama girls, considering their violent tendencies, and that they have already killed a nameless Magical Girl in the Neo-Magius. Though it seems as though they mainly have a grudge against the Magius in general, they are under the assumption that all Kamihama Magical Girls are Magius, and thus, their enemies.
Nanaka asks if Hazuki has considered joining the KMU, and although she wants to stay connected to the group for support and information, she agrees with Konoha’s statement that it would be safer not to get directly involved, considering that the Promised Blood have been attacking the group recently.
Kako, Ayame, and Akira are meeting at the park, talking about the recent attacks from Promised Blood. Ayame and Kako express their growing concern, as not only was Felicia injured, but a couple members of the KMU ended up having to be hospitalized.
Deep down, the girls want to help directly with the KMU, but know that they would be putting themselves directly in harm’s way. Akira states that her group will meet up the following day, though she is doubtful that they will be able to change Nanaka’s mind about their team’s policy. As Kako and Ayame struggle to process what happened, Akira makes up her mind that she will ask Nanaka if she can join the KMU, not as a member of their team, but as herself. The other two are shocked, but understand her intentions.
Akira then convinces Ayame that she should tell Konoha and Hazuki how she really feels, as she clearly doesn’t want anything else to happen to Felicia, and to see if there are more ways to help if joining the KMU isn’t an option.
However, Kako is left feeling conflicted, and reveals that she doesn’t exactly want to join the KMU, she just wants to protect Felicia and Kaede. Her friends are supportive of her feelings, and assure her that there is no hurry in making a choice yet.
At her cooking lesson, Konoha is lost in thought. With the rising hostility towards Kamihama Magical Girls, she considers that she and her family move out of the city, but then, she cannot guarantee their safety, and they also won’t have the Automatic Purification System to protect them.
Manaka sees her spacing out, and snaps her out of it, clearly concerned for her. Konoha tries to ask if Manaka would risk her life to help someone even if her father was worried and trying to stop her, but that just leaves her confused, as it was sudden, and this kind of life advice has nothing to do with cooking, but she does say that she would, even though her dad would probably be crying while trying to stop her.
Hoping to help ease things up, Manaka makes Konoha a rice omelette to take home.
Meiyui has thoughts of joining the KMU, but is hesitant due to how large the group is, believing that having too many people would cause a collapse in the union, so she meets up with Hinano, hoping to get more info on the inner workings of the KMU. Hinano reveals that the union shares Grief Seeds, and deal with disputes with negotiations, rather than combat. The union will also share important information with Magical Girls that are not members, supporting them regardless of their choices. After learning that the KMU isn’t closed off or hostile, Meiyui begins to consider joining.
Later that evening, Nanaka shares her concerns with Hazuki, knowing that a couple members on her team want to join the KMU. She has the same ideas as Meiyui, that being of such a large group not being able to support themselves, and that joining would have a target placed on their back. Hazuki relates to her worries, and tells her to soften up around her teammates and hear them out, as they may have good and valuable reasons for wanting to join.
Episode 3: For Those I Love
Ayame: “When Hazuki comes back... I want to tell them how I really feel...”
Hazuki arrives home in time for dinner, which just so happens to be the rice omelette that Konoha brought home. While eating, Ayame expresses how she understands and respects Konoha’s advice to not join the KMU, but she has worked herself into a mindset where she couldn’t be friends with Felicia, because she was in the union.
Konoha is saddened by the misunderstanding, and assures Ayame that her emotions and friendships are validated, while also telling her to not get involved with any kind of trouble without consulting her first.
Konoha also expresses how even though she is happy with Hazuki’s info gathering, she doesn’t want to her push herself too hard, and to not bottle her feelings up.
Nanaka and her group gather for a meeting to discuss future plans, and Akira takes this opportunity to share her thoughts and hopes for joining the KMU, wanting to act as a bridge between the two groups, with Meiyui sharing the same desire. Nanaka is hesitant, but is surprisingly supportive of their decision to join as individuals, even though they all will not be joining as a team. Kako is still indecisive, but she is leaning more into not joining the KMU, at least for the time being.
Hinano brings over Akira and Meiyui to Mikazuki Villa, where Iroha and Yachiyo greet them. They are surprised, but happy with the two girls’ decision to join. Nanaka hopes to continue cooperations with their team and the KMU through Akira’s message. With all said and done, Iroha promptly and formally welcomes Akira and Meiyui into the Kamihama Magia Union.
